  1. O.K. this is totally addicting...my best 2 (so far, thanks Kenz!) is 392 miles and 472. "...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Kbordson
  2. I'm pretty sure it has - was it at the end of the one where Mark Harmon's character gets killed? Thanks for clearing that up - your "research" (groupie tendancies) came in handy. I thought it was the episode where Toby arranged for the honor guard at Arlington for the homeless Viet Nam vet (according to JoshLyman site, that was Brothers in Arms by Dire Straights). I loved TWW. They used a lot of powerful music on that show that stays with you like Hallelujah - it definitely "speaks to you". Kenz: Ari really put his heart into it, thanx for the link!
  3. "Hallelujah," the Jeff Buckley cover. By any chance, was that used in an episode of the West Wing? "...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Kbordson
  4. Uh...no thanks, my lunch is about to come up. "...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Kbordson
  5. The first maggot was disgusting but interesting from a treatment point of view. After the boobie, I feel woozy...I need the puke icon too. There's a lesson I need to learn. "...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Kbordson
  6. Foamy is a cartoon squirrel - I can't do a clicky, but do a search for Neurotically Yours Cartoon. The one I saw the other day "Drugs in Your Head" is hysterical. FYI he's Yamtx's avatar. "...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Kbordson
  7. Foamy is a very funny squirrel - I did laugh out loud at the clicky someone had the other day w/Foamy and drugs. "...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Kbordson
  8. Watching the Daily Show 2 wks. ago, just after Steve Irwin died. Now, don't get me wrong, I am VERY sad that he died. I watched his memorial service yesterday and cried. BUT... Norm McDonald did a very funny riff on it. It was in bad taste, but funny. I still kinda feel like I'm going to be on the express bus to hell for laughing at it, but it was funny. "...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Kbordson
  9. Oh boy, you and Shell have found your hockey B.F.F.'s GO OILERS! "...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Kbordson
  10. LOL! "...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Kbordson
  11. This is what I was thinking - there are any number of ways that the student could have handled a legitimate sitation. Most likely he was talking with one of his peeps trying to figure out where to meet up for lunch or some other equally lame conversation. At the very least he could have put his phone on vibrate and left the lecture hall when it went off. I wouldn't have actually thrown the phone - I don't throw things when mad, but I could immediately identify with wanting to. "...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Kbordson
  12. Good for the professor!! Cell phones are great and have their purpose, but they are also one of my big pet pieves. People have lost all touch with common sense when using them, let alone etiquette. "...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Kbordson
  13. Yes, I just got home from work and saw the last 30mts. or so of it...I'm sure they'll replay it so I can see what I missed (at least I hope they do). I had tears coming down when his little daughter spoke - sweet little girl. "...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Kbordson
  14. Well, it doesn't have to be filled with flowery prose, in fact, I think I'd prefer it if it wasn't. But a sweet, heartfelt expression of someone's love that I can read and reread is a lovely thing to have.
  15. ***I'd say watch my team 'cause they don't stink but I guess it depends on what games are televised in your neck of the woods! Watch the Blackhawk games ... they ARE playing another team, ya know!*** Well, I suppose it's really not about stinking/not stinking - I don't know from stinking since I don't get it. I just thought there might be a team out there that could really draw me into the sport. Oh well, I guess I'll watch the Blackhawks one more time. But I suspect it's genetic. "...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Kbordson
  16. O.K. puck-chick, I'll take that challenge! For some reason when you dissed (that's only the 2nd time in my life I've used that word) my city's team it has compelled me to say....I'll watch one more time. Hockey people: who in your honest, objective opinion who would be the team to watch, or which match-up would be so exciting that I would be compelled to throw seafood on the ice rather than eating it. Remember, it has to be objective. Don't tell me to watch your home team if they stink - I could watch the Blackhawks again for that, and while sentimental, it would not have me headed for the nearest seafood shop. "...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Kbordson
  17. You know, I've tried to watch hockey on number of occasions - I live in the Chicago area and we have a legendary team that resides here with a cool name, logo, and team colors, but I've never been able to get into it. Even when everyone was talking about that Gretsky guy - 'The Shark' or 'White one', whatever he was...still couldn't care. Then a few years ago I found out people started throwing seafood on the ice - squids or something (what was that all about???) - and I tried to watch again. I don't know, my genetic code is missing the codon for pucky stuff. But, enjoy the season pucky people!
  18. Oh, those are great pictures! All the pictures posted are great, actually. Even the ones with the mouse carcases - hey, it's what cats do, especially the outdoor kittys. Even though my cat is old and basically an indoor cat now, when she was younger she was quite the mouser and bird killer. I'm happy that so many people here have taken them into your homes, whether from shelters or off the streets - 'good on you' as they say!
  19. My cat is all black, she's 17yrs. old and the only thing she pounces on is her Fancy Feast in the morning - thank God! I'd hurl if she brought me a "present" It's very cute - as I type this she's standing over the keyboard and staring at the screen as the letters appear and move
  20. The models/the young girls who emulate them - two sides of the same coin. O.K., maybe I missed the point from the Spanish government's perspective - they only care about one side of this coin. But in my mind, the unintended consequence of their stepping in will be looking out for the models who influence the young women at the end of the runway, which I think is a great thing. When they are actually healthy and look it, hopefully, there will be a trickle-down effect upon the girls who try to be like them. Right now it seems to be just a token effort, at best, anyway. But I hope somehow some real change can begin. "...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Kbordson
  21. I think it's great...it may not reverberate through the whole fashion industry and cause profound change, but hopefully it will cause people to talk and think and make some sort of incremental difference. When I see those fashion shows profiled on T.V., a lot of those models look like the walking dead. There are a few, like Naomi Campbell, who look relatively healthy but for the most part they look horrible - so bad that I can't believe the designers would want someone that sickly to represent them. But I guess that the designers have their heads so far up their own that they don't care. Which is why it's good the government is stepping in. No one in the fashion world is looking out for these young women - not the designers, not their agents, perhaps not even their families. If fact, they're telling these paler-than-death stick figures to drop ten more pounds "...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Kbordson
  22. Yeah, this didn't sound right to me when I read it. What kind of mgmt. is that?? If you have Sting staying at your hotel and he's not bustin' up the furniture, like some rock stars are prone to doing, and he's PAYING to keep the bar open for his private party - what was the problem??? I thought you'd want to cater to your high profile clientel, especially a Ritz Carlton. Was there more to the story?? Did he not actually pay or something and the hotel lost $$?? "...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Kbordson
  23. yeah, that's a looooong flight across a lot of time zones. Glad you got there safe. Um...since Kuwait is not part of any of my vacation plans. Ever. Whadya say a bunch of us all get together and have that beer when you return, m'kay?? We can plan it so it's timed with your first jump after coming home - then you'll owe even more beer! "...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Kbordson
  24. maybe you should spike it w/some Red Bull I have a friend who drinks that stuff constanly and wonders why she can't sleep!?? Good luck w/your Monday! "...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Kbordson
  25. I am a mess every Monday...I need coffee...I'm going to Starschmuck's! "...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Kbordson
