  1. Jordan is that your first post on dz.com? If so "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience up before your bag of luck runs out."
  2. I had between 2-3 of martial arts training when I was younger. I think the lessons I learned from it were far greater than just self defense. It was a great time and I'm glad my parents allowed me to get involved with it. However for most run-ins I've had (and they are far and few as I'd rather try to talk a situation through then go to blows) I've found I use my 7 years of wrestling more then my martial arts, however your mileage may vary. 3. 3:15:1 3 hump, they were all dreams, but it still counts in my book 14 jump which broke down to: 9 - freefly jumps (8 of them at Couchfreaks) 5 - tandem videos 2 - H&P 1 case owed for my first trip to Couchfreaks. I wish I could have stayed for more than 21 hours but that's how it goes. Edited because I forgot to count one of my H&Ps originally. 4. Well Martin it was there last year Instead of waiting I called the number on the Couch Freaks website. The gentleman who answered said the Jet was a no go. Martin if you dressed up like Borat in the yellow bikini thing you would win Best Dressed hands down. Even Coiner couldn't hang (no pun intended) with that outfit. 5. CONGRATS CHRIS! I was getting ready to drop you a message and see if you were thinking of getting back into it. Again congrats. 6. Listen Borat we're not all high rollers like you I don't care how much the tickets are, I just want to know how much cash to bring and how to budget it. I travel cheap and take as little money with me as needed. If I bring extra I just spend it. I hate using ATMs and paying the fee to get money out. So a 3-5 change in the price could change the amount of money I need to bring if I plan to do 20 jumps. Plus it's just nice to know what jump ticket prices are. I don't think the request is unrealistic or anything like that. Mad man love Marting, mad man love. See you in Fort Dodge goof face (I know goof face is kind of lame, but I'm trying to bring back old school things from 3rd grade. Radical is the next term I'm going to try to bring back.) 7. Well it starts in just over 2 days. Any word on jump ticket prices for the normal planes as well as the specialty aircraft? Also any word on the Jet? I'm trying to figure out if the trip is in my budget. Thanks "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. 8. 0:14:1 Awesome weekend! 4 tandem videos 3 night jumps (2 two ways and 1 solo) 2 AFF videos 2 freefly jumps 2 H&P 1 goof off jump for a friend's bday Case of beer for another demo canopy. I don't think I've jumped my own canopy in 2 months now. "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. 9. I'm no pro, but Clark your statement means the demo wasn't prepared very well (based only off of what I read in your statement). I've only done 2 demos so my experience is limited. So we had to go to an alternative landing area that had not been discussed much less looked at. And the smoke canister that was suppose to be setoff on the ground failed. Both these statements are red flags for me. Clark if you aren't sure why, then ask. Maybe you realize that things could have been done better in the planning. If so then the demo was a success. If not then even though no one was hurt and the crowd was amazed, the fact that no new knowledge was gained makes it unsuccessful. Good luck and be safe. 10. Thanks I didn't have my sound turned on. "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience up before your bag of luck runs out."
  11. Billy- I skimmed the video really quick, what are you using to tell the land downwind? Are you basing it off the direction of the plane on jumprun or the direction the dirt goes when the landings don't go as planned? Thanks "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience up before your bag of luck runs out."
  12. To be honest around 300-500 miles is about a max. Some people replace them later, but it really is up to you. Remember that may seem like a low amount, but if you are putting 30 miles a week on your shoes that's 10 weeks so a new pair every 3-4 months. I'd gladly drop an extra $100 every few months to protect my feet if I was still running (now I bike, swim and row). You are putting a tremendous amount of pressure on your body by running. Take care of your body by giving it good shock absorbers (shoes) and replacing them as often as needed. It will help prevent injury. 13. Thanks. I avoid Google at work because I never know what's going to pop up, but after reading your post the light bulb lit up. 14. Thanks. What does GIYF mean? "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience up before your bag of luck runs out."
  15. I've got a meeting tonight and I wanted to show a couple of rowing videos on YouTube, but where I'm going doesn't have internet access. Can I download videos off of YouTube onto my computer? If so how, because I don't see that as an option. Thanks for any help. "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. 16. Thanks Rosa! It went well, we raised a little over $3,000 for the charity group and raised awareness of the issue and where women could go for help. I'm hoping to do this again next June but increasing the number to 100. I'll know more in the next few months 53 was fun but we could have done more. With that being said I slept for 12 hours when i got home and i didn't even have to pack. "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. 17. Well we are a week out until Couch Freaks. Do we have ticket prices yet for the regular aircraft as well as the specialty aircraft? If not do you have an idea on when a final price will be determined? Any word on the Jet yet? "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. 18. 15:9:0 Ok I didn't get 15 humps but I did get around 15 hugs while wearing my "Free Hugs" shirt. It was a hit at the bar and the DZ. 6 - tandem videos 2 - 3 way RW jumps 1 - H&P "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. 19. I hadn't heard about anything special for Labor Day Weekend. Call up Tommy he'll let you know. "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience up before your bag of luck runs out."
  20. 2 things: 1. She's beautiful! 2. Did anyone catch this in the article: Ezarik said she likes to send a lot of text messages. "On average, I usually send 30,000 to 35,000," she said. 30,000! Dang that's amazing and sad and scary all at the same time. "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. 21. I guess this is where I differ from some. -When someone new comes to our DZ, I'll always head up and say hi. -If I notice a newer jumper having problems with packing I'll go up and help. If I'm not on the ground another regular will go up and do it. -If I take pictures of someone in the air, I almost always will offer to email them to them for free, I don't care if they pay for them or not. -If I'm at a bigger DZ on a 3 or 4 way and see someone doing a solo I'll go offer to jump with them. I don't care if you only have 30 jumps I won't get mad if the dive doesn't go as planned. -If someone asks for a copy of a jump. I tell them my camera is right there. Find the means to burn the jump off and you're welcome to it. Remember guys the idea is to keep the younger/newer jumpers in the sport. I know sometimes we (I'm sure you ask for stuff every now and again I know I do) get asked to do stuff for free or with a small fee. Instead of thinking about the immediate dollar imagine the overall payback not only to yourself but to the sport as a whole. If you do that one small thing (dub a video, install slinks, hook up a main) you may not get anything out of it, but it may show that newer jumper what some veteran jumpers will do for new jumpers and in turn they'll return the favor. We can look at it as "there is a cost for everything" or we can look at it as a "give and take system". I prefer the give and take, but then again I'm a pretty upbeat person. If anyone out there sees me at a DZ and needs help packing or a main hooked up let me know I'd be more then happy to show you. PS: And when I go to a new DZ I don't expect people to drop what they are doing and introduce themselves to me. I'm pretty outgoing and don't have a big problem going up to a random jumper and introducing myself and trying to get on a load. Edited to change most to some.
