  1. thank you! I looked up the BRC on the wisconsin DMV website too, but their information was a little jumbled up. Now I just have to wait wait wait. Into the great wide open/ under them skies of blue/ out in the great wide open/ a rebel w/out a clue.....
  2. Learn how to ride a motorcycle!!! Anyone know if I could expect to find a reliable cruiser for under $1000? I've only been on a bike once.... (at the dropzone.. surprise surprise!) but I've been thinking about it and I really want to learn how to ride... it would definately save on the gas for the nearly 2 hour ride to the dropzone this summer! 3. Believe me, as soon as I graduate my goal is to live somewhere where it never snows.... but I'm stuck here until that time Thanks for the heads up too! Into the great wide open/ under them skies of blue/ out in the great wide open/ a rebel w/out a clue.....
  4. lol that was exactly the "useful insights" part I was talking about Into the great wide open/ under them skies of blue/ out in the great wide open/ a rebel w/out a clue.....
  5. haha Of course that would be coming from Todd I know I'll get more than a full briefing once I get up there... and I knew you guys would probably be seeing this first anyway But I'm worried about my face shield though... and goggles instead of the full face?! BURR!! Mary showed me those little plastic things to breathe through.... do they work? I was looking through something when I was up there on Sunday and there was a picture of a guy whose face shield was completely froze over in freefall... yikes!! Not to mention my "pulling at 500 ft." and "malfunctioning canopy" dreams have been in full force lately Into the great wide open/ under them skies of blue/ out in the great wide open/ a rebel w/out a clue.....
  6. We just got the first actual accumulation of snow last night, and we're supposed to get another 5-6 inches on Saturday. I'm lucky enough to jump at a dropzone that operates year-round... and although I'm sure I'll get more helpful advice once I get up there on Sunday... I'm nervous! It'll be my first time jumping in snow. I'm not worried about the snow however as much as I'm worried about my face shield freezing up and me colliding w/someone in the air... newbie jitters I guess. Any insights? Into the great wide open/ under them skies of blue/ out in the great wide open/ a rebel w/out a clue.....
  7. when I was in 8th grade I wanted to play guitar sooo badly... I saved up all summer for a gorgeous (to me at least) washburn guitar that was half off... I got it for $250.... to my dismay however, the only guitar teacher in my area was a weirdo who would spend half of my thirty minute sessions showing me the new christian songs he'd learned, and would wait on his couch starring out of his window for me to get there... I was so uncomfortable I quit and never picked it back up... my boyfriend is now the only one who gets use out of it, but it's so pretty I can't get rid of it ... however... when I started skydiving I was seriously thinking about pawning it to get some extra cash for equipment... That story was pretty unrelated to what you were asking, but I have to say... my boyfriend who plays shows around the area is jealous of the sound my $250 washburn has! 12. the step by step pictures from that website were helpful... I always have the most trouble getting mine into the bag too... it's hard for me to keep everything under control, but like everyone at my dz and on here has said, I'm sure it'll only take a hundred or so pack jobs before I won't be swearing at my D bag as I pack Into the great wide open/ under them skies of blue/ out in the great wide open/ a rebel w/out a clue.....
  13. I agree... $340 for an 02 is good... however, it did look a little ratty from the pics... I don't know if it was jumped in the desert or if it was just the lighting or what though. Mark's fees weren't outrageous, just more than most people had told me to expect, but after talking to some more experienced people from my dz, I learned I should expect more between $280 and $350 for relining instead of the $200 or $250 people had mentioned before, so at least I know now I've seen a couple sabre 1's for around $500 that had fewer jumps and wouldn't have needed a reline. In any event, I'd just rather buy something that I can jump for awhile before I'd have to reline... but Mark was super helpful and if I ever end up getting my own canopy ( ) I'll probably be searching him out again when it comes time to reline it. Thanks for the recommendation in the first place, it's nice to know there's someone so close that I can go to. 14. Thanks for clearing everything up and for getting back to me at lightening speed Mark. However, I still think a better option for me would be to just wait for a better deal to come around and worry about relining after I've put more than just a handful of jumps on the canopy I buy In the mean-time I guess I'll be wishing I could buy that silhouette 150 for a mere $1200 on here haha thanks Lynn! 15. Grr... Mark just called back with a quote... $210 for the cheapest lineset through aerodyne, plus $120 for installation through him... unfortunately I wasn't planning on spending close to $700 on a used triathlon... I guess I'm going to have to keep looking.... so it'll be back to the club's zp exe for now Into the great wide open/ under them skies of blue/ out in the great wide open/ a rebel w/out a clue.....
  16. Thanks so much! I just got off the phone w/Mark and he's going to get a quote for me today. And Pops - I will make sure to relay the message to Lynn this weekend About the mod - what does that involve? Would it be significantly more if I decided to have him do it? 17. So I'm in the process of buying my first canopy, a triathlon 160, the dom is 7/02, but it's got 1000 jumps, so I'll have to reline it. The seller is accepting $340, but I've been told I should expect to pay at least $200 to $250 for a reline. Could anyone point me in the direction of somewhere I could get it relined at? Thanks! 19. Now that was fun...! It was my first boogie and I had an awesome time.. it's going to be hard to go back to the cessna after being spoiled all weekend! Question though: someone w/a camera got a picture of my friend and I running out of the skyvan... he said he would post it online, does anyone know the website where they will post pics from the boogie? 20. Ditto, at least I won't be alone! I think Mary is going to make you guys babysit me half the time Do they have dollar jumps from the 182's every year? I read something about them doing for the 25th aniversary Into the great wide open/ under them skies of blue/ out in the great wide open/ a rebel w/out a clue.....
  21. as a part of my required classes for my art ed major I had to take 2 painting classes (I draw, throw pottery, work in found objects... but do not paint... it's frustrating!) Anyway... for the painting 1 class, I HATED it! That is, until we got to work with oils for the last project (a self portrait) up until that time we were working in acrylics, and I have to say I think I threw everything from the majority of that class, except for the self portrait. Acrylics change color as they dry, and they're waxy... oils on the other hand blend BEAUTIFULLY, and let you achieve more realistic colors. Sure, it takes longer to dry... but how many times have you worked on a piece until bed time, and then when you went back to look at it again you saw something that needed changing? Basically, it depends on what type of painting you're doing. If you're doing realism, or are interested in experimenting with blending/properties of the paint, definitely oils. Take a look at Mark Rothko ... his abstract paintings of basically blocks of color are beautiful... the way he can get about a million different shades of the same color could only have been obtained through oil paints. 23. wow.... hmm.... all I can tell you, is that if you post something on here... just expect for it to get scrutinized.... you could post that your beloved grandma died last night, and I would almost put money on the fact that SOMEONE'S going to find humor in it... (sorry... but it's true!) Just settle your little huffy ass down, and stop taking everything so seriously... and about your g/f thing... I hate to break this to you, but some of what was said is true... people who've been in this sport for 10, 20, 30 years, have seen A LOT of people burn out after a short time... it would seem silly to give up a serious, long term relationship for something that you might not even be doing in a year's time.... although I understand you probably think that comment is bullshit as well... anyway, get a paper bag, do a couple huffs into it, and try to focus on jumping... not an online forum Into the great wide open/ under them skies of blue/ out in the great wide open/ a rebel w/out a clue.....
