  1. thankyou very much for your offer. at this point jeff johnson offered to shoot video, however he is real busy in the summer and may not be available come nationals. id like to meet you my next trip to sdaz if your still jumping there. it will be in march. i may have already met you when i was there dec9th to the 19th. peace
  2. sure lodi would be great too. team jumps in sdaz are 16.50 each/ 50 tickets or more. yes i jump at sd oregon in the spring and summer. i jump at sdaz 30 days in the winter done in 3 10 day trips. ive been meaning to get to lodi for years now. theres a chance i will be out there last week of march. i was going back to eloy, but some friends were planning on lodi that same week. i havent decided which ill go to yet. i have alot of great friends in sdaz so i like to see them whenever possible. are you possibly interested in competing at nationals? can you make a small commitment of 150 team jumps as well as travel expenses to nationals?
  3. whats the criteria for being part of ph in 07. i heard something like a 4 pt 8 way or 8 pt 4 way. is that true. if so where do i send the video? we will miss the awsome shots of ph this year but its not everyday you all get a full paid slot and accomidations iin dubai! have a blast in u.a.e! lucky bastards!
  4. liquid sky has the nicest suits aout there. they are pricey but worth every penny. i think they are way nicer than ouergan, and ouregan's customer service is horrible! they are too busy to answer 3 emails about buying one. imagine a company that wont even write you back when your ready to buy. im totaly turned off by their attitude. i vote with my dollars.
  5. does anyone know where i can get a reseve pilot chute for a reflex. i need one asap before the holidays for a rig i bought for my girlfriend. the vurrent one has a small hole in it and i was told master riggers dont patch them because you have to disa semblle the chute off the spring to get it ionto the sewing machine. is this true. thanks
  6. wood pecker, what ac do you fly, i asked in a previous post but maybe you didnt read it. j
  7. no shit, i cant believe the bsr was the same. thats nuts. if i was jumping a round my cutoff would be 10 mph. actually i did learn on round reserves. thtanks for the info, kinda scarry though.
  8. ray i think he ment the last straw was the high winds with round reserves, noy just having rounds in the student gear. look at his profile, im sure he has many round jumps. they are fine but todays modern dz's do not spot the a/c on jump run for people jumping rounds, otherwise it would take 2-3 passes to get an otter load out. peace
  9. i went from a vengeance 120 to a velo 96. it wasnt too much for me like i was concerned about. it actually was very comfortable downsize. i weigh 185 out the door. talking to other velo owners the 96 seems to be the "money" size. i know alot of folks who weight up so they can fly the 96. at their desired wl. the 96 also opens nicer than the the smaller ones. the slider doesnt hang up as long. most canopy designs have a size thAT SEEMS TO PERFORM BETTER THAN other sizes at the same wl. ie, the velo 96, stiletto 107, vengeance 120, ext... just my thoughts, whatever velo you choose, youve made a wise choice. i couldnt ask for a better canopy!
  10. thanks for that story nick, i being a new affi myself need to hear things like that. i also like the fact that, yes that guy fucked up big time, however he learned his lesson and has since become a good affi.
  11. no, nobody thought anything was odd about that load. or at least nobody seemed to be talking about it. theres a good chance no one noticed. the landing area is a ways from the hanger. the dzo did know the conditions though. he was manifesting! ive been there since. its shaped up quite a bit. square resereves now for students, and cypress aads. also that sli was fired not too long after this happened for un related reasons.
  12. whats up shotgun ray, yea ive been to one dz that got my attention. i was on a 182 at a small cessna dz in the stcks. we were waiting all day for the sky to clear. when it finay did the winds picked up quite a bit, 10-14 with 20 mph gusts. not to mention it was getting dark. i got on the load anyway needing my fix after waiting 6 hours, probably not a good idea. so there i was myself and 3 other guys climbing to altitude when i realize one of the jumpers was a student in the static line progression the other was the instructor. when we reached 10,000 ft the pilot asked if we still wanted to jump? i said i felt comfortable jumping having a good amount of night jumps and a digital altimeter with a night light. i asked to go first since i would be pulling lower than the student on his 30 sec delay. when i landed the winds were strong and it was now dark. i watched the student land out of concern when i didnt see his instructor in the air. he had a good landing all things considered. we walked back to find the 182 parking and the other 2 jumpers getting out of the plane. so i asked why they didnt jump. his answer was, " it was too sketchy and dark, i only have 150 jumps and havent done a night jump so i rode the plane down". i was shocked! i couldnt believe the whole scenario. then i found out that this dz had round reserves in the student gear!!! this sl.i put his student out in these conditions but thought it was too dangerous for himself!! so he abandoned him! very sad, i still cant believe it!
  13. cool fritz, i hope its all going well. man i didnt realize this thread was from april. how many jumps do you have now? its always a good idea to update your profile. peace
  14. your right in the fact as long as he isnt endagering aanyone then have at it. but we are also right in advising him to become proficient h/u before learning h/d. it will help him learn the posistion quicker. no one is saying you cant play with us h/d flyers. we are trying to help him. and yes if he is serious about flying head down he must learn head up first. you cant always just stay on your head especialy during your first 500-1000 ff jumps. so if he cant fly on his feet, whats he suppose to do? go to his belly? im sorry people pounced on you for expressing your opinion. thats fucked up. you were very humble and respectful and you didnt deserve to be ripped a new one. i think some fflyers are frustarted with the amount of " how do i fly h/d " posts. its just not that easy of a dicipline. and someone with 50 jumps thats serious about learning it should slow it down a bit and learn correctlt. its cool to try it out now and then but dont expect to make much progress if your not learning hu first. thats all were trying to get across. it could have been said with more taste though. blueskies bro p.s. what type of a/c do you fly? if your a jet pilot your one lucky dog! i always dreamed of flying when i was in the marine corp.
  15. my first new container bought last year is an infinity. im ordering another this spring when kelly finalizes his new CUT IN harness system!!! i cant wait, hey folks the most comfortable rigs on the market are about to be even better and more comfy!! thanks kelly for such an amazing product, and the best customer service ive had the pleasure to expierience.
