  1. i totaly agree with your post. i jump with a side mount and a .3 wideangle lens. im a turn it on and forget it guy. i only jump vid on coaching dives not aff because im very green, just got my aff rating this summer and feel the dzo's would frown upon me jumping camera at this point. however i will use vid on aff dives as soon as i get a little more exp. that being said i feel the camera being a distraction is case by case. it distracts some but not all. like you said voodew, the video sucks so i, nor other videographers at the dz feel im taking money from them. nothing will take the place of good outside video. to riddler, i use it mostly to give the student the most feedback possible. you'd be suprised how much you can miss if its a dive your having to fly your ass off. if your jumping the darn thing its kind of messed up to not let your student see it. dont you want to help them as much as possible. video is an amazing teaching tool. i think your probaly looking out for the other vid guy's, which is honorable. let them watch but dont give them a copy. this i feel is the best of both worlds, but dont put anything above teaching your students to the best of you ability. they pay a shitload of money and i feel they deserve nothing but 100%. peace bro.
  2. good video scoop. i like the vintage b&w intro. wow, that was some burble, huh? looked like a interesting opening! after your loops, what were you trying to do next? i couldnt figure out why your arms were swept back unless you were trying forward movement. exept your legs were negative. im not critiquing your jump, im a new aff instructor and want to know for my learning and knowledge. im sure your instructor told you that arching would stop the chipping efect, no? anyway thanks for sharing that video. hope aff is going well. keep at it!!!! peace gunner
  3. perfectly said! its all about being free and turning, rolling flying your body in no set way. thats the difference between flying h/u, h/d and FREEflying. transitions, transistions, transitions!!!!
  4. there are ALOT more people that can do h/u atmonauti than your guy's are thinking. its not the norm but its not like theres only 2-3 guys that can do it. just so ya know. peace
  5. [quote>The Onyx has pretty low front riser pressure too, but it's a piece of shit... lmao!!! BINGO!
  6. if you dont like what your hearing then update your jump #'s! how are we suppose to know how often you jump and when! your shit says student! and students got no buisness on their heads! so are you a student or not? sorry you think 1400 jumps isnt enough to fly my canopy. well tell me in your infinite wisdom what is? i do more jumps in a day than your whole carrer. if you want to get in a pissing match id say your a lot more of a hazard thinking you got it all and trying shit you have no buisness trying, than me under my wing. have a nice life orbitting around the sky bro,
  7. there are some goog arguments for ripcords, although i prefer throw outs. you can get the pilot chut wrapped around your or the students body. they also do alot of dancing in the burble sometimes. you have to be on your toes with throw outs. students holding on to them is a potential hazard as well. all these potential dangers are not an issue with a ripcord. thats why alot of instructors prefer them i guess. i dont think the benfits out way the retraining to 2 handle and throw out though.
  8. you should also ask if those that use throw outs if they have reserve side main deployment. that would be interesting to know. personaly i feel throw out is best but only if the student can be deployed from either side.
  9. thats a hard q's for me to answer. i did mine with billy rhodes, so thats all i know. he had his flaws but otherwise was a fair person. i could have done without the sometimes endless uspa politcal ranting and raving, but some of it was interesting to learn the flaws of our governing association.
  10. thsnks, this is why im curious about other peoples thoughts. maybee i have a bad one.
  11. ive never fully understood peoples desire to learn hd right off student status. yes its awsome and being upside down is rad but headup flight is so fucking cool too! i feel like its the underdog but most newbies dont fully understand the possibilties of head up flight. i started freeflying with around 75 jumps. i have about 1200 freefly jumps and 1000 of them are mostly h/u. sit came pretty easy for me and i loved the comfort of the posistion so i stuck with it. staying with it got me on alot of great freefly and hybrid jumps early on as well. theres isnt really anything a hd flyer can do that i cant do on my feet. this includes flocking! flocking h/up is very fun and if your looking to stand out in a video, flock h/u! or if you really want to get it on, lead a flock h/u! theres is a whole world out there that so many miss. its too bad. for starters i wish people would stop thinking of it as sitflying. im rarley in a standard sit when flying h/u. its just that, its head up flying. so try to start seeing it as that and it wont be so ho-hum. people get dis-enchanted with sit flying because they're usually just sitting there. well no wonder, thats not too exciting. learn to free both arms up, learn to fly in a stand but not change fallrate. learn to stand track out of the skydive and watch your friends eye's open up to something they probably havent seen you ever do! basicly rock the fuck out on your feet then learn h/d, because once your that comfortable freeflying h/u, h/d is learned very quickly. then after you get h/d pretty well your gonna be one sick ass freeflyer, flippin and rollin like the rock stars you see in vids. they arent just on their heads the whole skydive. hell no. they're flying their bodys all over the damn sky and it looks fuckin rad!!!! so many people go to their heads after very few h/u dives and then get stuck. stuck on their heads because they dont want to transistion to their feet because they're gonna flail! ive seen the best h/d flyer on the dz go low on the formation and stay low because he simply doesnt know how to fly a sit! thats pretty silly dont you think. after some freeflyers get good at one thing they dont want to backtrack and relearn sitflying because they are embaressed to not be as good at they are h/d. so they stay only on they're head, but if you already have that shit dialed your going to fly circles around many other not well rounded freeflyers. i started learning h/d this past summer. it is awsome! im having a blast learning this totaly different way to fly my body. its so sick, but im very happy i waited until now. because i feel like once my h/d is where my h/u is, well there's no stopping all my freefly dreams from happening! just some thoughts, im really not trying to pat myself on the back. i just wish more people gave h/u the props it deserves, and explored the possibilities. peace all flyfree!
