  1. But back to cooper...Jo...if you have Duane's personal belongings and you find something like this, see attached photo, you might convince us of Duane's parachuting experience... hangdiver "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  2. Well Farflung...you've done it again...! Posted my favorite DIY helicopter lesson! I have "some" helicopter time...mostly bootleg hours...with 2, yes (two) actually logged hours of instruction in crop dusting G model Bell helicopters. I have had the opportunity to try and fly without a safety pilot/instructor but declined due to having two brain cells functioning. In my two hours I did hovering 360s both directions with take offs and landings without instructor intervention...all the while screaming...I got it!...I got it! That was the hardest thing I've ever done in an aircraft! I'm sure you know helicopters don't fly...they beat the air into submission...boy, those were the days... I think the real hero is the guy with the camera...personally I would have been running as fast as possible away from the impending carnage...and I'm a videographer! Oh, one year I had to recover 3 crashed helicopters from the field...damn near broke the company...after that we had to operate with no insurance for a while...no one...and I mean no one...even Lloyds wouldn't talk to us. hangdiver "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  3. My name is 377 and I am a Cooper addict. The first step in our program Robert is to admit your addiction. You are among fellow addicts so there is no need to be ashamed. You do have a life, but you also have an addiction. The signs are indisputable. You've resolved to quit many times but you always come back. By your own admission, this addiction has led to large financial losses. Need I continue? 377 My name is hangdiver...I'm a part time cooper addict...when my other addictions don't take up too much of my time... That's pretty funny 377... eta: sorry...gotta run...I hear another addiction calling me... "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  4. First off...I'm not gay...not that there's anything wrong with that... I worked for a couple of gay guys for eight years...yes they paid well...carpentry work...and confidant...I was safe...not gay and didn't repeat anything said in private.. The one owner was divorced with two great kids...grown...and neither one gay. I am a good listener...I have been paid to listen to these guys talk about there lives...with that said, I was blown away at how many men that were "straight" would have casual sex with other men...and yes they were married with children...so I'm just sayin... Bernie...? I'd give you 100/1 odds Blevins... hangdiver "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  5. Well as long as were talking raptors...in the mid 90s on our DZ in NorCal we found a Great Horned Owl chick that had been thrown from the nest or fell. My partner( not that kind of partner, DZO partner, not that there's anything wrong with that)raised it by hand...an awesome bird! When it grew up he could call it during the day...I have video of it somewhere...he calling it and it flying through the trees and landing right next to us on a rock for a treat of chicken livers and a snake. Snowy, the owls name, one evening after a bunch of tandem videos, flew up at dusk, landed on my camera helmet and was pissed I didn't have a treat so he stole the cloth that was covering my camera helmet. Man, I have seen some cool shit and have video somewhere... hangdiver "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  6. Well done 377...lawns are not green...if you get my drift. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  7. No not me...I don't bowl...I jump out of airplanes and off objects. So there...but I did have a friend that used to do aerial bowling out of a Cessna 150 for fence posts and trees...now that bowling ball would kill you from high impact. Sorry...thread drift... 8. I'd think that really depends on where you are sitting I said "pretty hard" not impossible... "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  9. That is a highly negative view imho. I am alive when I leave the plane and I plan to stay that way until im on the ground , and should I lose consciousness or be unable to pull my handle , I will rely on my aad (as a backup) . Are you really under the impression that if you do nothing you will live after leaving the aircraft? Will your reserve open in 300' with you spinning and tumbling? Look, I have investigated a fatality that occurred with the jumper conscious and spinning on his back until the AAD fired. He was over rising terrain and the reserve somehow flipped through below the slider after burning the shit out of his jump suit arm and legs. The reserve had 3 seconds to try to open, did I mention he has video of his own death. I did my investigation first without ever seeing the video to not cloud my theories about what happened. In the end I watched the video...I had a hard time trying to figure out why the reserve never fully inflated in that 3 seconds until watching the video a dozen times frame by frame. There was exactly one frame showing the flip through. That reserve might have never opened. Find another sport! "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  10. Settle down georger, take a deep breath... Did you not read this in my above post on DNA? I am self taught and have so far educated myself into a chronic depression. You admit you don't know some things: So how do you know that tie was actually Cooper's? How do you know the cells that the FBI have contains mitochondrial DNA? I realize Keratinized cells can contain some mitochondrial DNA but you assume, I guess, that the sample the FBI has is Cooper's and contains some mitochondrial DNA. My question to you is...how are you so sure of this? respectfully, hangdiver "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  11. Well I've heard from a reliable source that my above post is in error about snow pm'ing quade. Do you care to comment Quade? I really think you should give snowmman another chance. He's a great researcher even though I know you bump egos with him from time to time. You have given him a lifetime ban. I have many friends kicked out of USPA for life that have been given a second chance, does Ray Cottingham ring a bell? He was on the infamous flatbed truck in Yosemite in 1980, one of the nicest guys in all of skydiving. He showed the likes of Norm Kent the ropes of Freefall Cinematography. What say you Quade? Sincerely, hangdiver "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  12. A cursory look at wiki says... Wikipedia I'm not a biologist but I count 4 basic types of Epithelial tissue with a few more subtypes. Here's the type of tissue around the neck... Wikipedia Wikipedia The tissue around the neck should be of the Keratinized type. Wikipedia Definition of "integumentary": Wikipedia So the keratinized cells (no nucleuses and no nuclear DNA) cannot give the unique fingerprint because that is where the mitochondrial DNA is located, which is apparently needed for a complete DNA profile and it is gone in the Keratinized cells. Can anyone confirm the above description? So, whose dead skin cells does the FBI have?...that's anyone's guess... "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  13. Yep, I think the same about snow but who knows what pm's he sent to quade...you know, while pulling too many silver tabs and posting. I try to not post impulsively especially when drinking late nights. