  1. Start your own business? I currently work for a insurance broker, but really want to move on. To make a long story short, the opportunity to open an office for Farmers presented itself. From what I've been told, it's a no-brainer, and yet I'm hesitant. For the first 2 years they pay you a base salary of $1,500.00 per month + commission off of what you sell; to assist in your sales there is a ongoing training program in place, and a marketing staff. People associate Farmers, State Farm and Allstate as good companies. Also, for that first 2 years there are separate funds in place to assist in the payment of office space and whatnot. The only thing holding me back is the fact that you have to sell 40 property and casualty policies, which means a combination of home, auto and business insurance, and 4 life policies month to month. Maybe its just me, but that seems like a lot. I find myself toying with the idea nonetheless because it would put me in a better position now. As for right now, I work on a commission basis at the broker, and when people do come in i could sell a policy with no problem; although I don't have much sales experience, I like being around and talking with people....when it comes to interacting with clients I don't even think of it as "selling" it has begun to come naturally. The added challenge of working for a broker is getting the client comfortable with the product; you'd be surprised to learn how many people never heard of AIG, Metlife...or even Progressive. People see Farmers, Allstate or State Farm and they get a sense of security. I figure that with $1,500 base pay plus commission of the 44 policies I could make $3,000+ per month, which is a hell of a lot more than what I'm making now. 44 Policies does seem like a lot though [Crazy] What would you do? 4. Hey Kaye, Congrats on quitting! We are all proud of, and happy for you. Remember, you can do it! It's just a matter of will. Before you think I sound like I'm talking out of my ass.......yes, I did smoke; from 16 to just about 6 months ago (now almost 26) I smoked a half a pack when here in the States and a pack to 2 packs a day when in Poland (where everybody in my family smokes). 1 day, I just got tired; tired of worrying about my health, tired of blowing money ($7.50/pack here) and overall, tired of being enslaved. I now hate the fact that I ever willingly did that much damage to myself...point is......it is possible to quit. I can't even say I remember having withdrawals. Best of all to you
  5. I will certainly keep you all updated on my progress; thank you for your interest and encouragement, it's difficult to scale how much it means to me...know that it means very much....
  6. So, as expected, I completely got hooked to skydiving when I jumped for the first time last Saturday. Even before the jump I was pretty sure I wanted to at least get an A license, now, I'm certain! Problem is (as some of you may know) is I have a slight case of Cerebral Palsy. It's not something I can't beat (I have every intension of making this disability non-existent) it's just gonna' take a lot more work than your average Joe Shmoe. My upper body is fine in terms of strength and mobility; my lower body is in descent shape, but could be much better, especially if I intend to skydive on a regular basis. I signed for a gym membership and am committed to getting in shape ASAP. Yes, I do need to build up muscle in my legs, but I also need to loosen up my hamstrings (the muscles in the back of the knee.) I've had them lengthened byway of surgery twice, and am contemplating having it done again. However, every time it's lengthened there is less and less tension, resulting in the muscle itself being weakened. So, the only viable option is to stretch it out. I'll give an example: imagine you were sit flying...all those kind of jumps I've seen, the jumper has his/her legs spread as wide as possible; although I can this, I can't do it as wide as I'd like to because that hamstring is tight. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions about exercises that would work best for resolving the problem? You don't have to be a therapist (although that would be a plus); maybe you have dealt with something like this?... It's going to be a long road, I know that much, but well worth the result. As I've said before I love this sport because of the atmosphere and the people and am determined to achieve my goals. Some you guys may (or may not) have your doubts...all I can say is I'm a determined son of a bitch! Many thanks to everyone for everything in advance. A special thanks to all at CSC! Here's a link to my first jump, it was great fun. WARNING, I'm not very photogenic! I had such an overload on the senses that I could hardly speak when we landed.....and if you really wanna' know how disoriented I was, just pay attention to what happens at pull time LOL. God it was fun!!! http://youtube.com/watch?v=HjqG2u1Vvfg Dialogue/commentary between Divot, Twardo & myself - "from your first Oshkosh when the three of us were riding to or from one of
