  1. Funny how the ones that make the most noise about 'waterboarding is torture' don't seem to have any problems advocating it's use for people THEY don't like... I think you missed something (aka "whoosh") You'd be wrong. My statement stands. Thanks for playing, though. Whoosh whoosh. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.
  2. This IS Bush's recession, deny it as you may. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.
  3. Look at the graph I posted - that came from the OBAMA administration. The red dots were added to show the adjusted unemployment numbers (not the U6). So, yeah... Bush promises don't play into that, sorry. So Obama has been slower to fix the Bush recession than originally expected. Pity Bush and the GOP were in denial for so long before taking action last year. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.
  4. So you're in favor of racism as long as it benefits you?

  6. And then there's what ACTUALLY happened during the show - hardly unsurprising that it WASN'T on media(doesn't)matter: If you really think that wasn't deliberately staged, I have a bridge I'd like to sell you. Even his "apology" was an insult. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.

  8. Who was forced? Sales people can't "make" someone buy something. if the numbers are as this article suggests then there has been a pretty systematic defrauding of the black community (in other words affirmative action for the white population) I've noticed that all you're cries of racism are for poor black people, generally from the inner city. There are other ethnic groups too in similar situations, including caucasians, latinos, asians... They also bought into these ARMs. Do you not care about them? Or is it because including them shows that it wasn't racially motivated. Some time ago the federal government put in place the "3-day rule" allowing people 3 days to back out of contracts within 3 days for certain transactions from which 1st mortgages were excluded for reasons I don't understand - probably lobbyist pressure. Now, I doubt the feds would have bothered unless there was very good evidence of inappropraite pressure exerted on buyers by unscrupulous salespersons. And there is very good evidence that many of the mortgage brokers who helped create this fiasco were unscrupulous. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.
  9. Even the Limbaugh apologists posted this excuse from his own mouth: Ladies and gentlemen, I’m sorry. Let me tell you very quickly what happened last Friday night. There was a new in list and new out list that was published in the newspaper. The writer said in, cute kid in the White House; out, cute dog in the White House. Could we show the cute dog in the White House who’s out, and they put up a picture of Chelsea Clinton back in the crew. And many of you people think that we did it on purpose to make a cheap comment on her appearance. And I’m terribly sorry. I don’t–look, that takes no talent whatsoever and I have a lot of talent. I don’t need to get laughs by commenting on people’s looks, especially a young child who’s done nothing wrong. I mean, she can’t control the way she looks. And we really–we do not–we do not do that on this kind of show. So put a picture up of her now and so we can square this. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.
  10. Hmmm, been kind of interesting googling this claim. I will post what I find I'll save you the trouble: Still, "Saturday Night Live" saw fit to air a sketch that compared Chelsea, then 13, unfavorably with Vice President Gore's daughter. The first lady was furious about that, and even angrier when Rush Limbaugh took this shot: "Everyone knows the Clintons have a cat," said Limbaugh. "Socks is the White House cat. But did you know there is also a White House dog?" And he held up a picture of Chelsea. Washington Post, Feb 27, 1996 (among many other sources). And then the lying hypocrite tried to deny it: mediamatters.org/research/200703070012 If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.
  11. Ah, it is not a problem with me. I have never advocated the firing of anybody. Free markets forces will take care of it IMO. So more people will tune in to the program due to all the phony outrage, and his income will increase. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.
  12. You must not have heard him (Obama) taking credit for the (mybe) up coming change in that country You can certainly take credit for completely misunderstanding what you read. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.
  13. The price of oil on international markets is denominated in $US, and the dollar has maintained parity with that If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.
  14. Wow...no shit? Perhaps you recall the 'tech bubble'? You know, that thing that popped in 00 and started the recession that y'all blamed on Bush in 01? According to NBER the recession started in March 2001. Bush took over in Jan 2001. Ok, for the sake of this thread I will give you we are in a Bush recession. What was the dallar valued at when Obama took over? What is it now? What was it valued at when Bush took over? Exactly! Care to answer the question? Asked and answered already
  15. Which party was denying "The R word" for clearly partisan electoral reasons well into the fall of 2008, when early action could have lessened the impact? If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.

  17. Maybe, he's just an evolutionist. Seems to fit in perfectly with the liberal teaching. If evolution is liberal teaching it must mean that neolithic mythology is conservative teaching. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.
  18. No, people in all areas can BE nutty. To what extent is based on your views and beliefs. In all cases, a very few are really dangerous. I hate it when I feel a need to apologize for some vocal, predominant, Christian spokesperson that makes these absurd statements. Every Christian grounded in Scripture recognizes the folly of this preacher's foolishness. The shame is that all those who do not know Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour jump on these comments with the attitude of the top quote. It is sad. Not because there is no substance to the preacher's position but, sad because it conjures a fantasy in the mind of the nonbeliever that if he becomes a believer he must identify with the aforementioned nut. No you do not. I have been an active Christian minister, counselor, teacher and servant of our Lord for 28 years and I in no way think or believe that position has any merit what so ever. Why should a nonbeliever take your opinion as any more valid than that of the Baptist Preacher of Death? He IS a spokesman for Christianity, as was the pope who authorized the Inquisition. 19. Put a rogue DEA agent in charge of healthcare? In case you hadn't noticed, the government has busted and indicted the rogue agent. (Your comment is as daft as using Ken Lay or Bernie Madoff as reasons that private enterprise shouldn't be in charge of healthcare.) If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.
  20. Well, did the pundits ever call that one wrong! If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.

  22. Remind me again...where was your 'let's wait and see if it works' support of any of the last administration's programs? As I recall, we HAD to have to stimulus to keep unemployment in check...unfortunately, it doesn't look like it has. (see attached) So Bush's Recession is worse than originally thought. It was only a few months ago that you right wingers were denying "the R word" altogether. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.
  23. The flaw in the argument is that it equates amassing wealth with creation of wealth. 150 years ago that might have been generally true, but today we see the manipulation of wealth (without actually creating any wealth) as a primary means of getting wealthy. The shennagigans of the investment banks that led to the current economic mess are a good indication of this. If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.
  24. I don't think anyone of either party in the government forced investment banks to take the absurd risks that led to the current hard times, nor did they force GM and Chrysler to make bad decisions that led to their demise. Did you sleep through the elections last fall? If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.
  25. Unlike Ken Lay, Madoff, Skilling, Kozlowski, Ebbers, Keating and other true capitalist patriots (not to mention the patriotic folks who ran AIG, Indymac, etc. for the benefit of all of us). If you can't fix it with a hammer, the problem's electrical.
