  1. what altitude did you jump from? nice weather, and great pics
  2. yikes, good thing you're okay, mate. i remember when i had surgery on my nose to correct a deviated septum and they prescribed painkillers.
  3. i can see your plane's undercarriage.
  4. Dude, take a couple of days off from posting. Are you looking get people flamed again? BTW, you should thank everyone else here for hijacking the thread. yes, because stating that the neighborhood is predominately black is inherently racist. i'm driving around low income predominantly black housing and i see a white male in business attire on a children's bike. stating this must make me card carrying member of the kkk. wow, just wow at the ignorance. let me go get my net, it's running rampant around here. i don't mind the people hijacking the thread. it's ironic to have people be angry at me for being childish, and then follow suit. at least i stepped up and apologized. an no i'm not going to bother justifying any of their remarks, so you won't see me responding to them.
  5. $2.29 for premium. cost me $23 to fill up my civic the other day
  6. i dig those pants, what brand are they?
  7. does anyone every take their altimiter with them around. like to tall buildings just to see how high up they are? lol, i can imagine people's faces in an elevator if someone was riding up looking at their wrist altimeter
  8. mind you, this is in a predominantly black neighborhood, so that made this sighting even more odd.
  9. i'm driving through the projects today and i see this: an adult white male in his early 40's business apparel (blue button down t-shirt, dress pants, dress shoes.) riding... A Yellow, BMX bicycle that looks like it's designed for 10-14 year olds (i'm not talking about goofy graphics, i mean the bike is TINY.) i just gawked and rolled on. but seriously, WTF?!
  10. 8:00pm-9:00pm EST synopsis: BASE is an acronym for Building, Antenna, Span, and Earth. These are the things BASE jumpers like Jeb Corliss leap off of, to the chagrin and consternation of authorities and their loved ones. The sport first took shape in the late 1970's after a group of experimental skydivers began making regular jumps off El Capitan in Yosemite. An underground network of thrill-seekers has evolved to the fringe of the mainstream. The leading risk-taker in this extreme sport was Dwain Weston, an Australian-born computer programmer who died while pursuing his passion. Both Dwain and his best friend, Jeb, had made hundreds of BASE-jumps off buildings, bridges and cliffs. Dwain introduced Jeb to the rush. They were inseparable. They were in the air together when Dwain struck a bridge during a jumping exhibition in Colorado. Inexplicably, Jeb continues to BASE jump. He's survived more than a thousand jumps already. He's also been arrested a few times while pursuing his passion. i already set my tivo.
  11. trying to get the thread back on track and the spotlight off of me. we were having a good discussion.
  12. No, you said you show them a good throw. no. perhaps you misunderstood.i said for them to show a good throw when it comes time to pull. quoted:
  13. Really? Then what's this: did i say, i sit them down and teach them to throw? no. i said for them to display a calm confident throw (their instructor will be the one to teach him/her how to throw), not to panic if they have a hard time finding the ripcord. and to reiterate a post i made from page 2:
  14. luckily in all my years boarding, i never broke my wrist, but i know what it's like to catch a toe edge and go ass over teakettle down the hill. get well soon, mama.
  15. i see it differently, allow me to elaborate: when i went for my DEA physical aptitude test, i was nervous beyond belief (if you fail twice you can't reapply for a whole year.) one of the guys who had done it before (failed) and was here on his second try came up and talked to me, he could see that i was distraught about making the grade. he came up and told me that i had everything i needed to pass, just go, relax and do it. He didn't tell me how i should run, or do my pushups, or sprint, etc. that's what i do with first timers. "hey, first time? yeah. it's gonna be great! just relax, be sure to breathe normally, and totally enjoy the ride, you're gonna have a blast." i don't try and teach them technique, i leave that to the pros. see where i'm coming from?
  16. tandem passengers, my next jump will be my first IAF i just talk to them tell them to relax on the way down, enjoy the view I believe that if you had made that a little clear early in your posts, you might not have gotten so much attitude in return. —but... let these people enjoy the first jump, who cares about "show a good throw"? dude it's their first jump. // that's why i prefaced that with (if they're serious about pursuing AFF) i never said i taught them how to throw. they take what their instructors teach them and apply. i'm telling them to remember it in the air. to have a cool head about them and be calm. i'm not putting on a USPA coach's hat and barking, "OK! HERE'S HOW YA DO IT!!"
  17. Talking, advising, sharing? What? And are you talking about being a passenger on a tandem jump or actually skydiving? In the first case you clearly have a fresher view point than the person with the 3000 jumps, and your butterflies are probably still flying strong in your belly... in the second case... well... clearly not. // tandem passengers, my next jump will be my first IAF i just talk to them tell them to relax on the way down, enjoy the view, (if they're serious about pursuing AFF) i tell them to start good habits now and maintain good altitude awareness and show a good throw when they pull.
