  1. Hi Folks, Got some excellent advice from my instructor. As luck would have it, I will be 30 minutes from Perris & their tunnel in early june. Cool!!
  2. It's spelled "Dixie." I do remember it. Or is that the lyrics to a song?
  3. Hi Folks, Did 3 AFF jumps Saturday and by the 3rd one my legs were all over the place. Anyone have any tricks for fixing this? Ken
  4. Thasnk you for your insight. That's the problem: If you think Wal-Mart is corrupt wait until you have an individual or a group of people deciding what everyone deserves.
  5. Helloooooo.... I'm still waiting to hear how much the "living wage" is for that teenage boy floor mopper on his first job. Come on folks, I need specifics. Once again, I remind you that there are a few specific issues I have with Wal-Mart from having worked at their corporate office, I don't love them. However, everything I've heard here is just pure sanctimony.
  6. "...evil is evil, it is not necessary, any company that pays their people a low wage so they qualify for "public" assistance needs to be done away with" OK: I want you to tell me how much per hour Wal-Mart, or for that matter, any company in America should pay a 16 year old boy to mop their floors. Now's your chance to set the lawful wage for inexperienced 16 year old floor moppers. Come on, now, how many dollars and cents per hour should your law require that 16 year old floor moppers with absolutely no other experience make?? When you are done with that, tell me in dollars and cents what a "living wage" is. And once you have established what that wage is can you honestly say that every person in America that is able to punch a time clock entitled to it? Is a living wage a God-given right? Is a "living wage" a God-given right to EVERYONE? I'm not saying that Wal-Mart is without flaw. Reminder: I quit working for them. However, most of what I'm reading in this thread is more of the blithering hysteria I was talking about.
  7. I worked at the Wal-Mart Home office in Bentonville, Arkansas for three years. I left them about three weeks ago for another job. What a ride it was. I can tell you that unless you have worked for them, you won't fully understand the phenomenon that is Wal-Mart. One of the best parts was watching the blithering hysteria of the rest of the world over what looked like to us, just us doing a really good job. I'm glad I worked there, but I'm glad it's over.
  8. There have been misfires, right? Zipp0 I assume there have. Don't know for sure. I think in terms of probabilities: I'm a lot more likely to be rendered incapable to pull than to have an AAD misfire.
  9. I doubt it. If anything, regular Coke is going the way of New Coke. Dasani flavored water, Blak and the new version of Tab are attempts by Coke to stay in the soft drink market, which is rapidly moving away from traditional sodas. -Blind You're right. For the first time ever, non-carbonated drinks are outselling carbonated. I've tried it, It's pretty good.
  10. Back on topic: I think the video is totaly fake.
  11. Now: '06 Lotus Elise Wish I had: '99 Mazda Protoge Wait, I got that backwards.
  12. That helps a lot. Thanks. My only worry is if I get too hurt to start the new job and it's insuranc.
  13. Just got a new job that will allow me to leave my current job at the Wal-Mart home office and WORK FROM HOME. I estimate that the reduced hours and no commute will result in at least an additional 800 hours of free time per year. I'm pretty excited. This will allow me to jump start my totally stalled skydiving pregression. I have a question about health insurance: My current job ends on the 19th. My new job starts on the 24th, but I won't be covered by the new job's health insurance until May 1st. I am concerned about jumping prior to being covered by the new health insurance. I know I can COBRA my old health insurance in the event that I get hurt during the time between jobs. My concern is that if I get banged up real bad and am not able to start my new job, I'll be stuck with paying to COBRA my old insurance while being busted up and un-employed. Am I looking at it right? Any opinions from Knowledgeable HR professionals or attorneys??
  14. QuoteAlthough the city of Harrisonville did not approve our lease for office and hangar space, we will still be opening April 1st. I'm impressed!! Way to go!
  15. Where is Playlinda Beach? Nevermind!! I googled it and it's a NUDE BEACH. You trying to get me killed??
  16. Thanks for all of the advice, folks. i can't wait.
  17. Great news!! I was talking to the kids about the trip and they both said they did not want to go to Disneyworld, they want to go to the beach!! Man, that will save some serious money. Looks like Titusville wins. What's the best beach/resort in the area? Is the week of March 20 the week that theya re overrun with college studebts?
  18. How did you make it work splitting time between family & jumping, or is that what you are talking about? Ken
  19. Hi Folks, I'm going to Disney World with my wife and kids the week of March 20. I intend to split the time between D.W. and jumping, with the following jumping goals: 1) Get enough jumps in 1 week to get my "A". If not my "A," at least get to self supervision 2) Transition to my gear that I recently bought I have 9 jumps. (s/l progression) Will probably have 10 or 11 before I go. Questions: 1) Which DZ is closest to Disney World? 2) Would that DZ be appropriate for the above scenario? 3) What advice do you have to offer? Thanks, Ken
