  1. I suspect it is possible that he merely used very poor wording as you have described. Either way yes obvioulsy race would have been a huge factor at the time and a black man with an all white jury at that time well........I wouldn't want to be him. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  2. Gangsters have a tendency to not use holsters, which allows the trigger to snag and the gun to fire. Doesn't matter if it's a glock or not, if you're not using a holster to protect the trigger. Not overly familiar with Glock (laws here on pistols are harsh so I am a rifle and shotgun guy). Would you tell me what it is about a glock that makes it prone to ND's? Yes I'm to lazy to do my own research when someone here can just tell me. No external safeties. The trigger cannot be disabled like a Bersa/Wather/Beretta, which all have a decock lever. Gracias. 3. So is your issue with the idea of a nanny state or is it because your drug of choice is being targetted while some other abuser gets away with it? Alcohol is way worse than all drugs and kills more people? Is it that out of every 100,000 drinkers more die than out of every 100,000 drug addicts or is it merely that alcohol which I suspect is used more frequently than all drugs happens to also kill more? You see, I once heard a similar argument that driving a car is more dangerous than skydiving because more people die each year in car accidents than skydiving accidents. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

  5. No, but it infers that the person is not making the best use of his time while living on the taxpayers dollars which are ideally aimed at helping a person get back on his feet. 6. Or maybe those kids would add to the problem because they lived in even worse squalor than if their parents were receiving benefits. The kids are not deadbeats. Looking at the human capital requirements for those entering the job market I would prefer not to doom a kids chances from the start just because his parents were useless. I do not mind social nets aimed at giving the offspring of oxygen wasters a fighting chance at breaking the cycle. 7. No-one has ever accused me of that before but thank you (and of course you are welcome).
  8. Wow. That was an earfull and I do not know where to begin to respond to that but here is my best try. I certainly don't know where I said anything so extreme. Did you honestly interpret my arguments to be so extreme or are you deliberately going with the straw man hyperbole routine? I have argued before about why I am willing to pay out of jmy taxes to support the unfortunate, including those who's misfortune is of their own doing provided there is a genuine effort on their part to strive for self reliance. This is not just for altruistic reasons but because I beleive that society does reap long term benefits (in terms of human capital for one example) by having some degree of safety nets. Holding those that we carry to some degree of accountability is perfectly acceptable and in no way is reflective of the cold hearted "let them starve and freeze" wording that you were trying attribute to me. Oh right. Because I dare disagree with your extreme views I must clearly be a neo-con fascist chicken hawk who fantasizes about kissing GWB's feet and loves the idea that men and woman are in harms way on my behalf because it makes me feel masculine to beat on my chest about it in a bar. How on earth did my comments to you lead to a discussion on Iraq? Hint. When you use a straw man argument try to keep it in perspective so it isn't evident to the entire world. Smaller straw man arguments can slip by undetected No. Soldiers are injured because they served their country. How is holding welfare recipients accountable equivalent to wanting our wounded veterans to die off because they are too expensive/inconvenient ? (don't respond with evidence of past wrongs by other people towards vets. tell me where it is I gave the impression that I wanted that since those are the words you are putting in my mouth.) Oh even better. Now instead of merely wishing to let the homeless starve, I have apparently stepped up my heinious cruelty and have begun advocating genocide against the poor. You have determined all of this because I have pointed out that people cannot pick and choose when they would like to be an adult ( you know....kid when it comes to taking responsibility for themselves but adult when it comes to following the parents/taxpayers rules). Your capacity for seeing so deep into the underlying insidious intentions behind a comment like mine is unparalleled. Thank god you exposed me for the beast that I am or I would have gone from advocating welfare reform on a discussion forum to carrying out the next holocaust. I have stated numerous times before that I support helping people back up the ladder. I do not however wish to carry people who would rather do nothing but smoke-up, drink, breed and jerk off all on the taxpayers dollar. There is a grey area between two extremes for those that choose not to polarize every debate for lack of a constructive argument. I simply wish to have safegaurds in place to distinguish between those who