With regard to your question - ALL Gath helmets are designed for watersports. Gath do not make a special helmet for skydiving. However, freefalling skydivers like the lightweight benefits and regularly choose to wear our watersports helmets. They understand that Gath helmets (and in fact many other helmets regularly being used by skydivers) are not designed as "crash" helmets, nor are they designed to protect skydivers from many of the injury mechanisms they could encounter. Undoubtedly, if your focus is mainly on impact protection, there are skydiving helmets that will offer higher levels of impact protection - although no helmet will protect from all of the injury mechanisms encountered by skydivers - and there are compromises to be made. The reason more impact protective helmets are not always chosen is because this type of helmet is heavier, more bulky and voluminous, often vision restricting. Freefalling skydivers, who choose Gath, like the freedom of their sport. They like the fact that Gath will protect them from regular knocks and bumps when leaving the plane and on landing - they can therefore have a measure of protection wearing Gath, without compromise to the freedom they love. In times when many skydivers still do not wear any head protection at all, the wearing of a Gath certainly is a good safety option for those that do not want to compromise their freedom and enjoyment. yea, im sorry- that was my mistake- recently I have got in a burble zone wilst trucking and felt it was almost impossible to fly cos of turbulence. The problem is that many people consider flying below or above a person as a flying in a burble..... Its time to rock&roll.
