  1. I just snapped at my girlfriend to get a job, skydiving is so damn expensive So there we have it, i get snappy 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  2. I've nearly completed my AFF and i have asthma. I dont carry my inhaler around with me in town or anything but when skydiving i take it just in case. Good Luck with your AFF 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  3. I think its just because i've nailed all my other AFF levels and have always aimed for 100% After my exit i think i just had to stop being a dick and realise that i wasnt going to get it right all the time, its taken 7 jumps but i at least now know skydiving is all about relaxing and having fun. I've not had to repeat a level (my wallet was cheering) so i'm doing something right, as you have all said, its not a big deal. Going to do my 10 consols and then do my level 8 Hop n Pop, just to work on my exit a bit more Cheer for all your reply's 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. 4. I had a chat with my instructor today and he told me that obviously they have pro's and con's but a big factor is that if you cut away with two hands you risk going unstable for the reserve, i practiced both methods anyway and to be honest i like one on each, its kinda more semetrical 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. 5. Just a quick note on safety. Just want to know if you've had inconsiderate and basically dangerous pilots in your air space. Today i was waiting to go up and watching for the jumpers when a helicopter came cruising ino the area, i was next to the radio when she asked the helicopter to make a 90 degree turn right and the fucker just kept going (excuses my language but it really got to me) the pilot didnt drop the jumpers as he saw it and decided to go round again. They tried twice to get the helicopter pilot on the radio but he/she never answered and just went straight through. Just to top things off a military jet came cruising in earlier this moring, i dont know if they listened to instructions because i wasnt there, but apparently it came in and then turned around and went back. Is this common??? 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  6. I seriously thought i was going to puke going back in the plane because my head just wasnt right, was feeling so bad after my level 6 even though i passed, my exit scared me i guess. On the way up i was going through it in my head and seriously thought about throwing the towl in because of my nerves, always having fear in the back of my mind but as soon as i hit the deck i knew for sure i'd just figured it out, im making so many new friends and generally enjoying the whole experience, not just jumping 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. 7. Just thought i'd share some thoughts after my 2 skydives today. Im having a problem with my exits, it was my first exit by myself and apparently my first 2 or so seconds are fine but then it went to hell, as i focused on my arch i must have just gone rigid and found myself on my back, i arched and came belly down only flip right over on my back again. I didnt panic and i passed the level once my problems went away at 10,000ft but i felt like shite . I done my level 7 and again went rigid and on my back, without a doubt staying calm has been the hardest skill to learn. I got stable at 11,000ft this time and performed a perfect back loop followed by a track and two 360 turns. I really enjoyed this jump and i couldnt believe how simple the answer is to tumbling and generally having a bad fall, relaxing. I know most of you guys have probably heard this so much and its boring but its a new revelation for me to actually relax that much in freefall, im now cleared to do my consolidation jumps, i cant wait to jump by myself 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. 8. I've been reminded twice in 5 jumps to put my goggles on, i get so pumped up and forget the small things which are damn important, its all about relaxing i've learnt Level 6 tomorrow 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  9. Theres a big pond near my dropzone that i use to get my bearings, its a good mile away so i was never too fussed about it and never thought twice about what would happen if i landed in water. I'm 5'6 and 140lbs, i'm ok in the water but i think i would have had SERIOUS problems with all my rig, i'm now off to do some research Cheers for sharing your experience, i think it was a valuable post for noobs like me 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. 10. I dont know about IAF but i do know that in level 1 AFF you dont need to worry about going unstable because you have two instructors falling with you. But if you do go unstable its simply a case of arching, they'll drum it into your head until you start falling asleep at home arched. Good Luck mate. 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  11. I should of done a poll, interesting to see how many people do both on cutaway or one in each 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  12. I'd like to know the exact percentage of RSL's that have worked, i have been told to never rely on rsl 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  13. This thread has just gone way above my head 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.

  15. Nice advice mate, my AFF instructor has warned me about not peeling first Dont underestimate the strength of velcro Cheers guys for replying you done NOTHING to set my mind at ease 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  16. From what im reading your AFF has a slightly differant structure Lvl - 1 basically exit (i managed to get the pull signal on lvl 1! thats gota be a record) Lvl 2 - Still working on exit, this time throw a track in Lvl 3 - They let me go when i was stable Lvl 4 - 90 degree turns Lvl 5 - 360 degree turns (that was fun ) Lvl 6 - Still waiting to do 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. 17. I think it shows guts that you had a bad landing on your first and linetwists on your 2nd (even though you didnt need to yank your risers) and your still pumped, good job. 2 of my landings made me crunch up a bit in pain (swearing while waving that i was ok) so i've taken to sliding on my bum anyway . I dont look especially cool when im sliding on my arse but at least im ok, only thing is my last jump i flared, got in slide on your arse position and landed like an angel, was gutted i wasnt ready to run with it lol 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. 18. I do mine all the time im glad to say, but in doing so i've lost all my friends as they get sick of me trying to teach them it . Basically because i tell my girlfriend and friends how to do it im drilling it further into my thick skull Its just the thought of the main not coming fully away that makes my stomache tighten . Also 2 more levels and i get to do a Hop n Pop which i've been informed is great fun so im gona camp the DZ a few days this week and get some serious jumping in
  19. Being a skydiver and working at a DZ is pay in itself, i'd give anything to be able to jump the amount my instructors do p.s not in a good mood, it was too windy for a novice like me today . Is it normal to be physically pissed off because u dont get to jump on the day u wanted lol 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  20. It all sounds so easy on the ground, i know during my skydiving that one day im going to need to ride my reserve down and the thing that really scares me is the idea of my main not coming fully away and my reserve getting tangled in it, tangles are a bad road to go down . 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. 21. Thanks for the info, just hoping the weather holds out now for saturday and AFF level 6 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  22. Cheers for the reply. I know what you mean about how you can't change procedure aswell, i was taught on normal rip cord and after 3 weeks when the weather cleared i was told that the they had changed to throw away's, first AFF level and i nearly held onto the throw away . Also what factors make the cut-away's hard or easy? 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  23. Lol its not like a was going to change my drills, they've been hard wired into my brain. All i wanted to know was the reasons for both, as you all keep saying there are pro's and con's, what are they? Im sorry if it's a newbie question you've heard a hundred time's, but im yet another newbie 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  24. I have been taught in my 5 AFF jumps time and time again that if you are going to cut away you follow this procedure 1.) Look - Chin down looking at your chest 2.) Locate - Grab both handles firmly 3.) Cut-away - With your right hand pull the velcro up so your thump is like a pivot on your chest then yank to groin 4.) Reserve - Pull very hard to groin 5.) Arch I was watching a video and saw the procedure they taught was slightly differant, they taught you to locate the cut-away with both hands. Why is this? I would have thought that if your having a bad one and had to cut-away you might not be able to find your reserve, so with a hand on each handle i just thought it might be easier. Can anyone fill me in on this? 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
  25. I started smoking weed at around 14 and gave it up at about 16 so i know a thing or two about it, i have LOTS of friends that smoke and none of them skydive and its a good job aswell. Effects last depending on how much you have smoked, could be a couple of hours or 12 hours. Its very difficult to smell it on your breath like alcohol but it clings to every fiber of clothing and your hair. Even light use will impare judgement and relax you. I would imagine that if you did skydive stoned you would have a problem with altitude awareness 1338 People aint made of nothin' but water and shit. Until morale improves, the beatings will continue.
