  1. QuoteWhy don't you get their e-mail address from their website and ask them ? I think what he is looking for is a different perspective other than that of the manufactuer. Sometimes merchants tend to sugar coat things such as delivery times to make their product more appealing to a prospective buyer. I believe this is a very appropriate question that deserves an appropriate response if you actually have the information to provide. after all that is what these forums are all about....right?
  2. well this helps in understanding the sizing of the original safire but my question has to do with texture of the material. not the size or the color. the right 4 cells including the stabilizers and the left stabilizer are of a different appearance. i did call icarus and they said most likely they changed bolts of fabric in the middle of the production of this particular canopy. just wondering if this has been seen before. thanks for the input talonsky. cya
  3. I am looking at buying a used safire 1. the canopy appears to be in excellent condition. however, i noticed that the 4 cells to the right all have a bit less sheen than the other five cells. not really faded or worn but just has less shine. the difference is on the top and the bottom and from the nose to the tail exactly on the seam. could this be something to be concerned about?
  4. hey...i had the same thing happen to me! a bigger guy may want to consider an infinity because they seem to be a bit longer then even a vector and at least for me much easier to reach. (i own a vector 3 also, both custom made to fit me.) i am athletic 6' 220. i also cooled it on the shoulders at the gym. there is no worse feeling than reaching back and missing the hacky. is there 2shay?
  5. i wish i had an experience to share with you but i use a cypres in both of my rigs. i am responding however to express my displeasure in phoenixlpr's response to you. there is no reason for pomposity in this forum or any other for that matter. maybe he doesn't know who you are....or maybe he does. even though we have never met, melissa, i think you are awesome and you deserve much more repect than this guy is giving you. rock on g
  6. i got that email from him as well. however he is at zhills until friday march 30. maybe one could call down there and get a message to him. although it is my guess that he already knows about this.
  7. i would like to know what the fuck is going on with this. my life is depending on this device. is there something wrong? i know PIA is it's own entity and doesn't realy provide for the general public or even the skydiving community but come on. why so secret?

  10. 1 acronym sums it up pretty well: AIDS Aeronautically Induced Divorce Syndrome.
  11. i don't know if the city would support a tunnel or not. that is why i am asking. my opinion though is based on the fact that the travel market in san antonio is very seasonal. i have studied and invested in the hotel industry there so i am very familiar with the trends. although s.a. is the most visited city in texas it is not steady. the trend shows the months of march and july are saturated. june and august are semi saturated. the rest of the year is slow with some months being dead aside from scheduled conventions and the like. i'm sure there are a ton of skydivers that would come but that would not keep the business going. i believe most tunnels have a 3:1 tourist to skydiver ratio (with the exception of eloy and maybe perris) and i think you would really need this to keep it going. in comparison orlando has a steady tourism base, although it too is somewhat seasonal. the apparent plan is to have a tunnel somewhere near sea world of texas. have you ever been out that way in the "off" months? it is a ghost town and there is nothing around for many miles. i am playing devils advocate here because i have been asked to invest in such an adventure in case you are wondering. jee
  12. i have heard there may be a tunnel planned for san antonio near sea world. i said that city could not support one. IF there was one there would you come?
  13. if you've never been in the tunnel you can pretty much forget about freeflying until you have several hours in the tunnel even if you are a good feeflyer in the sky. for all practical purposes you will find it is completely different than jumping from a plane. you first will have to show proficiency on your belly which will take at least the first of your 20 minutes but will most likely take all three of what you have scheduled. then you will have to "fly" on your back. at the same time the instructor will get you into walking on the net and going from standing to your back without smacking yourself on the net or into the wall. all things being considered if i were you i wouldn't plan on anything other than belly flying for now. i say this with much conviction because i was just there for my second "tunnel trip" and well into my second hour of tunnel time and can now just lift myself from the net and hover on my back without spinning out of control. i have about 200 jumps of which 100 are freefly jumps. ciao
