  1. So far so good, passed my level 3 (2nd time around) so shall be moving on. One thing I have noticed is just how painful my day job has become, damn it just draaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaags
  2. Haha, dont think ill even bother reading it then
  3. Hey, im trying to learn through UK winter! Feel my pain
  4. Cheers ppl, just waiting on the weather.
  5. Because I'm still on student status Im very trusting of people at my DZ, I'm very reliant on peoples integrity, after all, I'm effectively trusting my life with them. To me, if I couldnt even leave kit lying around for couple of minutes there is no trust and Id rather turn my back on the sport. Theft is theft, regardless of how 'ill' someone is. Hope the authorities sort him out and shut down his sites if they are fencing the products of his habit.
  6. Hi people, I been lurking for a while since doing my AFF1 last year and running out of money - god that sucks.... But im back noww with a vengance and have done three AFF levels this week Roll on weekend! Then I can play again
  7. Mine was and still is malfunctions. Although been briefed and drilled just concerned that wont be able to recover, or by the time I done cut away & reserve I run out of altitude. Probably an irrational fear, but you know how things seem to take so long when your in a panic!
  8. I did one AFF jump a year ago and was broke!! Im back now tho and want to carry on... However in that time over 1 weekend of me being at the DZ, (although I didnt know them really), 2 have died jumping. That kinda puts things into perspective. But I have to say, it didnt put me off. Just made me more aware of the respect you need to give the sport. Maybe a costly lesson for some, but a good one for me. In answer to your real question.... I dont know of any cos I wasnt really part of the scene
  9. I have to admit seeing some crazy action scenes in films got me interested when I was a nipper. When I was about 17/18 I went to my local DZ and used to watch the jumpers. Watching them jump was amazing. When I was 19 I saved about a months wages and did my AFF lv 1 and loved it! The only thing is after the DVD and photos I couldnt afford the next level :( But guess what... One year on I'm back. After a solid year of looking at the sky and sighing I realise I cant go without it, I've booked my AFF again (the whole course) and I hope to be qualified by end of the year! *prays to god of skies for weather*
  10. ----------------------------------------------------------- I dont want to be a know it all or a canopy Nazi, but at 195lbs body weight (which is probably what someone on AFF is discussing) comes to more like 215-220lbs exit weight. That gives a wingloading of 1.05 psf... not far off mine... and on nearly 200 jumps I still find my Spectre 'exciting' at that wingloading in nil winds! ------------------------------------------------------------ Yep - your right. 195 is my body weight not exit weight. I will have a chat with instructors as they will have seen a variety of canopies/students in their time. See what they have to say. Thanks guys!! ('exciting' is good but crutches or wheelchair? hmm. Im in no rush!)
  11. hehe, cheers! Still like to know what you would think of this.... A nice infinity container with a 210 main. (im 195pounds). I felt that this was a sensible route. Not too aggressive and if & when I felt I needed it, I could always get a smaller canopy. (despite the cost! )
  12. Hi everyone! I have started my AFF training and am hooked! I obviously dont intend to rent equipment forever so at what point do you recommend getting my first rig? I pretty much know what I want from gear reviews and speaking to others (although havent tried it personally) and know that there will be a delay for manufacture and delivery. Would it be OK to get my own gear before gaining A licence? The only problem I see is ive only used a ripcord to date.
  13. Heres my AFF level 1 jump at Headcorn UK. Hopefully first of many!
  14. haha. thanks guys. ive been looking round the house but just realised all except car & computer is worthless but there not an option. Anyone recommend any good credit cards! Yeah your right, ive suddenly realised how boring work is and keep looking at the sky. Ill let you know how I'm getting on
  15. yep! from the garden of England! (thats Kent apparantly, by the way) but only just getting into it. Have fun while the weathers good people! it wont last forever
  16. Hello people! I did my AFF level 1 on Sunday and im still buzzing! A guy made me a DVD and im watching it all the time, studying it so that the next jump will be even better! Hmmm, what can I sell?? Its not cheap y'know!
