  1. QuoteOkay the following are signed up for the "late afternoon" 21 way Saturday. Cindy P. (I think) Oh yeah definately count me in....but as usual I probably won't be able to make the whole dirt-dive, just tell me where to go ( Hey watch it)..& what to do... Latest CONFIRMATION: Chris Martin from PRECISION AERODYNAMICS with a fleet of demo canopies..... And get ready for the wackiest prizes ever. (for a skydiving event) ....everybody gives discount coupons, videos, jump tickets...dvd's etc etc.....Not us......no way we gotta be completely different because we're just like that.....can't say exactly yet what the prizes will be , but think along the lines of boom box, mini-fridge.......small electronics.......booze........In fact, how about some input in this department...bearing in mind we'll be gicing away quite a few, so try to keep it in the $20- $50 price range.......Ideas anybody?? What would you like to win in that price range?
  2. Yeah, that would be cool, Rowland, Rick Lee, & Bob...what about those old Panama City boys Denny Moore ....& the old Live Oak crew Jay & Tim &Tom B, & Frankie Q & Guppie & so on & so on. Believe it or not, T- MAC has been jumping a bit lately & he even remembers how to pull, which is no small feat at his age..... But the people who haven't jumped for a while need to get out there a bit before the Boogie 'cause a sky full of people & canopies is not the place to get the dust off....
  3. Oh man! What memories...Remember the last time we tried the speed star thing.....up at Quincy IL, dueling speed star race.....out of a Casa or Skyvan...the old farts (of which I was one) against the youngsters--we thought for sure we'd kick their butts with all that old time swoop ability, but alas they beat us by about 1/5th of a second (can we blame that one on Ashmore??? or was it someone else...me maybe??) But, now that some of the youngsters are with us old farts...hmmmm maybe we can beat the new crop of youngsters.....:) And if Kevin shows up, well that's like BASE-O-MATIC.....in fact if what I've heard about Tony is true, He & Kevin could be an awsome base for some hybrid jumps..
  4. Ah, don't pick on Jeff, you know he's all married now & keeps having those kids so the the only playing he gets to do these days is with the Little Mermaid & such. Another update CONFIRMED :Chris Martin representing PRECISION AERODYNAMICS with a bunch of demo canopies. So everybody can try every thing & let the best canopies win !!! Speaking of canopies & winning. We are putting together a little low key swoop meet on Sunday morning at 9 AM... (we figure not too many people wil be up to swooping that early) It will be 3 rounds, 2 Accuracy & 1 distance....there is NO ENTRANCE FEE.....It will be 4-5K Cessna jumps for $10... All prizes (not your typical skycive boogie prizes) will be donated by the DZ, North Florida Parachute Sales & Service and various other non-skydiving related sponsors.
  5. QuoteFandango????? Oh man...this is what I love about new jumpers....you mean we haven't shown you FANDANGO yet??????? Boy are you in for a treat....OK this wkd when the jumpin's done & the beer is flowing......we'll have to sit you & Dawn down & show you the greatest skydivng movie scene of all time.....BTW any similarities to your actual first jump course are purely coincidental.
  6. Chris; You have been misinformed. It has nothing to with that at all. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Anybody who knows me knows that I myself am quilty of that. I am probably the only DZO in the World who closes my DZ to go fun jump at other DZs with jumpers from my DZ. You are very welcome here and have always been. If you decide not to come to the party, we'll miss you. But please think again before making a decision based on an inaccurate report.
  7. Hey Brian...never heard back from the Anomoly guys so that may not happen But it is confirmed that TJ Landgren (not to be confused with ~TJ Lundergan)will be here CONFIRMED offering freefly coaching jumps and organizing freefly loads for the more experienced freefliers.
  8. We would be very happy to see you at our big 10 year party. Please check out our website news page for all the details: http://skydivetallahassee.com
  9. How completely inappropriate of you to make public announcements based on heresay. This forum is not the place to discuss the internal staffing problems of a Drop Zone. You are completely incorrect in several of your statements. For example how could somebody be fired who never worked here? Are you Chris Whitley stating in this public forum that Lee Girrard worked at Skydive Tallahassee? And if so, could you specify exactly what dates he worked here please??
