you got it ALMOST right: it's ok to be driving SUVs that weigh up to 2 tons when you are 16, it's ok to get killed for your country in *pick a country at least 2000 miles from the US* but it's not ok to have a beer until you are 21 (and we are not even talking sundays yet) flummi * Respekt - ist uns're Aufgabe (fanta4) *

    At last

I envy you... I just saw that rock from the other side of the bay. Must be a great jump! flummi * Respekt - ist uns're Aufgabe (fanta4) *
  6. just for clarification: REGA is a swiss organization, of which Air Glacier is a part. they have an office in Saanen (Gstaad), in Lauterbrunnen and one more (i forgot where). from what i had understood, they will pay ALL remaining rescue cost for members that their own /other insurances (credit card, AAA, health insurance, whatever) have not covered. now you have put a doubt in my mind, i will go back and look at the small print of what happens when you don't have any insurance. does not apply for me, but i can well imagine that my ADAC insurance (german AAA) will give me a hard time for paying for a basejump-heli-rescue... flummi * Respekt - ist uns're Aufgabe (fanta4) *
  7. my deepest condolences. thank you for what you two did. flummi * Respekt - ist uns're Aufgabe (fanta4) *
  8. Yeah, and Mikki learned German long before English. NO, he did NOT! He speaks English fluently, and apparently also Spanish, but his "German" is kinda hard to understand... gotta remember, he's swiss hey mikki, how was LB today? i am writing this out of the VJ-hotel in interlaken... flummi * Respekt - ist uns're Aufgabe (fanta4) *
  9. well done, MATT 1069... you do know this clip, right? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmLsm_ZgLms i especially like the part where you throw that bottle (or was it a can?) behind you (at about 1min07sec). i would assume you are not from switzerland, and i am glad to see that you are an ambassador of environmental issues and our sport. thanx for leading us the way and helping to promote a positive image of basejumpers through the distribution of your personal video! i guess in that respect it's only consistent that you walk AWAY from where the exits are. oh, and thank you again - i learned a lot from your very educational video too. i thought jumping big walls was supposed to include tracking (you know, forward movement during freefall) to get away from the object. STUPID ME... now i have understood that's totally not the case! flummi * Respekt - ist uns're Aufgabe (fanta4) *

i guess felix the great will have some experience :-) but seeing his body position on that video, i am not sure you'd want to take his advice... flummi * Respekt - ist uns're Aufgabe (fanta4) *
  11. are you sure??? i have been there within that timeframe and it was NOT open. and after 2 yrs in italy i have come to understand that opening times are more rough guidelines and not set in stone... (not a criticism, but a fact that one has to accept) yes. why not? that wall is definitely safer at night (with moonlight) that during the day. winds are lower. well, i guess then you don't need the weather station eiter, that's true. but just to be safe, it would be nice... flummi * Respekt - ist uns're Aufgabe (fanta4) *
  12. you might want to check out vodafone and their "travel promise" or "passport" product (branded according to the country you are in. i guess it is the best deal amongst the "traditional" telco providers. another thing on expiry of prepaid cards (i know you did not ask it, but there was a thread not long ago). in general, cards "expire" only if they are not USED within one year from the last use. a "USE" is defined as changing your balance (decrease: making a call, sending an SMS / increase: reloading the card). so simply by sending one SMS, you can keep whatever card valid for another year. love, peace and happyness, flummi flummi * Respekt - ist uns're Aufgabe (fanta4) *
  13. ok, but not out of a pool or into a foam pit! flummi * Respekt - ist uns're Aufgabe (fanta4) *
  14. Whow Tom! Either you got just carried away, or you have done some SERIOUS excercise since the last time we met.... Hundreds of jumps - means at least 200. 200 jumps in 60 mins (=3600 secs) makes an average of one jump every 18 seconds... and this a whole hour long ;-) Sorry, could not pass on that one. flummi * Respekt - ist uns're Aufgabe (fanta4) *
  15. just a though: can the console be placed inside the bar, but still be visible from the outside (e.g. behind a window or something)? this would help if people want to jump outside bar hours... flummi * Respekt - ist uns're Aufgabe (fanta4) *
