  1. What group are you going with? Just wondering is you have already secured coaching - I could recommend a lot of great coaches if you haven't yet signed on with a coach! Good luck! TC
  2. Sounds like a kick-ass time - I wish the SkyVenture tunnels were like that here in the States. They don't cater to the skydivers like they do there - sounds like Bedford is more of a dropzone atmosphere! I'll have to check them out this year!

    Aerobed

Thinking of buying a new bed - does anyone have or have used the aero-bed? Saw one on the home shopping channel and thought they might provide me with the delicate support I need.

    Going in

Doesn't matter - the eyewitness account will say that you were struggling and struggling to free the problem!

    Going in

Not intended to be taken lightly: What would you do if you cutaway and pulled a severely malfunctioning reserve? Just wanted to throw that out into the bonfire and see what happens.
  6. I never really understood the whole initiation thing anyway - especially the stupid barbie doll thing. What's up with that anyway - I thought the Barbie doll represented men's perfect vision of what women should be and not at all represented real women in today's society - so why is it used as a symbol of a women's skydiving club? Besides - I think it would be cooler if you had to learn some series of transitions or style of flying - like the old school handshake only evolved to a whole routine flown in the air. That would be cool - but the dolls and stupid shots from the body... how lame. But that's just my two cents.

    Bought a House

That's great you bought a house - so many skydivers who compete/skydive professionally never really amount to much outside the skydiving world. It is good to see that you aren't going to wither away to some old coach living in a trailor at the end of an airport.
  8. Commercial has some neat pictures - I have not ever heard of this wind tunnel though. Is it more of an amusement style ride for the general public or can skydivers use it too? If targeted towards skydivers - will you be having any camps like an Airspeed camp?
  9. Advice for getting the wind tunnel speed up? It's very easy - the instructor will turn the speed when he/she tells you that you are ready for more speed and are ready to freefly. I was in the Perris tunnel and although I have hundreds of freefly jumps I wasn't allowed to freefly right off. They made me first fly on my belly and then do back. I only had ten minutes and spent the whole time on my back. It was quite difficult to get stable on my back and I found the amount of control required in the tunnel vs. the sky is crazy. So don't expect to do much sitflying - but who knows if you have an hour you might be able to fly sit - depending on how much time you are going to fly yourself. Don't forget to tip your tunnel coach as well - since it because of people like you that other people have to work on holidays. Of course the owners are glad to keep it open - but your instructor might be pissed and tipping him might somewhat make better the fact that he/she is at work on a holiday. Of course you get have the entire family over for turkey and watch football and not go to gas stations, grocery stores, movies, and any other establishment where employees are forced to work on holidays. No offense to you, but I used to work at a grocery store and I always hated the people who couldn't buy their crap the day before or after a holiday. I think it is a way for the general public to show respect to one another - I never go anywhere on the holidays for that reason. If an owner of a business wants to drag employees to work on the holidays - he'll or she'll be shelling out wages with nothing coming in. Then after realizing he/she isn't going to make anything on the holidays it will be more cost-effective for them to stay closed and LET THEIR EMPLOYEES HAVE THE DAY OFF! But not everyone is conscious of the people around them - enjoy your tunnel time!