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  14. I think being unconscious going through my pull altitude is the only reason to have one, I don't. I don't jump as much as I used to but I have jumped with an AAD...tandems and a couple of jumps that some would call stunts. I really don't have anything against AAD's except I've had one friend killed by an AAD (the reason for airtec's speed model)and none that I know of have ever been saved by one. I was taught you're dead the moment you leave the aircraft if you don't pull your handles as you should. I was also taught you're always jumping your reserve, the main is just for entertainment. Now days a lot of people jump reserves so small that it makes them incapable of saving them without input from a conscious pilot anyway, so what's the point in having an AAD...wait I know...for idiots that forget to pull while fully conscious. Ever heard of a 113 base canopy...? It's pretty hard to die from high impact when bowling but I know people who've come close, yeah, they where skydivers... Let Darwin pick up the slackers, you know, the "natural selection" guy. jmtc, hangdiver "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  15. I for one, after really thinking about it, hope Sheri/dan really did it and got away with the perfect crime... Not so much, as I don't condone criminal acts, but more as playing the/a game by the rules...gaming the game...didn't he say something like that...? He has a great alibi, with proof, well good enough for the game...uh uhm, I mean the FBI. If he really did do the deed, he tried hard to look like he didn't know what the fuck he was doing... I like Sheridan, whether he did it or not...he jumped with bat wings... He's a cool dude! eta: didn't snowmman find this guy? hangdiver "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  16. Farflung, I love your collages...Butt I do get distracted by the female butts...not that it's a bad thing by the way...I read this thread for many reasons...first for the entertainment...second for the cool info that I get from reading between the lines...but sometimes my lens grinder for the glasses I use to read between the lines is not available when I need him (a little gnome by the name of Yahooty) who was introduced to me by my late uncle who just happened to live above the Columbia in Husum, Wa. His son, my first cousin, is still a Columbia river pilot, for ships up and down the river, who most likely knows that river better than anyone I have contact with but have never broached the Cooper subject with him. Anyway, I just dropped in to say I really find your posts very entertaining among other subtle inferences. Also thanks to everyone else who entertains me through this thread...really. I just wish I had the time to do some of my own research, as I am a Cooper groupie but have a bit of a cash flow problem myself which takes up a lot of my time, you know, robbing old ladies of their ss checks. It's not that honorable but pays the bills. hangdiver... "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  17. Should I click on the DB Cooper thread...?...na...yes...yes...I have to know.......... "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  18. I know Jerry...that's my point...yep been reading for years...very entertaining when sitting home recovering from the Docs trying to fix about 60 years of self inflicted physical abuse...not that I'm complaining... "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  19. That's some funny shit Blevins...I wanted to name my son Axel Cumulus but the babies mother put a stop to that...damn mothers anyway...I don't think Cumulus Frisby would have gone over any better... "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  20. I just gotta say...great soap opera...and...I have to agree with Jo..."You don't make this "SHIT" up." it happens...carry on... "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  21. The 2x4 joist and rafters were trussed which is standard for that application and 24" centers is also standard but requires 5/8" rock on ceiling. You can use 1/2" but it has to be 16" centers for 1/2. I'm not home at the moment so I'll check back when I've got the time. I think your crow is safe 377. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  22. Robert, did you actually see hinges? A freeze frame of the show just shows a plywood board across some joists, but it doesnt show the full area of the plywood piece. I have pieces of plywood in my attic that are just layed across joists to provide an area to stand on or walk on. With insulation installed you cant see much. I just want to be sure that the MYTHistory Channel isnt spinning a loose piece of plywood into a hinged secret compartment. 377 I have been in hundreds if not a couple thousand attics in all stages of construction(licensed general contractor since 1985)and that was a "crawl board". That place has been remodeled at least two or more times since Kenny has lived there. Why not talk to the contractor, he'll know the real story... I have been involved in shooting video and a participant in more than a few TV shows. I can hear the producer asking Mr. Blevins which profile to shoot to hide any facial imperfections and saying "doesn't that board look hinged". I recorded the show, backed it up and did a frame by frame and there were no hinges shown. They don't call it a "show"for nothing. People are still calling and that's a good thing Mr. Blevins. I think Burnie may have something to hide but it's not a crime to spend the weekend in a trailer with a good friend. "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
  23. Well that was pretty fuckin weak... This thread is more entertaining... And I say again... Will the real Dan Cooper please stand up? "Mans got to know his limitations" Harry Callahan
