  1. Who the Eff does Russell Simmons think he is, anyway? I HATE Pepsi; Gatorade is another story. Boohoohoo some no-talent jackass multimillionaire lost an ad campaign. Bought a case of both tonight.
  2. This sort of came up at work today-my deployed friends asked me to send them nonscented baby wipes, nonscented insect repellent, fast food packets of condiments, Gold Bond Medicated Lotion/Ointment and a few more technical things. For those of you who were considering "Any Soldier" packages, try this site instead: http://americansnipers.org/ 100% good to go, I am not affiliated but they're doing a good thing and your donation is tax deductible-check em out.
  3. Quote: in a laundrymat at 230 in the morning with one of my most crazy and hottest ex girlfriends ---- Isn't it amazing how it was always the hottest with the crazy/psycho ones? ---- And to answer the question.....tied between in a hospital shower and on a golf course.
  4. Sparky, I'm not a rigger yet, but there is hope ;) Got a little closer to this today at work. Bump
  5. Partially trying to keep the thread alive and partially soliciting advice of riggers on related biz expenses. There's a thread running in the Bonfire for the last few days on much the same subject for those who don't come here. Thanks
  6. Bob, I'd love to, if I had two nickels to rub together. I was hoping somebody here would lay the info down. Thanks
  7. Bump, I'd love to get this tied up this week
  8. Personally, this guy makes me glad I pay taxes. We don't send Marines overseas to play slap and tickle. We send Marines places to kill people and break things.
  9. That noise does not scare everyone. The people that aren't frightened by that-you're going to need the shotgun chambered for anyway.
  10. As a general reply on this one make damn sure you know the state laws on what you can/can't do and when. Last thing you want to do is spend 25-life being Bubba's new biotch because you wasted some scrote who may have deserved everything you did and more but quirks of the law disagree with you. Best advice I can offer if you have to shoot is shut up other than to say "I was in fear for my life" in one fashion or another and then lawyer up. Many people it seems talk their way into jail. You might want to read In The Gravest Extreme, by Massad Ayoob. Also, try to be as conventional in your firearms choice as possible to rule out any issue-confusion from the prosecutor. I'd like to keep an MP5SD3 with an AN/PVS14 by the bed to repel boarders with but my relatively unadorned 12 gauge pump does the job. And don't ever, ever plant evidence or do the "shoot em outside and drag em inside" thing.
  11. Well, it's a matter of build it and I can go. I don't want to let the upstairs know about it until it is a done deal. Kevin's busier than a one-legged man at an asskicking contest. I've got a load of extra time right now, so there's the rub. I'll take all the good advice on this I can get. Since rigging and related skills don't...exactly... overlap, I'll have to standup philosopher my way through it. The last big hurdle is figuring out the details of the writeoff. I will however take all the suggestions I could get on this deal. git er done
  12. Aggie, Already working in that direction. I've got a moderate amount of marketing experience as well as product development so it is up to me to make the situation smell like roses. Kevin is hugely busy at the moment but he's doing what he can on the back and forth for this. Great suggestions here, keep it up!
  13. Gravity, Now I'm getting somewhere. Shop manager says it has to be neatly packaged up before I can sell it to "upstairs". Sewing/shop operations are 100% business relevant. I just need details now on if the travel/accomodations are a writeoff too, etc. PM me and I will give you an email if it helps. This is HUGE progress for me, you've given me more than the state tax people have. Thanks man
  14. AggieDave, I was reading Delta Force by COL Beckwith, and he has an account of the pre-Iran phase where a burglar broke into the house of one of his sergeants and got 9mmed to death. Oops.
  15. Had a very drunk college kid (I live in an apartment complex near a college) trying to get into my apartment around 4am something like 3 months ago. There's something very convincing about hearing a round being chambered in a 12 gauge... Glad he ran off.
  16. OK, help me out on this one. I'm not a skydiver or rigger yet...but I do work at a company that does commercial sewn products for the medical field. We need something like the training Kevin McGuire is planning on giving (check the gear and rigging thread). My big problem is that unless I can find a way to make it a tax writeoff for the company, there's no way in hell they're going to send me 1200 miles from here for a week on the company dime. Help!
  17. Kevin, Got a little more headway today, email me at the email I sent in PM please. Anybody else: Can somebody help me find the particular tax area where employers are reimbursed or refunded for employee training expenses? That's a big selling point for making this work for me. Thanks!
  18. kinda sorta floated the idea to the shop manager today and she was for it, now have to get upstairs to see things our way. I'd be shoveling $hit for a month of sundays to pull it off, but it would be worth it.
  19. Nightingale, word I had was late March due to real life commitments, with this becoming a more than once thing if it becomes workable *maybe*. I super really want to make this happen for a lot of reasons but can't afford to do it on my own because I be po. I guess I am the unofficial cheerleader for the class. Help me!
  20. Lets make this happen. I'll take the next couple weeks to see which way the shit blows at work, and try to find how The Powers That Be feel about it. Kevin wants to keep class size small, but he needs enough live bodies there to make it worthwhile. I'm in if I can do it on the company, any other serious takers?
  21. Kevin, I just started a new job that this might be sort of maybe kinda justifiable as training for- it would be sweet if I could get them to foot the bill for non-rigger me.