  12. personaly i think this is a bad joke. you dont have any other posts about skydiving. they are all about aviation. i call bullshit my friend.
  13. dude your going about freeflying all wrong. you dont even have a solid belly foundation yet and your trying to fly hd. thats fucked. i will not help you because you dont have the proper approach to learn freeflying. the only way you can know your orbiting is if there is another freeflyer with you. that person should be ripped a new asshole for taking you fflying! as an instructor i cant believe your coach or whatever you guy's complete your training with would do this! i dont know where you jump bro but if this kind of shit is allowed, your dz is fucked too! what your doing is dangerous and you should rethink what your attempting. freeflying can be fun and very safe but you have alot to learn. goodluck you'll need it.
  14. i havent heard any of those rumors about fritz retiring. the flyboyz is more of a company than a team now. does anybody know the last time they competed in anything? i havent read about them competing since ive started skydiving. they do alot of other great things for freeflying. like someone said you get some street cred from competing and video's and you can make enough money to freefly for a living. fritz is probably my favorite freeflyer ive had the pleasure to watch. he is the definition of smooth and relaxed. i watch videos of him for hours so i can try to get into his flying style. he stands out. ive watched video's of big way h/d and without knowing who's wearing what i can usually tell which flyer is fritz. check out the swedish freefly video from 2002. its my favorite video. lots of flyboyz. i would love to see rook in the air. theres not alot of videos with him or the rest of anomoly.
  15. im curious about other neptune owners opinion about the speeds indicated. mine worn on my wrist, is rarley correct. im not just talking a few mph different from my protrack. sometimes it will tell me im going 0mph in the middle of the jump. other times its just way off. im a freeflyer and theres no way im averaging 99mph headown. shit i wish i had that much range! id say it seems correct less than 1/2 the time. after having mine for over a year now i must say im not at all impressed. i find the buttons very hard to press and it takes too long to access info. its also crapped out on the ride up twice leaving me without a visual altimeter. im anxious for larsen and b's new alti's coming out soon. im going to sell my neptune as soon as they're released and give them a try. ive always been happy with my protrack and pro dyter. never faiied me once.
  16. theyre still pretty accurate. but yes mine will still read crazy every 50-100 jumps or so. if you mount your on the outside of your helmet opposed to the inner pocket this will rectify the problem. dont know too many people mounting theres on their leg. seems pretty stupid.

    Free Fly

i paid for rush delivery and got the first suit in the 2 weeks as promised. the suit was horribly off on the measurments made by the owner of the company. the legs were more than 12 in. too long, waist was so tight i could barley zip it up, arms were 6 in. too long and were different lengths. sent the suit back obviously and then didnt get the re-make for over 3 weeks! so right there i waisted 40.00 bucks for rush delivery. that suit was much better. its still tight in the neck due to being to short in the torso. 25 jumps later a main seem began to faail causing a 4 inch opening on the left side of the upper body. i contacted bodysport AGAIN about the problem. i was told to send the suit back again and i would have back in 5 days. 14 days later i finaly got the suit back fixed. so far so good. i told the company when i placed the original order i would write a review of my ordering experience, and unfortunatly this is the review. the experience was very negative. i didnt mind so much that they screwed up the construction, shit happens. i do very much mind how long it took to make good on the mistakes. i ordered with this company because frankly i needed a new suit quickly. i didnt want to wait 2 months from fireflite. ironicly it took longer than 2 months for this order to be right. i will not do buisness with body sport ever again.
  18. the sider mod is the reason your having long openings. did you ever jump the canopy without it. modern canopys are designed to open pretty darn good. you probably didnt need a slider pocket on your canopy unless you were getting unusaly hard openings frequntly. be carefull changing your slider. the canopy was designed with its current slider in mind. so its not always as simple as just using a smaller slider. you can get slammed!! i would definatly contact the manufacture before you do so. 750 is not that long of an opeing. i would way rather be in the saddle 200 feet lower than risk hard openings and a neck injury. im speaking from experience on this one bro. i was knocked out cold froma hard opening under a saber 150! i was grounded from the neck injury for 3 months and its never been the same since. this was 3 years ago and i still have neck and back issues. think again about the rick vs. reward factor. you are risking a hard opeonig every single deployment vs. a bad aff jump that happens very infrequntly!!!!
  19. because that would slam the shit out of him!
  20. correct no joke. know your gear my friend. it will save your life. also riddler, keep in mind you still have a couple hundred more jumps till you can do aff. you will be alot more comfortable with your canopy and going under 3000 by then. good luck. get your aff rating. its a ton of fun, and challenging as all hell. im was more proud of myself when i got mine than when i got through basic training in the marines. its awsome taking someone up on their first skydive. the emotions you will see are incredible. blue skies velo
