  1. Not just in Africa, but actually the majority of people in the world live on much less than $10,000 per year.
  2. I was actually giving you the benefit of the doubt. Thanks for clarifying
  3. Obviously this statement is untrue. Here we apparently have Warren Buffet voluntarily offering to send in his money. The truth is that there is incentive for people to voluntarily pay for the things they want and/or use. Do you want milk? Do we need the government to collect taxes and supply everyone with milk? What about anything else you might want or use? Most people will understand that when you are in the market for something (whatever that may be), you are more likely to get a better quality, price, or service, when there is competition for your business (consumption). Why is it that the products/services people rate as most important (health care, education, police, etc.) are the same ones that most people seem to think must be run by the government? Government limits competition, so you don't get the best quality, service or price. Take the police for example, their purpose is to solve crimes and catch criminals. The government has a monopoly on police services. Do you think you get the best quality, price, or service, form the current policing system? Currently the police get their funding based on crime levels; the more crime, the more money the police say they need. So there exists an monetary incentive for the police to have high rates of crime (but below the level to prevent public outrage). The police do not get paid/funding based on how well of a job they do solving crimes or catching criminals; they do not worry about losing market share to competition with private organizations because of government regulation.
  4. I didn't realize that there was 9/11 first-responder double amputees that are living without health benefits. Is this really true?
  5. I think its funny that the video title calls for the police to "stop illegal activities on Americans". Okay, so when the government says its legal for them to do this, that makes it okay? Is the law is your determinant of what is right/wrong, good/bad, moral/immoral?
  6. No offense, Nick, but what makes you think you are so special? The United States Government has been going back on promises, and reneging on contracts for hundreds of years!

  8. Well you are in luck, as there are some good people there at Snake River Skydiving.
  9. Yes Quade, it is always aggressive to initiate force. In fact, the initiation of force is the definition of aggression. Government has the legal monopoly on the use of force. Taxes are not voluntary, but instead are collected through the threat and use of force.
  10. Here is the basic point from the article: "Accordingly, anyone who is not an anarchist must maintain either: (a) aggression is justified; or (b) states (in particular, minimal states) do not necessarily employ aggression." It then goes on to prove this point.
  11. Please take a few minutes to read this excellent, short article about Anarcho-Capitalism. What it means to be an Anarcho-Capitalist
  12. That is what they say, but it is total BS. Currently the unemployment rate in the US is around 10%, clearly not full employment. So the Federal Reserve is failure on that point. Prices have been going up steadily since the creation of the Federal Reserve, another "failure". Promoting moderate long-term interest rates? Like I said, the laws of supply and demand will not be broken. The Federal Reserve can only price fix interest rates for so long before they lose control to overwhelming market forces. So the Federal Reserve Bank is a major failure on what they profess their goals are, all the more reason to abolish them. Its not your fault that you don't understand the reality of the situation. You have been fed government indoctrination your whole life. Again, simply not true. Besides, how does one plan for the future if their savings don't maintain value?
  13. Not true. The purpose of money is not only a medium of exchange, but also a store of value. You are correct that our money today is not an asset. That is because it is losing value as more of it is created. It has no real value, it is paper and ink, and now digitalized. Yes, and that is the cause of the boom-and-bust of the economy. I don't think you understand why the Federal Reserve manipulates the money supply. The main function of the Federal Reserve Bank is the transfer of wealth. Supply and demand not related? whatever
  14. And if frogs had wings... Show me how its done (other than through fraud). I really want to know if I'm wrong, but I won't give in to bullying. I originally stated that there are four things that determine prices. The truth is that prices recently would have fallen much lower without all the money the Fed has been pumping into the economy. Quantitative easing (aka printing money) is one of the tactics being used to prop up housing prices. So yes, an increase in the money supply does always cause upward pressure on prices. When there is an increase in the amount of money chasing a certain number of goods and services, prices will rise to reach equilibrium. It is the reason why printing money will not lead to prosperity, except for the people that get to spend the new money first (at the expense of everyone else!) The definition of "inflation" is an increase in the money supply.
  15. So I just checked the "Jefferson" quote, and it seems you are correct that it is a false quote. Good to know, thanks. The quote however is inconsequential to the discussion at hand.
  16. Yes they can. How? Prove it! Except in this time where nobody is buying stuff. Cost is still low. When talking about supply or demand, there are other things here that can make assumptions false. What are you talking about? I hope you can back up your statements using logic.
  17. I wish capitalism existed in the financial sector of the United States, or any sector for that matter. Fundamentally capitalism does not, and can not coexist with fiat money. The Federal Reserve Bank is the antithesis of capitalism, and your freedom, wealth, and future, will be destroyed through it. "The central bank is an institution of the most deadly hostility existing against the Principles and form of our Constitution. I am an Enemy to all banks discounting bills or notes for anything but Coin. If the American People allow private banks to control the issuance of their currency, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the People of all their Property until their Children will wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered. " -Thomas Jefferson
  18. Don't let yourself be fooled by all the smoke and mirrors Quade. The laws of supply and demand can not be broken. Prices are determined not only by the supply and demand of the goods and services, but also the supply and demand of the money. When the money supply is increased, it always has upward pressure on the prices of everything. The history and future of all fiat money is hyperinflation.
  19. This is all about power and control of wealth and health. You are nothing but a number and taxpayer to Uncle Sam.
  20. Well roads should be privately owned, and the owners of private property should be able to make the rules concerning how their property is used by others. So it is not the same. How the government funds the police and military is through coercive taxation. They "protect, serve, and defend" you by forcefully taking money from you. That is the antithesis of protection and defense! OK. Who will pay for them? I already explained it to you Bill, the people that desire and/or require such services. Also investors. You are assuming that nobody would think of or want to protect themselves, family, or possessions, with a voluntarily funded defense. The people with the most to lose, would naturally have the largest incentive to fund such a defense. Organizations would see a potential demand for such protection services and charge you accordingly as you require their services. People also have the right to defend themselves.
  21. So you prefer people to be forced by the threat of violence to pay for their protection? That is the system we have today, and it is absolutely absurd! In the absence of a coercive entity, defense companies will emerge to supply the services of defense. If in your make believe scenerio where 95% of the people don't want to pay for services they don't need, that's fine! Why force them to pay for something they don't want? I don't pay for a hotel room before I need one, but the hotel still exists. People will see the potential demand for defense services and will build their companies accordingly. Investors have an incentive to invest where there is the potential for an increase in future demand. Competition will promote choice, quality, and a good price.
  22. Why force people to pay for things they want? Do you need the government to force you to pay for the things that you want? Do you want the government to force you to pay for things that you don't want? People should pay for the things they desire, or they don't get them. The only acceptable "tax" is a usage tax. You pay for things proportionately to what you use. Of course that would cause the government to be clearly seen for what it really is: a drag on the economy, an unnecessary middle man, and a violent evil.
  23. I'm not sure how you draw that conclusion. A market does exist for defense, as does the incentive to voluntarily pay for defense if you desire its service. What I am against is the forced funding of the government, including the military. Today in the USA we hear that the government is protecting us. Who or what are they protecting us from? The same people they funded, supplied, and trained in warfare, while promoting war? The US government goes around the world stirring up controversy, lying, stealing, overthrowing democratically elected governments, and installing dictatorships. Throughout history war has been a favorite tool of governments to consolidate power and transfer wealth. The US government is stealing our future! They are turning us and out posterity into slaves! Who can defend us from them?