are using my charity responsibly and those who are wasting my money. To the best of my knowledge no. That said we could start a new thread and take a poll asking everyone on Dropzone.com if they would enjoy kicking someone when they were down. I suspect you might find that most are not as cold hearted as you would like to portray them. You sure hate your own country. The current administration fall short of what I expect in terms of responsible use of power, but I doubt that Americans in General love violence and war. The number of threads on SC alone criticizing the Iraq invasion indicate that many Americans are not comfortable with the current war. Again there you go with the mind reader bit again. Actually it is not true. I have no idea what personal demons are behind that little outburst but you might wish to think take a breather (or put the bottle down before posting). I disagree with you (which does happen from time to time on discussion forums) and offered a contrary point of view which may go against the ethic of strict political correctness (not unheard of in speakers corner) and despite your rant beleive that what I said was both fair and true. Your not liking my viewpoint does not make me a nazi who takes pleasure in commiting an orgy of cruelty against those less fortunate than myself just because I can. People like you who go on the attack and portray all who advocate any form of welfare reform as being hatefull neo-fascists actually hurts your cause. People tend to resent being bullied with PC "cry wolf and bully the dissenters into accepting our way by threatenning them with smear attacks if they dare say something we do not wish to hear" and as a result of that develop a tendency to roll their eyes at any complaint. Remember, crying wolf is a short term gain stratregy that ultimately backfires in the long run which is why people only view Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson as comedy releif. Now go back and re-read my original post to you, and ask yourself if you might have taken it a tad out of context. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  9. *** Maybe welfare recepients should also be monitored for alcohol consumption. They should also be monitored to be sure they do not decide to spend that money on doing a possible tandem jump, going to an amusement park, a movie, buying snack food or fastfood or any type of resturuant (They should be given a list of government approved food and any attempt to buy anyother type of food should result in immediate removal from welfare), they shouldn't be allowed to purchase gasoline for their car as they should be required to sell their car before they recieve welfare. They could easily walk or take a bus. They're rent should be deducted from their alloted amount and sent directly to their landlord. They should be strictly prohibited from taking any kind of vacation. There travel (by bus or foot) should be monitored via GPS to be sure that they go no further than to a job interview. They should be taken off welfare if they are know to smoke cigerettes, cigars, pipe or chew tobacco. Their weight should be taken several times a month to be sure that they are not eating more than the government allows for them. They should not be allowed to have a pet of any kind (dog, cat, bird, fish...), They should not be allowed to own a gun, they should not be allowed to hunt, they should not be allowed to go fishing. They should not be allowed cable or satellite T.V.. They should not be allowed internet access nor should they be allowed to own a computer. They should be barred from going to any kind of sport event. In all, they should be denied anything and everything that they might spend welfare dollars on. Uncle Sam should give them a very short list that should only allow them to pay gas, electric, phone, water and government approved food (Ramen Noodles). Why the fuck should tax dollars pay for anything these people get. The government needs to install cameras, GPS monitors and enact mandatory testing for everything they ingest! Wouldn't this form of Nanny State be grand! Just add these things on to mandatory drug testing and WHAMO 1984!!!!!!!!! Knocking at your door! If we do not like having a nanny state then we should abolish welfare altogether. Remember getting paid to do nothing is not a right. It is a unique priviledge that we in western countries provide for out of taxpayers money. When you live under your parents roof and eat their food and use the electricity they pay for you comply with your parents rules. When you are ready to take responsibility for yourself and pay your own way then you move out and do not have to follow mom and dad's rules, but so long as you stay under their roof, you accept their rules. The same should apply when Joe taxpayer works hard and pays your way. In effect if you are on welfare then you are living under the taxpayers roof and he/she is your parent who was forced by the government to adopt you. He/she sets the rules. Don't like those rules? Take care of yourself. