  1. Done a few jumps with mine now and think this is a great fun little gadget. I'm impressed by the quality of the stills. It's no digital SLR but good enough for having fun with and a lot cheaper. For people not wanting to do serious stills (tandem's etc) the pictures are easily good enough. I've attaced a few. Note i've edited out the blacksopt on the sun. The video also was better than my expectations. With all the included mounts you can have a lot of fun experimeting with it. You could stick it on almost any helmet so could save yourself from buying a new helmet for camera jumping. Here's some i took with it mounted on my legstrap. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebIlc_Oa3M8 Overall i really like this little thing and can't wait to use it some more.
  2. http://www.red.com/nab/scarlet Small light, memory stick, 3072 x 1728 recording resolution, up to 120 FPS. Better start saving tho, estimated price around $3000!
  3. By varying packing methods i can make my safire 2 take anywhere between 500-1000+ feet to open (and always on heading). If you want a 500ft opening, don't roll the nose and don't push it in, it's that simple.
  4. Where i am in the UK it's £1.19 per litre. Doing the same calculation as mr2mk1g i thats $8.93 per gallon. Of which about 70% is tax.
  5. Finally got mine put together today.Wings were awsome took 7 weeks for container to come, just to torment me Canopy took 4 months!
  6. Haagen Dazs vanilla, followed closely by ben and jerrys cookie dough, or fish food (thats ice cream with fish shaped chocolate in it if anybody was wondering).
  7. I used to hate now wind days, i could never stand up landings. But pretty much every time i've been to the DZ this year its been a no wind day so i've got a lot of practice in and now i just enjoy it. I got some good advice from instructors about staging a flare properly and just doing one long slow flare. To be honest both seem to work for me. Most important thing that they make me realise is that i don't wanna downsize too quickly. I can land my canopy fine in no wind days, i've even landed it downwind before, but i seriously wouldn't wanna try it on anything much smaller and faster.
  8. Speaking as a lifeguard my answer is no. The official way of doing CPR in the UK changed recently. If the person has had a heart attack then there is still enough oxygen in his\her blood for around 5 minutes, so just doing compressions will keep the blood circulating so rescue breaths aren't necessary. Of course if there is a barrier device use it by all means.
  9. I remember the first (and only) time i jumped through rain. It got me by surprise it really does damn hurt! Didn't have any bruising or a rash tho? For anybody that hasn't and is curious, try shooting yourself in the face with a pressure hose i imagine it feels pretty similar.
  10. I repeated level 3, 2 times and level 4 ,2 times, then went to the tunnel the rest i all got in one. You don't need to be able to stay dead still in the tunnel to pass aff. The sky is a lot bigger! As long as you aren't majorly backsliding or something such that you're a danger to other groups you'll pass. Oh yeah you gotta get practice pulls and turns an all that too
  11. I totally agree with that article. The national database, set up by the government that hasn't managed to get a single computer system to work and all of which have been over budget. It's a bit hypocritical that even though they can track our every move, they recently exempted themselves from the freedom of information act. If it keeps going on like these i think a lot of Brits may just go and find some new land and set up a new country where everybody is free!
  12. 16 straight into AFF! why wait? Now i'm 18 and have nearly 100 jumps, hoping to have 200 before im 19!
  13. I learnt from a video "pack like a pro". I bought my new rig and practiced packing it at home watching the video, then when i next went to the DZ i asked somebody to watch me and tell me if i was doing it right. They gave me a few tips and that was it, just said thank you very politely to them
  14. I know some people diss steve for dicing with death. But hey we're all skydivers we're used to people telling us we're irriesponsible (because they dont understand what we do) when we arent. Steve was a professional. What he did appeared dangerous but he was a very skilled man with extrodinary talent for what he did and i have great respect for him. I was quite shocked when i heard the news. Im certainly gonna miss watching his shows. He was a real entertainer and a great colorful character. I pray for his family and that he rests in peace.
  15. I got to admit i kinda agree with you. I think the USA should be more isonationalist like it used to be. I mean its a pretty self sufficient country anyway. Also i think the rest of the world should see what its like, when America isnt figting to help other people or giving billions of dollars in aid to third world countries. I mean for all the criticisms people have of America it does do alot to help other people which it could easily not do and just spend money making itself even richer.
