  1. i have a stiletto with a small rip. size:approx 1 box. a BB could fall through. location: T1 aft by the warning label. I have looked for limits in Poynter manual. is it 4 boxes before requiring a patch? what is the recommendation without using addhesive tape.

    Digitude

i've used both. some folks like to look at a dial, some numbers. when i was flying, we had crews that had trouble getting used to strips verses steam gauges.for me, in an emerg situation, at a quick glance, i can see if i'm at 18 or below and make my decision to cut away without alot of time lost. i have had no trouble maint wise on either the alti 11 or the digitude. i just prefer the digitude and used it the last 3 years with no maint issues. hope this helps. Tom
  3. glad you're happy. hope to see you at lost prairie. Tom
  4. i have a spectre 150 and stiletto 150 loaded at 1.33. each year i go from monterey at sea level to lost prairie at 5k. good landings can be had by both but the spectre will need to be given a more powerful and quicker flare. the spectre is a great canopy and does well at altitude. hope this helps. Tom
  5. i use a pc350 with a sony 0.6 lens. i was looking at putting a 10-22 on my canon 20D but was wondering if anyone has used the 15/2.8 thru the24/2.8 and what you thought would be the best way to go and what you thought of the lens. also if any distortion. thanks, tom
  6. both are great canopies for different folks. i have a spectre 150 and a stiletto 150 loaded at 1.3. check the PD web site for comparisons. when i jump with camera equip on, i like the spectre. it has never given me an unpredictabe opening. always soft and on heading. higher desent angles and less forward float on flare. as you go ellipitical, some openings can be less predictable. a little more attention on packing and opening. the openings on my stiletto are great, but i still plan more for trouble on it than the spectre. landing- flatter glide and longer swoops. hope this helps. the sabre 2 is right between the spectre and stiletto. i've flown the sabre. great canopy also. why not demo them both to see what you like and would fit your needs. hope this helps.
  7. don't trust the book all the time. just look at some of the FAA manuals and you'll see. take it for a flight and look up. if they are short, you'll see it. riggermick has it right. become a rigger yourself. making changes on your own with someone like me giving advice over the internet is not in your best interest. there are a number of schools or get with your local rigger and work under him or her. by the way, you don't need to go to that ground launch school, i can teach you all you need to know right here.just kidding. i wish i could go.have fun
  8. next jump, open high, 4 or so. come out of brakes. look up and see how much bow you have in the lines. the canopy should not show distrotion. watching as you pull down on one side, take the slack out, if any, till the canopy shows slight distortion. do the same on the other side. you can gage the amount in inches by the ring on the riser. in most cases, you can adjust an inch or so. take this info to your rigger and ask for his thoughts and help. hope this helps. good luck. all this is generally speaking and kids out there: don't thy this at home.
  9. check out page 14 in skydiving rag march 2005. john winkler has a t-bar that can be used with a torque wrench or rachet. i have one and it works great. the contact # in mag is wrong. call or email john at AEROHIO DZ. hope this helps.
  10. how would it cause a deployment? i have also seen where the end has snagged and caused a reserve deployment. there are a few different opinions on this i believe. what say billvon.
  11. talk to the manufacture. get a properly sized rig for you. cutaway cable is not a problem. most cables that are out should be stowed between the velcro. i have jumped most other rigs with a handle and the lenghts are about the same. if too long, then might be an after market handle used in place after cutaway and fear caused fingers to go straight. no flap problems and i ff at all speeds and positions. i think that most will agree that the odyssey is very comfortable. mini rings and risers are a personnal choice. i have both. sunpath reps are great to deal with and make a great product. hope this helps.
  12. well, excuuuuuse me. yes i have. as a rigger i have been known to pack of few also. i shouild have been clearer in my first reply. i thought it was funny to consider cost savings on a reserve and not mentioning it on the rest of the equiptment.
  13. i did not, nor have i ever said that the smart reserve is not a good canopy. i was replying to (cheaper than pd). webster's definition: cheap ...( shoddy or inferior). i am not implying it is either. my comment was concerning a persons last chance. the last thing i want going through my mind is if i saved some money.
  14. why would you choose a stiletto made by pd and micron. both are high end and worth it, then want to go cheap when it comes to the last chance to save your life.
  15. thanks. i got an email from concepts.i tried theswt on 2 rebels and 1 worked and the other didn't. on my 1n I had to snip the conectors and hard wire in order to work. I connected the red and white together and seperated the white on the canon adapter. IT WORKS. do you have the same trouble with the 20D as i am thinking that down the road i will go digital? thanks again to you and lew. Tom
  16. i tried to email concepts and got a poor reply that did'nt deal with the problem, so i emailed them back. would be easier to just call and go over this on the phone. in the meanwhile, i am going back to the camera shop and they will troubleshoot the adapter along with the switch. i might just say the heck with it and get a canon eos 20D. does it have a female receptical for the swt or do i need an adapter. any fedback on the 20D for this use. Thanks, Tom
  17. Lew, i need your help again. i bought a t3 connector and tried the 2.5 bite swt with no success. does the camera have to be in a certain setting. i'll try and call conceptsus tomorrow.
  18. thanks, i'll order one tomorrow. Tom
  19. i bought a 25mm bite swt and trying to adapt to a t3 terminal on my canon eos 1n camera. i understand that the digital canons have a t3 terminal also. anyone have this problem. Thanks, Tom
  20. no. i have an optic. i side mounted the dbox and will put a bracket like the goldmember on the top as soon as i see one in use and can compare how high my canon would be. hope this helps. good luck.
  21. have you thought about putting a goldmember bracket to the top mount. that way if you wanted to switch out or remove the box, you could. just a thought.
  22. i bought new from adorama photo in nyc. i purchased other items over the years and have no problem. they have been around for a long time. new in box with full warranty. not grey market. sony tapes. i'll try to duplicate the problem this weekend and trouble shoot. thanks for the help. Tom
  23. i just purchased the pc and have about 10 jumps on it with a few rewinds to the beginning. i have only used the sony tape. how many times can i go over old scans? thanks for all the help. Tom
  24. sony. me excellence 60 min tapes. i thought that going to the end will jar the heads. has that been the case in other pc models.
  25. i have used a head cleaner. the 350 is new. i was wondering if on this or other pc's if you rewind to the beginning, if it somehow disturbs the head enough to register an error.
