  1. Is that such a bad thing? Skydiving is not for everybody any more then bridge is. Yes, it is a bad thing. Hang gliding reached it's zenith several years ago and has been on the decline since. Gear manufacturers are fewer than they were before. Fewer pilots meant fewer places to fly. A lot of the hang glider pilots blame the decline on the tandem hang glider ride, which allowed people to taste the thrill without much of a personal or social investment. I'm all for tandems, but there needs to be a better way to get them back.
  2. Call Altico. Mike is a great guy and will spend the time with you to answer all your questions.
  3. What you really need to worry about is the drastic alteration making your first jump will have on the rest of your life. From that point on, everything will be judged by and compared to that one event!! Enjoy it and jump again.
  4. Cheaper is a realative term. My house would cost 3 times as much in the Central Valley.
  5. Nooooo Waaay. I may be new, but I'm not stupid. Thanks all, for the advice!!
  6. Let me get this straight: Next time that I have a normal opening, if I reach up, put both hands in my toggles, but release only one of them I am committing a dangerous act?? Would I not be able to release the second one at the first sign of being in over my head?
  7. Next time I go out, I'll pop one brake and see what happens. I bet that with my big docile canopy, it will be a non-event. Might be a another good argument for big docile canopies.
  8. So why the need for a post here, and why do you have any contact with this POS? OK, now it's your turn: What were you thinking, leaving your kids with this lunatic??
  9. Just because you are related to her doesn't mean you have to have contact with her. If your breakoff with her upsets other members of the family, break off contact with them as well, regardless of who they are.
  10. You can start by displaying good judgement to her by not dropping such a load "pimping out" your Saturn. Dude!! That would pay your AFF right there. PS: Thank you for your service.
  11. Got it. Thank you very much.
  12. My instructor!! Way to go! See you this weekend.
  13. If you don't mind, would you e-mail it to me also? [email protected] Thanks!!
  14. No one has told me yet how you judge altitude without your altimeter. Seriously, I don't understand.
  15. See!! I told you you could run Bull Sluice without a boat!!!
  16. That's "Bull Sluice." At normal water levels you can jump in with your life jacket just above the final drop and just zoom through without a boat. It's a pretty wild ride.
  17. SkyMama is right, you can't go wrong with the N.O.C.. The Ocoee and Chatooga are quite different. The Ocoee is very close to the highway and is almost continuous rapids. It is also incredibly crowded. The Chatooga is more of a pool/drop/pool/drop kind of a river but the rapids are still great. It's also much more of a wilderness experience. If you have a lot of newbies, go on section 3. Section 4 is a LOT more serious. Can't tell you what the crowds are like on the Chatooga nowadays. I used to kayak it about 25 years ago. Dang!! Am I that old?
  18. Sounds like a good idea, but it will be hard to read the numbers when they are going by so fast!!
  19. How do you gain the ability to be altitude aware without using your altimeter?
  20. So would I, to apologize. An apology was sent... I am not a complete ass!!! I own up when I am wrong. g In that case.... I apologize.
  21. [reply At least you were laughing - I wold have been typing back at him. So would I, to apologize.
  22. They were great. Is it possible that Devo marked the beginning of the idea of the "cool geek?"