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  10. In Chilliwack BC there was a bible thumper who put up a huge sign saying "Prepare to Meet God" on his property so it would face the highway. As it turns out it also (by coincidence I suspect) was facing the end of the runway at Fraser Valley Skydiving Center so just as the cesnna was hitting lift-off the sign was almost in your face. First jump students really didn't like that. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  11. Sounds good to me. We should also require that to get each welfare check you have to take a birth control injection (be nice if we had one for guys). My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  12. Well on a lighter note we do not have to worry about him reproducing. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  13. Why? They didn't make him shoot his nut off. Now now John.....it's always the guns fault. You can't seriously expect our society to hold individuals responsible for their actions. 14. I think his intention was to question whether there were more blacks executed because there were more blacks that committed the crime or whether there were more blacks executed because of institutional racism. I am not sure he was trying to say that there was no racism. Here in Toronto for example, Blacks were complaining that they were arrested more than white people (and provided statistics to back their argument) and the Chief of Police responded by releasing statistics they had been keeping which inferred that blacks were in fact committing more crimes than whites (by the way the black community threw a fit about that and now the cops are forbidden to keep statistics based on race) but the point was that they were arrested more because they broke the law more. So the argument can be that more of one group being represented in criminal sentencing is not in itself proof of bias. Otherwise our sexual assault laws can be seen as discriminatory because men are charged with it at a disproportionate rate to women. 15. One of my now-retired colleagues was a 1st Lt. assigned US Army prison duty in Germany after the surrender in 1945. One of his duties was to supervise hangings of GI's found guilty of murder (apparently there were quite a few). He said he found it very traumatic and distressing. I suspect it would have been far far worse if a few heads were pulled off in the process. He became a firm opponent of the death penalty. I guess I was looking at it more from the condemned mans perspective and overlooked the effects on the hangman. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  16. What is justice? I thought the death penalty was about the final result and not how much they make one suffer before they get there. I am of mixed feelings on this. While I agree that it shouldn't be gratuitously painfull just to satisfy the vindictive I don't think that we should go overboard on expense looking for the perfect method and for that matter I think the debate should be whether or not we do it at all rather than how we do it (within reason). The reality is that for the vast majority of us death will not be painless. Heart attack, cancer, old age...etc there is always going to be some pain. Provided we are not going out of our way to cause it to the condemned and we are making reasonable accomodations for his/her comfort I say it should be done in the manner that is quickest and we should stop our hand-wringing over a moan or two from the guy. We could eliminate the methods that have a terrible track record (gas chamber seems to have had some ugly deaths) and narrow it down to a few least worst methods and even give the condemned a choice. What I always find odd is that the elaborate methods we use in the west seem to cause more discomfort than some of those used in third world countries despite our condemnation of those countries. For example, China gives them a high powered rifle bullet to the back of the head. I would pick that over any current methods in the US. Saudi Arabia beheads people (again that sounds relatively quick). One more thing; why do hangmen worry about dropping the condemned too far just because it may decapitate them? If I was going to be hung I would not give a shit if it decapitated me!! I would rather drop too far and have my head come off than strangle because my neck did not break!! Give me a 30 foot drop!! 17. You can probably remember that the dog was licking its brown spot about 5 minutes before that also. Sequence - 1- dog licks butt. 2- woman lets dog lick her face. 3- woman wants to hug man and rub dog feces on his face. I don't specifically recall where the dogs mouth was before that ( do not wish to speculate). I simply recall how awkward it was finding reasons not to kiss her for the rest of the evening even though her parents were there and were looking at me like I was a freak for not even giving her a light kiss when she cuddled up and tried to kiss me. I am also a pathetic wimp when it comes to being the one doing the dumping (I hate being the bad guy) so I felt like a complete ass the next night when she was crying and asking "why? we seemed to get along so well" since I could not think of a tactfull way to tell her the truth. I know it makes me seem like a complete dink but for christs sake the damn thing probably drank out of the toilet, licked it's own ass and nuts...etc. I could not put my mouth on hers after that without throwing up . 