  1. Most definitely agree. Who cares? All this back and forth about issues that don't matter a hill of beans. If yoiu are happy with the direction our country has taken over the past few years, then by all means, elect McCain/Palin. If you fear what your country is becoming, then elect ...well, actually, damn near anyone else. It's that simple really. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
  2. As used by the Republicans, elitist is the code word for 'uppity'. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
  3. A significant step towards the overturning would be to elect mccain and palin. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
  4. The chairwoman of an Alaskan political party that advocates a vote on the state’s secession from the union said Tuesday that she had been mistaken when she said Gov. Sarah Palin had been a member of the group. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/03/us/politics/03party.html?ref=politics Correct. Her husband was a multi-year member and both have been active in the party and attending their conventions. To quote the party's founder, "I've Got No Use for America or Her Damned Institutions" ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
  5. Admittedly, the title of the article probably could have been clearer. Palin fires librarian in attempt to ban books
  6. As political convention speeches go, I thought she did quite well. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
  7. Well, I could call the public library and ask if any librarians had been fired for failing to agree to the mayor's 'bad book' list. That's more to the point here, don't you think? Allowing the ideological bent of local politicians decide which books are appropriate to be in public libraries may be common in your neck of the woods where beauty pagents judge contestants on looks, personality, talent and ethnic purity ...but i find it repulsive. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
  8. http://www.arguewitheveryone.com/politics-news/27449-palin-fires-librarian-attempt-ban-books.html Is this true? ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
  9. To me, Obama lacks any credible executive leadership. As a senator and a former legislator he developed policy, he did not enforce it or have to make high pressure time critical decisions. I don’t feel that overseeing his congressional staff, college interns or chairing some committees qualifies him to be commander in chief. I am sure in the future he will make a great leader but not now. As far as getting deeper in debt or moving to a police state we do have a democratically controlled congress that can change that so that does not concern me so much. As for the rest we will just have to agree to disagree and hope that what ever the outcome, things get better. Would it be fair to sum up your view as 'thank you sir, may I have another?" ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
  10. Wish you well with the gout and good luck with the Wernicke-Korsakoff. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
  11. My bad, I guess instead of asking if you read what I wrote I should have written if you understood what I wrote. Please read the highlighted parts below, I AM talking about the future, that of my kids and grandkids!!! Also, I did not grow fearful because of getting old, I am fearful of one person that wants to lead our country for the next four years. The reference to getting older was only to express that as you do so, you usually gain life experiences and some form of wisdom (so I hear) that sometimes gives you more insight as to what is and could happen in the future. I fully support and respect your right to choose too. You do know that you can respect someone’s views without agreeing with them don’t you? Disrespect is never good and generally shows poor character, but then it is one of those things in life that you either have it or you don’t. Stay safe and be well, Mike Let me clarify. I respect you right to choose but let there be no doubt, I do not respect a choice that continues to fuck what my country once stood for. How does voting for war that cost trillions of dollars and countless lives, combined with the continued degradation of our constitution make life better for your grandchildren? If I did not respect someone who molested your granddaughters, that would be a bad thing and poor character on my part? What is there about Obama that scares you so much you want you granddaughters to inherit deeper debt and a country moving closer to a police state? ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
  12. It has nothing to do with honor. The illusion would be on your part if you think that Obama can protect us more than McCain. But I would love to hear how you think he can do that. Well, since Obama and the democrats were in charge of congress and did nothing I guess the same can be said about Obama. Did you not read what I wrote? Yes, I did. You grew old and fearful. You chose the past, I choose hope for our future. I fully support your right to choose ...but I won't respect it. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
  13. So, you trade your country's honor for the illusion of safety. If you are satisfied the directions our country has taken these past few years, McCain is the man for you. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
  14. Sigh ...more silly little girl behavior. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
  15. He would lose what he views as plausable deniability and the ability to come back with, "show me where I said ..." ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
  16. Seriously. The way I see it, the past eight years have been shit. Under the present administration, the very principles of this country have been violated. Our country has become one of robber barrons with war for profit and power. It's time to restore the value of our constitution, stop making policy decisions for big corporations and oil speculators and be a better world neighbor. I think McCain is a decent man and I have no problem with his VP choice, but it's time for a change. It's time to win back America. So, I'm not nuts about Obama, but I will not lend my support to the party that so damaged my beautiful America. It's hard to imagine anyone who values what this country once stood for lending their support to the party leading the past eight years. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
  17. Sigh, it's soo female to harbor resentment. Just let it go, sweetie. It'll be good for you in the long run. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
  18. Yes, I do. Unless you go shopping in the middle of a trailer park? Reversing that analogy, does that mean you view yourself as being mentally disabled? Did you ever know a child who repeatedly acted out knowing their behavior would end in punishment? They did this because negative attention was preferable to no attention at all. http://www.coping.org/lowesteem/actout.htm ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
  19. heheheheHEHEHEHEBWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I scan some of your shorter posts for amusement value. So that means you are usually responding to me without actually knowing what I said... and then thinking that you're right. I got it all after your first few posts. You hate a lot of things and a great number of people. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
  20. Did that even make sense? Let's see . . . the First Amendment guarantees (among other things) freedom of religion. Why would a liberal assume that a creationist would want that repealed? Shhhh, he's on a roll. I guess you were more comfortable not reading my detailed, reasoned explanation. heheheheHEHEHEHEBWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I scan some of your shorter posts for amusement value. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

  23. I think he could have gotten more mileage out of other women in the GOP. This one is Qualye like. I'm not sure too many bitter Clinton fans want a woman that badly. As we can easily tell from our more right wing (er, centrist) posters here who will support anyone who promises them guns, military aggression and swift retribution against transgressors (actual, potential or contrived) [You don't understand, they killed my dog!!] politicians have always counted on a sizable percentage of ideologically narrow voters. I suspect the choice will draw some number of voters who want a woman (any woman) elected to the White House. What that number will be, we shall soon see. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
  24. In terms of qualifications, she only needs one ...will she increase the chances of getting McCain elected. I think the GOP made a good, strategic choice. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
  25. Perhaps you haven't noticed, but the first and fourth ammendments don't mean too much in present day America/ ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
