  1. Ahh....Rules are good when they keep me alive. Stable is BORING!!! Do tell of the Chicas....I am VERY SINGLE!!!!
  2. Got right on that....put three in last night. Now if I could only figure out where I can actually read what I wrote. Check my review on Raeford. You'll get a good laugh at my dig on Greg. Whats kip always sayin to him...."Greg!..old people should be seen and not heard..."
  3. Sounds better and better all the time. I just saw a post talking about their exit order there. The guy was saying they put tandems out first and as a free flyer he kept ending up with four ways opening up around him? WTFO? I had a friend that should have died after a Combat Controller came through his canopy on a HALO jump. The video was bad and his injuries worse. Dont want to see my canopy coming at me at high speed just after opening......Haven't been to Spain before so it should be a great experience and I'm definately a hard core Free Flyer.
  4. If it's that bad I would post his name and phone number on every skydiving related forum there is. When he is known to everyone as a thief he wont be in the sport long I'm sure.
  5. Soothe the fears......the quote on CNN was "Mummy, I want to fly again!" Some of us are just born to fly!!!!!!!! Blue Skies and perfect hooks. Clay
  6. SHHHNIIIKEEEEESSS!!! I was thinking of going there in October. You are quickly changing my mind. How was it other than they dont seem to understand wind drift and altitude concepts? LOL
  7. Have you ever seen anyone that got zapped by power lines? I have at Raeford DZ last year. I was on the scene almost as he hit the ground. The guy was dead (and on fire) when We rolled him over. He came back for us and is fine as far as I know now. It wasnt a pretty sight. I cant think of any good excuse for going into power lines. Hit a tree, building, fly into traffic, whatever it takes but dont fly into power lines. The flat turn suggestion was very good advice. BTW, he only went into power lines because of a main reserve entanglement. OK so there is one good excuse.
  8. I was flying a PD190 when my A license was shiny and new. At 66 jumps I'm still flying it at 1.28 wing load. It is fast enough for me to have fun yet slow enough that I am thankful when I am landing out or havent jumped in two weeks and do something stupid on final( as I did two weeks ago). All in all it has been a great canopy for me and yes I can get a little crazy with a hook turn and some surf. Not as impressive as the Icarus Redicarous (Skymonkeyone) flyers out there but I'm still learning and dont wish to kill myself anytime soon. The fact that your canopy choices were at that wing loading is a good sign. Keep your safety in mind!
  9. I use furniture polish on my airplane windshield. It leaves a fresh lemmony scent and no streaks. Makes water bead great too for those rainy day jumps.
  10. No the policy is that you PAY UP FRONT! I mean they want to hold on to your credit card all day or cash up front. To be fair they will set up an account for you. You are still paying up front and as long as their math is correct you wont have problems. I think jump tkts would make people feel better....not that it would bring me back. Keefusa: The staff will tell you anything if it gets you to the DZ. They would probably be willing to tell you you'd have a D License in a weekend if they thought it would get your money. The other big problem I had was...Who the Hell charges tax on lift prices? Last I checked I paid $21 a jump there. $19 plus tax.........Let's talk about jackasses swooping non-jumping spectators at the picnic tables. Not only stupid but very danegerous to the DZ's existence. I saw several near disasters in my weekends there. I dont think those old people and kids had any waivers signed? The landing area has been much improved although it is still the top of a hill. In recent times power lines and trees have been removed and the new AC packing area is very nice. The spool riding was an awesome spectator sport!!!! Once again...I just dont think that the atmosphere was good there. I had the feeling that if I burned in on a jump I would be on my own to call an ambulance because the staff would be too busy getting the next tandem or AFF on the plane. Just my opinion!
  11. I wont blast ASC too hard but I wouldnt send a student there even if I didnt like them. The problem with ASC as I see it is this. Ben is way too profit motivated, to the point of deceptive business practices. Since I'm not an "expert" on Tandem safety I wont speak on that subject either. I can tell you I have seen things there that I didnt like. Even though ASC is only 45 minutes from my house, I make the drive (1 and a half hours) down to Thamaston every weekend. The atmosphere and people there are great as well as they have a full time Otter instead of the "plane of the month" at ASC. I have heard good things about Monroe if that is closer but havent tried it yet.
  12. Who's been skydiving in Spain? I'm considering going in the first week of October. Is it worth the trip? How's the weather in October? How's the night life, beach, etc?
  13. Hope you can figure out my name. I'm a computer geek for The Large Telecom company in the Southeast. I was in the military for ten years but decided not to stay. Skymonkeyone was one of the many fine JM's that taught me to skydive at the Green Beret Sport Parachute Activity at Ft. Bragg. Thanks Guys! I already bought beer!!! and no Greg you cant smoke all my cigarettes!!!!!!!!!
  14. Yes but the requirements are stiff!!!(Pun intended) You must be 5'4", blonde, 110 lbs, with measurements in the 38,28,36 range and have a shiny new set of knee pads....
  15. Spectre230, you saw skydiving in a movie once right?
  16. This is my home drop zone even though it is twice the drive as ASC. The people are friendly and always willing to help out a fellow jumper. They have professional coaching available for both RW and Free flying. The landing area is huge(and flat! unlike ASC) and there are plenty of outs. Manifest takes care of the jumpers and accounts for them on every jump. If you land off rest assured that someone will be there to pick you up(probably before you even land). The staff and jumpers here are very safety concious. I wouldnt jump here if they werent. They have a full time Super Otter and Wendel's Cessna. Nice shower facilities, restaurant, and plenty of space for camping. It has had a recent management change as Mike finally gave up the DZO game but I havent seen much of any change in the operation. It's a great place to Skydive! I only gave it a 9 because it doesnt have a bar like Raeford, NC. Let's change that....
  17. In the immortal words of the Horse on Ren and Stimpy "No sir....Didnt llike it..." Bad things= Dangerous swooping of spectators...general unsafe attitude. Good luck finding an out unless you are WAAAYY out. Tax on lift prices??? Who are you kidding??? Landing area is the top of a hill. I never saw manifest go get anyone who landed out unless it was staff. Didnt see staff helping anyone that had a cutaway find their main or free bag. I never saw staff outside accounting for jumpers on the load. I felt like I could have burned in and no one would notice. Just didnt have a very friendly atmosphere. WTFO with the 27 listings on the internet under different names? Businesses with practices like this usually dont stay around long. You never know what plane will be there this week???? A bit of a walk to the plane. Good things= Nice AC packing area. I saw a lot of new Mirage rental rigs. Jumped one of their old Dolphin rigs when I was waiting for mine to come in...What a rag!!!! I think those have been retired though, hopefully. Spool riding events are a great spectator sport. Thats all I can think of. I would rather drive twice as far to go to Thamaston and I do every weekend.
