  1. I was watching Fox News this morning and they showed live footage of Florida Skydiving Center in Lake Wales. The airport was basically destroyed. Half of the hanger was completely torn down. The only part of the roof remaining was the small section over the Otter, which looked ok. Best of luck to Lake Wales and any other DZ that suffered because of Hurricane Charley last night.
  2. I have quite a few jumps on both a Jedei 105 and a Stilleto 107 and 97. Both land fine straight in. I haven't had any problems with the Jedei. I prefer the Jedei because it doesn't have as flat of a glide as the Stiletto does. But both are great canopies.
  3. In my opinion, a sidebody is the most solid exit to launch. It is not as likely to spin as a meeker, nor is the outside center as likely to flip under or the point to flip over. Everybody has 2 solid grips and a lot of control over the person they are gripping.
  4. I jump an Oxygn and I've never had a problem with my contacts, plus I can breathe in that helmet. I put a few jumps on a Z1 once and I hated it. But thats because I'm kind of claustrophobic and the Z1 is not a good helmet if you are.
  5. Collegiates has a 2-way competition. The dive pool from that (randoms and blocks) can be found in Section 7 of the Competition Manual here http://www.uspa.org/publications/manuals.pdf/SCM.6-13_May2004.p2.pdf It starts on page 111.
  6. That's what I was thinking. I'm small enough that I'd only have a 1.2-1.3 WL on it. But there is no container that will only fit the 99. Therefore, why not get the largest reserve you can? Thats why I have my 113. Now, if there was a smaller container I think it would be great. I'd love to have a rig that doesn't sit on my butt.
  7. http://www.omniskore.com/ipc_pool_menu.htm It is also in the USPA Competition Manual on www.uspa.org.
  8. You can find a lot of good information on forming a 4way team here: http://www.4way.org/training/ Also, you might want to try talking to the director of the CSL. They may know of other people looking for teams.

I love that place! I always get the "At the Cocoa Banana Cabana." It is banana ice cream, cake, bananas, chocolate syrup and whipped cream (but I substitute coconut for the whipped cream).
  10. I used to fit a Sabre 135 into an NJ when I started jumping. It was snug but doable. It was an older Sabre though so it didn't pack that big.
  11. Well, he was going to get stuck with her anyway. Maybe he figured if he didn't pick her last, she'd actually not try and screw him over...but if that was the reasoning, it obviously didn't work out that well. I think Bill is the better candidate for the job. But I have a feeling Trump might pick Kwame. Sam and Erica were on a local radio show here in Atlanta a few weeks ago. Omarosa was supposed to be on it as well, but when she found out Erica was on, she refused to do it. Plus she had requested to be paid twice as much as Sam was being paid to do it.
  12. I'm not sure if Kwame could fire her. I think I remember hearing a comment about he would if he could. But I could be wrong. I don't understand why he chose her second and not last. Because now Trump can grill him on having chose her and not having been stuck with her. Anyone catch Saturday Night Live last week? Trump hosted it and made fun of Omarosa. It was hilarious.
  13. I don't think he is saying USPA should turn people over to the FAA, but rather if a member is found in violation of an FAR, then USPA should take disciplinary action against that person.
  14. The GT Skydiving Club would like to get in touch with all of our alumni. We've started a page on our website (http://cyberbuzz.gatech.edu/skydive/?page=alumni) where alumni can send us their information and we'll post it on the site. This way we can see what our alumni are up to as well as allow alumni to get in touch with each other. This will also help to potentially organize future Georgia Tech Skydiving Events. Thanks! 16. That's not true. The registration fee for Collegiates is $100-$125 (it was 125 in Eloy 2002 and 100 in Lake Wales 2003) per competitor, plus jumps. Any other meet (NSL, etc) is only $25 per person, plus jumps. And each jump is basically the same cost regardless of the meet. The only thing that makes U.S. Nationals more expensive than Collegiate Nationals is that you're paying for 10 rounds instead of 4 (for 4-way that is). But it is definitely fun and a great experience, especially for first-time competitors.
  17. Collegiate Nationals are at Lake Wales, Florida again this year, right after Christmas until New Years. You can find a complete description of all the requirements and events in the Competition Manual, Section 7. http://www.uspa.org/publications/manuals.pdf/SCM.6-13_May2003.pdf USPA is considering some changes at their meeting this weekend though, so some of the information may change and should be updated by this summer. But they'll probably post the changes on their website as soon as they are confirmed.
  18. It would have been nice if they could have at least put the scores for all the events in there. It's nice to see how people actually did in addition to just what place they finished in.
  19. So I saw the article in Parachutist. It's definitely wrong. Nobody from Georgia Tech competed in freeflying.
  20. Do they give the name? I haven't seen it yet either.
  21. Technically it is. But considering they rescheduled the competitions, and with another world meet this year, I wouldn't think they'd change it right now. But you never know.
  22. All the Javelins and Javelin Odyssey's I have had were all made ordered by women and I've never had a problem with the chest strap being too high.
  23. There are some excellent articles on 4-way.org that detail pretty much all you need to know about 4-way (formations, etc). http://www.4way.org/training/
  24. Their customer service is fine if you live in the area and can physically stop by. But when you want something via mail, it takes months. I mentioned my 4 month wait for a minor fix earlier. She hadn't even touched it until March when I stopped by again, then she did it in a few minutes and handed it right back. So if you're in the area, it is easy to get things fixed.