  7. By that logic, the first amendment (I corrected your whups up there) only applies to quill pens and hand presses... What I meant was, if you could have all of the above you should also have the right to own a handgun. 8. That was a very good poit and I agree with you wholeheartidly. My somewhat pro gun stance was not say we should be dirity hary gun ho types; no...I was just saing its an option that should be made availible if all else fails. Unfortunetely, no matter where you go nowadays you never can be to safe. Case and point: I live in a good part of Chicago, nonetheless, a little over a year ago I was nearly carjacked while parked in front of my house. Furthermore, cameras on the street are EVERYWHEREl, and although that can be a good thing because the presence of survalance devices can deturr not only crime, but any potential crime, it can also mean that the area is no longer considered safe. I'd be interested to learn how high, or low is the cime rate in Texas, Arizona and any other place where its legal to carry a weapon with you. On the one hand, you run the risk of increased violence, and on the other any criminal is conscious of that fact that his potential victim may be armed thus not commiting the intended act. Any thoughts? Dialogue/commentary between Divot, Twardo & myself - "from your first Oshkosh when the three of us were riding to or from one of
  9. 1. the first amendment of the constituation says "right to bare arms" End of story. It doesn'r say right to bare shotguns, AK's, pump actions, and whatever else your heart desires. Which brings me to my next point:...some one please explain to me how and why, in Chicago, you can own all of the above, except a handgun. Yet, I drive 2, 5, 10 miles in any direction and can legally own a handgun. Yeah...Go figure that one out It makes no sense why someone can own a shotgun, but not a handgun. Furthermore, people who use crutches to walk, such as myself have no way to protect themselves with a long barrel type weapon if someone were to break in. If I had wife and kids to worry about, how on God's green earth would I protect them?... That's why in my house, you will always find: 1, an alarm system, 2, a pair of big dogs and possibly a gun...in that order No, I don't believe nor promote violence, I just want to be able to protect myself from the whack-jobs that do. 12. so after collecting what little belonging I could find from the rubble I reinitiated my trek to the store to get a package of unmentionables for the wife... And once I got to the store, it occurred to me that since she didn't mention what kind of unmentionables she needed, I had no idea what to buy for her. But then I remembered that my therapist told me to stop referring to my hermaphroditic multiple personalities as my "wife" and "sister" because my constant incestuous fucking myself was really starting to annoy him. I had told him that things were going badly form me at work. Everybody hated me, and I couldn't keep qualified help. I had considered resigning, but he kept reminding me that I had less than two years left in my term, and that the surge just might work. I then got tired of being in my own headspace and started looking at the candy isle. There were too many choices. So instead I bought leprechaun statue hand carved from ivory. It was a little dusty so I rubbed it and this little focker iin green pants appeared offering me a choice between a million dollars, an Otter or three nights with Paris Hilton so I chose... 3 more wishes Dialogue/commentary between Divot, Twardo & myself - "from your first Oshkosh when the three of us were riding to or from one of

  14. Every time I flew out to Poland (once, twice a year, for the last 7 years) I always had considerible amounts of alcohol both ways, plus beer in my carry-on and never had a problem. by considerable amount I mean 2-3, 1 liter bottles of vodka or whatever. Of course, this is pre terrorist era. Still, if it's in your luggage I don't see it being a problem. If you want something and need to be sure you can have it on the plane just buy it at the duty free store; it's cheaper anyway because you don't pay sales tax on it Have a good flight Mrs. Bugs
  15. Haha I know, but around here, in Chicago, where there are more Poles than you could shake a stick at, you offten hear the slang "pollock" Pronounced pole-lock. Parddon my political incorrectness
  16. woo hoo!! Have a fantastic time!! Are you doing AFF or a tandem? Either way, congrats!
  17. Today, (May 3rd), back in 1791 the Polish constitution was signed-making the townspeople and the nobles equall, to a certain degree and onlytechnically, I'm sure. Anyway, Polish history stems back over a thousand years. Interestingly enough, although its had that much time to develop and evolve, younger countries, such as the States have a considerable lead. Having said that, Poland does have a rich history and there are many landmarks to visit and whatnot I'm just curious to know where you are from and learn something about your culture. 18. I think it's not only possible, but normal to love someonebut not be in love with them; furthermore, I think it can apply to both sexes. Love often times does not (or atleast doesn't have to) imply a sexual undertone. For example, I'm very close with a female friend of mine; I can honestly say that I love her, however she's married, so obviously our love isn't in a partner/sexual conotation. Likewise, I know my best friend for nearly 18 of my 26 years (he's 22) and also love him (it's like we're brothers) his family is like my extend family. So there ya go; it's possible to love someone, but not be in love with them.
