  2. I asked aerodyne the same question a few years ago and this was their reply:
  3. hahaha, I thought she's brill! Thanks for that
  4. The OP should add the option "0 - I'm a woman" It's 0 for me anyway...it's easier and cheaper to get a reservation any other weekend of the year if you want to eat out!
  5. The British collegiates are going out to Perris early April. We thought it would be fun to meet up with some of the US collegiates, and perhaps organize some friendly competitions. Does anyone know what university clubs jump around the general area / how to contact them? I've tried contacting Ben at www.collegeskydiving.com but am unsure whether he still maintains the webpage. Thanks!
  6. A bit tired so can't find exactly how much is on land/in sea...according to wiki; "In East Antarctica, the ice sheet rests on a major land mass, but in West Antarctica the bed can extend to more than 2,500 m below sea level"
  7. Not true as the cubes won't be submerged. Yes ice occupies a larger volume than the same weight of water - but that is what is above the water level...so if you melt the ice cube it would fit in the "hole". In the glass analogy you're not supposed to fill the glass completely with ice. You fill it with water, add some ice cubes and see whether the level changes as the ice melts.
  8. Do you really believe that? Frozen water will displace liquid water equal to its own weight, this is the reason ice floats (1 gram of ice takes up more space than 1 gram of liquid water). Imagine an ice-cube, floating in a glass. Then imagine that you remove the ice-cube and are left with a "hole" in the glass of water where the cube was. If you then melt the ice cube, the resulting water will exactly fill the hole. You can easily test this at home by putting some ice cubes in a glass and see if the level changes as it melts. As long as the water isn't frozen solid the volume will not change.
  9. a bit off topic sorry, but aren't mantas one-size-only (288)?
  10. A bit OT since it doesn't apply to students, but still a nice website! http://www.jumpticketprices.com/

  15. oh ok. The guy selling it wasn't sure what it was so I just looked around at pictures, and it looked like one
  16. cheers for the reply. I saw someone else on ukskydiver who said he picked it up for around the same price as you did. -however, I do not know how much the added cutaway system etc makes? just trying to figure out if I can get a good deal out of this one, or if I should get something new and shiny
  17. Hi! I'm thinking of getting http://www.ukskydiver.co.uk/cms/forums/viewtopic.php?f=87&t=16165 It is a hawkeye - I believe the manufacturer has gone out of business. The guy who is selling it has a pc120e in it - I'm planning on putting a pc105e in. The 105 is quite a bit smaller than the 120 but he says he's got the original bracket which hopefully should fit. I'm a total camera newb so 2 questions: 1) How much roughly is it worth? (just the helmet) 2) Can you see any cons? Thanks! Antonia.
  18. I'm sure it will get better once you get more used to it and you get off the student gear =) (padded leg straps are great ;) )
  19. Luckily, some dudes are eager to learn. So many men, so little time for education
  20. Too few men know about the 'come here' gesture!
  21. If it's because you cant be bothered to pitch/take down the tent you might want to consider a pop-up tent (quick draw) - pitches / is taken down in just a few mins.
