  7. i got certified in la jolla in san diego during end of june, in 2002... talk about cold. once you get down 50 feet and you hit the thermocline, jebus! on our last dive we were going out to mexico from point loma via boat, we lost a propeller and had to make our boat dive in the kelp beds, we got 65 feet down. afterwards we surfaced and we were all blue... kinda sketchy..
  8. oh thats really cool, what can you tell me about it ? got aim?
  9. This is the best farside joke ever made!
  10. hi i was wondering if any expirienced jumpers have a screen name for aim they would be willing to give out to me and allow me to be there friend :D sometimes its easier for me to ask questions via conversation, some of you may not wanna do that but if anyone wants to help a noob out that would be stellar!.. thanks! -J
  11. i found the article that is also printed in paper, heres the link http://www.eraunews.com/media/storage/paper917/news/2006/04/21/FalseHorizons/B.a-s.e.Jumping.Class.Offered.In.Fall-1865887.shtml?norewrite200605090117&sourcedomain=www.eraunews.com by the time i get there, it probably wont be offered for the sake of someones death... they used to have a stunt pilot course till someone died...
  12. i just got back from visiting embry riddle aeronautical university (im probably going there) and i was astonished to find out, that for credit you can now take a BASE course, of course you start slow but you will then be able to jump off the newest building which overlooks a canyon.. also featured in the class, you will design and make your own deployable parachute. sounds very interesting and i will hopefully take it, unless by the time i get there someone kills thereself.
  13. whoops my bad... phreezone, its been mentioned before..im new, dont grill me well done quite yet..
  14. thank you much! the terminology is something i need to learn..
  15. i was asking if i could have a back up to my back up. the other question you answered, you said that the reserve is engineered differently... so that means its different then the main canopy. forgive me for dumb or aimless questions, just trying to be better before i start!
  16. I tried searching for this, so forgive me if i passed it on the results, but i was curious, is it possible to have 1 main canopy, and 2 reserve chutes? or can you use a main canopy and the same brand canopy for a reserve chute(so 2 of the same) im new and im still gathering information so i can have a very unique and exciting set up once i drop the $$ to get all my gear
  17. i work in circuit city's imaging department, the DVD camcorder is not the way to go if you plan to edit your footage.not only do the discs only record 30 minutes (23 minutes on fine) and the 60 minute discs (about 45 on fine) the DVD format makes it a longer process, sure theres a way, it involves ripping the DVD, converting the dvd files to digital (avi) and then burning it into a dvd again. my recommendation would either be a 3CCD panasonic which uses a DVC tape, after recording you would be required to upload via firewire to your computer, which converts it via editing program to avi. or the easiest way would be to get a harddrive camera, 20gb-40gb, JVC everio is relativley new, its quality is ok. you can record 4.5 hours on ultra fine on a 20gb and 7 on normal. ive heard a lot of negative things. if you can wait, wait because all the major companies are going to be releasing hard drive cameras, and sony has a high def hard drive coming out. although sony is picky with their products and the digital format will be a sony format and will require there editing software (sony vegas). now if you get any other kind of hard drive camera, its a simple USB2.0 to your computer because its already in digital format, you can even pick select seens. you can upload at faster rates. the Hard Drive cameras are pretty new, id say wait as long as you can. Hope this helps, if you have any other questions about Imaging products, or computer products let me know :)
  18. haha, will do.. ya im sure that would be a little easier
  19. yes mam! thanks for the warm welcome! yes, they have a branch in arizona and one in san diego, but the san diego branch apparently is called a distance learning center and you take classes at different locations, the arizona one has its own airstrip and apparently there is a skydive club so maybe ill fit in :)