  10. No sorry dude, they are not confirmed.....but we will have Aubrey from Aerodyne & Justin from Mirage . We are working several different organising options.......I will announce when confirmed. BTW somone said you had invited the Pink Mafia ...is that true? If not, pleasse extend an official invite on my behalf......... PUKE BROTHERS AND SISTERS..If any of you are reading this....your presence is mandatory. Oh yeah, and we have a band lined up for Friday Night (not the same band as Saturday night) SO everybody play Hookie from work, get here Friday & get in on the beginning. Working on a third band, too. Oh yeah, and did I mention that one of our sponsors is a Huge Liquor Store Chain??? Market Square Liquors........I think Jose & Jack will be there :)
  11. Hey Tony, so glad to hear you're coming. it's shaping up to be a great event with lots of industry support. great skydives planned & memorable parties (our specialty) We just added on 2 new sponsors today. Marcus didn't mean to leave Rantoul without saying bye, he just kinda got way-layed. Bring all your friends, this PARTY WILL ROCK !
  12. Thanks for your kind words Aubrey...You may have to duke it out with Fortson over who gets dibs on the sunset stuff, 'cuz he's organizing a sunset 21 way & I think he means belly...& I don't think he means tracking. But I think you can take him :) Disclaimer: skydive tallahassee is in no way associated with the operation of any type of casino and has no first hand knowledge of such activity..we have heard rumors about some local guys who take all the out-of-towners jump money while filling them up with good beer served by the Swedish bikini team however. You've been warned.

  14. Oh Man this is getting way OUT OF CONTROL..Not only do we have the SIN BROTHERS, but I just got a confirmation from Scotty & Tammy Carbone that THE CARBONE ZONE will be there and we'll have Scotty's great cooking to look forward to. And I thought we'd have to have local caterers.....this is too good to be true, but it is :)
  15. Oh my G---- The SIN Brothers...Maybe we can get some of those Christian Skydivers to convert you & change your wicked ways..... Latest Confirmation: PERFORMANCE DESIGNS will be there "in force" with a giant tent, lots of cool people and DEMOS.
  16. mozzie, you know mosquito..come on you've been around the Britt enough to translate that bastardised form of American that he speaks..... I want to CONFIRM the following Boogie Details & will add more as things are confirmed: CONFIRMED: BIRDMAN with Instructors available to teach the wing suit first jump course & demo Birdman pants. AERODYNE: with factory reps & demo canopies on hand. MIRAGE SYSTEMS Factiry reps to answer your questions DJ & BAND Saturday Night BEER BEER & more BEER BEING NEGOTIATED: SUPER OTTER/ 20 WAY RW Organisers / Members of Spaceland ANOMOLY for Freefly / High Altitude Jumps/ HELICOPTER/ Band Friday Night/ Sunday morning Swoop Meet. (FCPA Rules) We need Freelance FAA Rated Riggers to pack Mains...come make some $$$
  17. No Lindsay, I actually mean just the opposite. I have seen quite a few deployments over the years where LOW wing loadings seemed to be related to a higher incidence of end cell closure. To answer somebody else's question. The jumer had two prior problem free rides on this same canopy.
  18. This past weekend, a jumper visiting our DZ for the 1st time had a problem with his Tempo 120 Reserve after a cutaway of his main canopy. The left 2 cells of his reserve refused to inflate. The jumper has over 500 jumps and is the FAA rigger who packed the reserve. He stated that he could see no entanglement of any kind and no other reason why the cells ahould not inflate. The reserve was well loaded as his weight is aprox 185 lbs. He reportedly made every attempt to coax the cells to inflate. He managed to keep the partially inflated reserve flying straight by pulling very hard on the opposite riser & landed very hard. He did a good PLF & was uninjured. After landing , the rigger/jumper & myself (a rigger) inspected the canopy & could find no signs of line problems or structural damage or any other visiable reason why the canopy did not fully inflate.
