Maybe you also missed the memo about how many people don't have jobs today because the economy has tanked... Yes, I'm sure some of those losses are people with big money just trying to pocket some more, but many businesses are really hurting and those cuts have had to be made just in the hopes that the company can survive... For those of us with jobs, many have recieved cuts in pay and benifits for the same reason, but got to at least keep a job. Consider the possibility that forcing employers to take on additional costs in this kind of economy just might cost more people their jobs ... This was clearly an act of terrorism, it introduced a new fear (or terror) to many people, made the war come back a little closer to home and reminded people just what it is that we are dealing with. As far as out of state licenses go, I *HAD* no problem using my south dakota license here what so ever... There was a couple of places I went to where they decided to look my license up in a book. Most bars, grocery stores, etc. have these books which show licenses from each state and tell them what kind of security features to look for to identify a fake.. Military ID always worked great, unfortionately, I just got out and I dont have that anymore. I have a CC with a really crappy picture on it, ... I guess I could take my chances that i can get in with what I have but I'm going to be really upset if I get turned down on the day I'm supposed to leave. You would think I could have kept the old one, I don't get them. Never needed a passport before, so I don't have one.. I'm going to get one now, but that wont help with my travel this week... I get to texas, I go in to get a new DL (just out of the military) and for the first time that I've experienced, the state here does NOT issue a lisense when you are in the office... They took my last ID from south dakota and now it's gonna be 2-3 weeks before they MAIL me my new one.. How the fuck am I supposed to get on a plane that I'm supposed to get on this friday?!? And how the hell does the state NOT have the technology to issue an ID when you go into the office, I had to goto 3 gas stations just to by stuff that you need an ID for.. So stupid. I like texas, but this is the dumbest shit I've ever delt with, I now have NO ID for anything except for this "temperary" peice of paper... Jeff, our first and last jumps together were the same, and the last jump I did with you was the last time that I saw you... You, Matt, and myself exited the plane and just linked up and because we didnt really know what else to do we just spun around so much that I couldnt even see straight, I will never forget the good times we shared in the sky and I will always cherish the signature that I have in my logbook from a true American hero. Unfortunately the last jump we did was immediately before shipping out for the army.. I wish I could have seen you when you came home but our schedules just never seemed to match.... I am going to do everything I can to come back to california for your services and when I do make it Matt, Norman, and myself will do a jump in your honor. Actually from what I've seen the digital neptune is more accurate than many of the analogs (by looking at altitudes at jump run, some analogs run 500ft different from eachother, neptunes tend to all be pretty close to eachother ..) ... As far as the battery issue, that was an issue with some old software versions on the Neptune and has been fixed for quite some time... THey are pretty good about letting you know when the battery is low now, just make sure it's up to date and that your using the recommended batteries per the Alti-2 webpage. Keep in mind that every malfunction is somewhat unique... Just because you might not have someone post saying that they had a spectre with line twist that started diving does not mean that it couldnt happen.... A canopy deployment is chaotic and anything can happen. That aside, I have never had anything even as minor as line twist under my Spectre... it's a damn good canopy, but I'm always ready for that hell ride towards the ground spinning on my back at 90mph FGF #??? From what I have jumped best to worst with * next to canopies I own(ed): * PD Reserve (just had to throw that in ) * Spectre 170 (my current canopy) * Safire 2 189 (I actually tie this with the pilot, both good) Pilot 190 * Fusion 210 (also very good) Silhoutte (spelling?) 210 Origional Sabre 1 210 (this thing sucked) Old beat up PD 210 (This one was just a POS) FGF #??? I have heard that the PD Reserve has been the same all 17 years, however I recently heard that there may be differences between the older ones (like mine which is about 15 years old) and newer ones, ... Newer ones easier to pack / less pack volume? Any riggers (or others) have any experience with the older PD-Rs vs. the newer ones and have any input to this? As a side note, regardless, I do intend to replace my reserve with a new one this year assuming that I have the money to do so. FGF #??? I miss the sky...