18. The story should have ended there. She was a cat woman. Didn't you know to run? My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  19. I am getting the things I want but I have to work much harder than my colleagues primarily because they are smarter than me. The end result is the same but I have to sacrifice more time and thus acheive less balance in my life than those who operate more efficiently than me (family, working out...etc). Efficiency can be somewhat derived from organization skill but to some extent it is derived from how fast of a learner you are. I wish I picked things up faster. I can't complain because life is not bad but I see greener grass on the other side (of those who are naturally smart). 21. Never understood why people let their pets drink out of the toilet. For that matter I cannot fathom why pets never asked themselves why that was the single place we chose to releive ourselves and went "WTF? I'm never drinking there again". Girl I started dating in high school invited me over for dinner (spaghetti and meatballs). Her dog (black lab) was begging for food. She held out a huge meatball and let the dog take a bite and then proceeded to continue eating the fucking meatball!!. Couldn't kiss her after that and broke up soon after. 23. Probably not a good idea to state this sort of thing on an internet forum. It could come back to haunt you even if you act in genuine self defence. Other than that Soulshine said it best. Document everything and be the squeaky wheel with the authorities. One this will encourage them to intervene and two it will work in your favour if anything happens. I am no lawyer but in these situations even if i feel I can control the guy I usually like to state in any formal complaint (for the record) that I am quite scared for my safety and that it is causing me great stress. It may work in ones advantage in a marginal self defence case. I sympathise because the law allows nuts like this to seize the initiative. Best of luck My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
  24. Huge presumtion on your part. Huuuge! You are accusing me of racism. Where have I once indicated that brown is the issue? You are blatantly playing the race card and you know it. If someone moved here from Ireland and broke the law I would be thrilled to send him back. As a matter of fact if you look at the recent thread on Ireland being British I made exactly that point and I myself am of Irish descent. Go take a look at the comment I made there where I made it clear that I would be glad to weed out any filth from Ireland. I should not bother to ask you to look because every time someone like you gets on the race card playing bandwagon you tend to see and hear what you want. Does my not being a good little comlacent guilt ridden white boy who extends special exemtions to minorities makes me a racist in your eyes? Your comment suggests so. Sorry but my not being willing to bend over and spread my cheeks in the interest of political correctness does not make me a racist as much as the PC crowd would like to suggest otherwise. I am not responding to these protestors any differently than I would to an Irish bunch physically blocking the deportation of one of their own as much as you would like to suggest otherwise. First, whenever someone prefaces an argument with the words "I suppose you think...." I know I am not in for a constructive debate but rather a barrage of PC straw man arguments and race baiting. Second, I have actually been strongly vocal about first nations affairs and have actually sided with them on most issues, in particular the recent ipperwash Dudley george affair. I certainly would not have aproved of the army mowing them down and I am not at all sure what on earth in my statements left you with that impression. I suspect you are seeing what you want to see. But don't let the evidence stop you from playing the race card. Third. Why on earth would you think I would want the natives mowed down? Because I suggested that the riot police be there n full gear to deal with any escalation as neccessary? Again this suggests a preparedness stance, certainly not the violent outcome that you would like to suggest I was proposing. 25. So what about citizens of german descent who were found to have lied about their wartime record? Or is that different? It is in the best interest of the county to make sure that we are bringing in people who will respect our laws even when they disagree with it. There is absolutely no reason why we should not retain the right to remove someone not born here if he breaks our laws. This is a way of ensuring that those who come here act to preserve the values of our nation rather than undermine them. If I moved to the US or Mexico I would have no problem with having that rule applied to me. If I cannot abide by American or Mexican law I will not move to those countries. Why should we allow people to come here and trample over our laws in the interest of enforcing their communities agenda?