  19. The DZ will be open until sunset. Yes the Cessna can go higher, but you know it's a Cessna so it takes a while, so we won't be flying "altitude" Cessna loads Friday because we want people to get in lots of practice swoops. So Friday will just be low ones. Usually we fly our King Air on Fridays but our King Air pilot will be out of town because one of our Instructors is retiring from the Air Force Friday & having a big to do up at Moody Air Force Base.
  20. Skydive Tallahassee will be open at 2 PM on Friday the 18th if anybody wants to get registered. gear checked etc. We'll be there to help guide you to local hotels, get set up for camping.....& although our King Air pilot will be at Chief Hollers USAF retirement dinner in Valdosta, we can drag out the Cessna for those of you who want a few practice runs on location. Cessna jumps are $12 to 4,500.
  21. OK everybody calm down please....I recieved an email telling me that Brian was pissing everybody off, so I thought I had better jump on here & see what was going on. Yes, he was jumping a Jedei 136 at 100 jumps. After lots of training , specialized advice & much critiquing of his first dozen jumps. All of his training jumps (AFF etc) were on Safires. He has always had exceptional canopy control & has never done anything unsafe....the stupidest thing he has ever done is getting on this forum & giving people the wriong impression. Did he mention that he weighs in at about 140 soaking wet? Yes we may be a smaller (not as small as some people think) DZ. He does not have to go to Deland or ZHills for training...one of our best kept secrets is that we have some of the Worlds best instructors right here. Several of our jumpers are Pro Swwop Qualified, and regularly offer good advice to novices. We have DZ policies regarding wing-loading. 100 to go 1.1, 200 jumps to go 1.2 . 300 jumps to go 1.3 400 jumps to go 1.4 after 500 jumps you can jump anything you want...however you are sunject to loosing that option if I see anything stupid or dangerous. I am the DZO & I can and will ground anybody from jumping anything I feel is unsafe. At the same time, I try to balance that with not holding anybody back if they have the abibilty to perform above the average joe. Nobody wants to see an accident on my DZ any less than me. I have over 7000 jumps. I know a little bit about skydiving and canopy flying. My next in command has over 4500. jumps & several other of our Instructors have over 2000 jumps. Collectively we control what people are jumping. On rare occasions we will let somebody load higher than our quidelines IF they have demonstrated good judgement, ability & skill. In spite of the impression you may have gotten, Brian posseses all of these qualities.. Some people just come across the wrong way in wriitten format- he's one of those. If you actualy sat down & talked with him, you would probably feel a lot better. It doesn't matter who recommends what canopy to whom...it doesn't mean we will let them jump it here unless we feel that it's not a problem. Nuff said
  22. Not a chance. As a former Sr Tax advisor I can assure you that the IRS considers it taxable compensation......
  23. I have 2 reserve rides under the old style 5 cell swift reserve (and 5 jumps using one as a main..just for fun) It did everything I needed it to...opened fast and reliably, steered & landed me standing up. I also have 5 rides under PD 143 reserves...they did all that the Swift did, plus, let me fly around a bit more (lower descent rate- may be important on a bad spot) and landed me super tip toe soft.... My 3 personal rigs all house PD reserves..but I would not hesitate to jump just about any other ram air reserve out there.
  24. Not to bum any body out, just wanted to let any friends who had'nt heard know about Paul's motorcycle accident....On the way to Lake Wales for the CRW World Record..had a bad accident on his motorcycle on I-10. He's in Shands Hospital in Jacksonville with some very serious injuries, including spinal injuries.
  25. I don't really know when or how they got started...but I became a Toadsucker back in 1985..in Homestead Florida on jump # 113 in a four way (stack that is)with Jon Sikorsky, his brother Gino Condon & Bob Lacey...or was it Bill??? Haven't had much contact with them over the years, but they were always a nice bunch of guys.
