If that's what you like, you might have a look at the PD Silhouette (sp?). Alphons http://www.liacs.nl/~avwerven

Have to admit that I once jumped what I think was a Vector. Once under canopy, the chest strap turned itself into a throat strap, which I didn't find terribly pleasant. I recommend trying different containers. They don't make Voodoos that can fit a 210 sq.ft. canopy, but you might still have a look at a Javelin, Reflex, Mirage or maybe some other brands as well. Just my 2 currently quite drunk cents... Alphons http://www.liacs.nl/~avwerven

Or a shoulder... Alphons http://www.liacs.nl/~avwerven

Right on, that's the canopy I've been jumping as a student, and I liked it a lot. My last two jumps though, I jumped a Sabre 170 and I like that canopy even more So, my suggestion is that you try to demo come canopies before you buy, especially since a 210 is a relatively huge canopy. You wouldn't want to find yourself wanting to downsize shortly after having bought a canopy of your own... That's exactly why I'm not buying a rig just yet. I don't want to blow a lot of money on a canopy that I know I'm gonna find too big after a short while. Just my 2 cents though; do whatever you feel is best. Alphons http://www.liacs.nl/~avwerven

Yep, you're right. I know, cuz I have one lying around at home. I'm trying to convert it into a "regular" backpackbut so fat it hasn't been very easy Alphons http://www.liacs.nl/~avwerven

Maybe it's just me, but when I'm flying, there's not usually a hell of a lot of people around that I could ask for directions

Eep! I hope to become a B.A.S.E.-jumper some time, but this... brrrr! Alphons http://www.liacs.nl/~avwerven

I have to admit that I don't dig this one either For the rest, they're very good points. Skydivers don't stop to ask for directions

For those of you who do not wish to see the pretty nekkid lady on my screendump (it's not porn, it's merely soft-erotic) I ran down to the lab and blocked out the "offensive" picture. Alphons http://www.liacs.nl/~avwerven

Oops! I apologize if I got you into trouble. I didn't really think about it. I suddenly remembered I had to take a screen shot, so I did. I briefly scanned the dump for sensitive information but found none. Sorry PhreeZone! Alphons http://www.liacs.nl/~avwerven

Not a cutaway (might have been though if I were lower), but still something that wasn't supposed to happen: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forums/showthreaded.pl?Cat=&Board=forumsafetytraining&Number=47576&Search=true&Forum=All_Forums&Words=fonz&Match=Username&Searchpage=2&Limit=25&Old=allposts&Main=46821 Alphons http://www.liacs.nl/~avwerven

It's not porn - she's alone Alphons http://www.liacs.nl/~avwerven

NOTE: When I dumped the screen, there happened to be a (small) picture of a naked lady on my desktop. There's a censored version of my screenshot somewhere later in this thread. She sure is cute though... To celebrate my 100th post, here is as promised a screenshot of my desktop. I'm running FreeBSD 3.4-release (yeah gotta upgrade I know) and use the blackbox window manager, with my own theme. The background picture was shot during one of my AFF jumps at Perris this summer. You might recognize the guy in the blue suit on the left from my profile picture (in other words: that's me). The JM on the right is Stuart McArthur. As you can see, I developed a predilection for Useless Animated Music Visualization Eyecandy Thingies Alphons http://www.liacs.nl/~avwerven

Nice clintonradloff parody On a slightly more serious note, I did do something quite illegal the other day, but for obvious reasons I'm not gonna tell you guys... well, at least not for a while If nobody ever broke them, we wouldn't even have any laws. Alphons http://www.liacs.nl/~avwerven

Yeah, I agree. I don't read every thread in every forum and it would be nice if I could hide or kill threads that I'm not interested in. There is a downside, though. Since this is a web-based forum, all threads and user information resides on the server. If we were all to have personal killfiles, all those killfiles will have to be on the server, too. It would be nice if the HH agrees to that, but I can understand if he won't. As we're on the topic anyway, I'd really prefer a scorefile rather than a killfile. Just my 2 cents. Thanks Michele! I'll keep it in mind next time I cross the Atlantic. And of course, I'll get you a beer, or whatever else it is you drink. Well, at the store I got "carded" for the first time in my entire life. Smacking my forehead, I realized that I had no ID whatsoever with me. Even though I went out with the sole purpose of buying beer, it never crossed my mind that I would need an ID. Good thing that I was with Tim

Say, why don't we make a Desktop section entry in the Gallery? Alphons http://www.liacs.nl/~avwerven
