  2. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1748324#1748324 I am not asking for aid merely giving an address if some of you fellow jumpers care to contribute. At this time the surgery was successful yet he remains a quadraplegic, Angela Hale [email protected] is setting up a PayPal account to help them out with such things as month long parking pass's for his wife and mother for unlimited parking access to the Houston Medical Center for like $175 a month each instead of like ?$80 a day. I repeat that I am not asking, merely giving a location that anyone would request if they would care to contribute to the cause. Thank you in advance for those who have the heart to contribute! This will be a long hard road at best.... Peace and God Speed, Conway
  3. Never thought about it? Just as I was until the incident I watched happen last weekend! It means a whole lot more to me now! Just in case my invincible ass gets hurt, I would like to know that the dz has trained staff to keep me alive!!!!!!!
  4. The surgery lasted from 3-8PM this afternoon and they said that they were successful! He is still a quadraplygiac from the neck down at this point but that may change in the coming 2-4 weeks. They placed whatever metal in his spine and he is still in need of the ventilator to breath. Please pray for him!
  5. Update per Rich Delgado; Pam (my wife), Leah, Shari, and I went to the hospital to see Rico and talk with his family last night. FYI if you plan to go visit, they close visiting hours after 8:20. We almost didn't get to see him. Rico looked better than he did Sunday evening. He is on a bed contraption thing that slowly rolls him from side to side to relieve pressure on his body. He definitely knew we were there when we talked to him. He moved his mouth slightly and squinted his eyes. He briefly opened his eyes for Leah and Shari when Leah mentioned that she wants to eat some of his famous Fajitas. Per Angie, they should begin to prep him for surgery at about 9am this morning. Prep will take about 3 hours and the surgery will take about 5 to 6 hours. They plan to repair C2 to C5. C4 is their biggest concern and the area putting the most compression pressure on his spine. He still requires the the ventilator to breathe and has a infection in one of his lungs. The next few days, weeks, and months are going to be a long hard challenge. There is a huge prayer chain for Rico that goes across the U.S., down to Mexico, to Puerto Rico, and Taiwan. Let's all pray for a medical miracle today. Rich
  6. After watching how the Spaceland people handled Rico, it made me think! Most places, probably, he would have died! I only have coodo's for those there! I feel much safer now!
  7. I really never thought about this before last weekends accident. If it hadn't been for the staff at Spaceland after the last incident, it would have been a fatality! The staff of Chris Miller. Hoop D., Brent and Greg saved my frinds life. This may have ended totaly differently had they not been so prepared! Coodo's to these guys for knowing their shit!
  8. I demo'd a CC 95 and after a couple of nice openings it was spanking the crap out of me on 2/3 openings. Got worse at sub terminal, prefers a tracking deplyment. Hit me harder than any Sabre ever did. Flew fine but stalled easily loaded just under 2/1
  9. I just spoke to Angie, his wife. Ellie is still not breathing on his own but is responding to her. He's not in a lot of pain. The nurses told her that he is paralyzed from the neck down as far as they can tell. He's been opening his eyes and looking around much more today than yesterday. He will be operated on tomorrow. There is still swelling in the spine. They also told her it's the damage in the neck that is not allowing him to breath on his own. His future may very well be determined from the surgery tomorrow. Let's keep our fingers crossed and the prayers coming. Peace, Conway
  10. I just heard negative news from the hospital, My team mate was there and talked to the doctors. He is still on the ventilator and not breathing on his own. He may have a bacterial infection in his lungs, this is not good, he still at deaths door. The improvements that we thought earlier may have been false readings.Sorry for the bad news. This is my my brother in heart. This mother fuckin Puerto Rican had better survive this or I'll kill him!!!!!!!!
  11. I just posted first hand explanation of what I saw.
  12. Do you know if it was C4-6 or T4-6? I assume T4-T6, it's in the neck.
  13. I got a message from Angie tonite, I asked her to check and see if there was any response from the lower extremities. None. I'm in tears now...... Maybe time will change this, praise the Lord! Say a prayer for our friend that he may walk again! I was optimistic after the earlier word and am now saddenned.....
  14. From Tom Martin, Angela and I just left the hospital. They are doing surgery on him in a couple of days on his neck. When we left they were putting him in new bed that they can rotate his body in for more comfort. They are also moving him to a different room right down the hall. It just happens to be the same room that they had Tommy Thompson in last year. It will be eerie to see Rico in the same room. His mother said they took him off of the medication this morning to see how he was doing. He opened his eyes and they asked him to move his shoulders and he did. I have high hopes. I feel this is great news this early on, Conway
  15. I just talked to Angie, his wife. This morning they weaned him off the heavy meds for a while and he came to and was giving acknowledgement by blinking his eyes to the doctor and nurse. They will do it again this afternoon after she gets back to the hospital. She was told that the damage is to #4,5 and 6 vertebrae. He wouldn't discuss anything else until she returns. This is all the info I was told. I don't know if he's moving anything else yet or has feeling anywhere. Angie is holding up well. Let's keep the prayers going. This is going to be a long slow road to whatever type of recovery they may hope to attain.
  16. Lisa, He's broken pretty bad and will likely never walk again. From the ER,crushed 5,6,7 vertibrae in the neck on a botched "deadman" swoop. He was kept alive by outstanding care at the scene by Spaceland emplyees befoe the medics got there. He was breathing on his own after about 3 or so hours. He better survive so we can kill him.
  17. Prayers have helped a lot so please pray for our friend Ellie "Rico" Estrada! He's in ICU breathing on his own but needs all the help that we can supply. His recovery is in the hands of our lord! Speak up. please!!!!!!
  18. Glad it turned out ok but 11000' is no place to go EP. Same thing happened to me years ago when I put a 22" pc in my container where the closing loop was really to short and had a hell of a grip on the pin. I used to pull around 2K all the time. Now I'm usually the first to pull in my group and pull in a track just bellow 3K.
