  1. hey come on now, it's pretty obvious - i didn't say it was a problem...i like my safire 149! I just feel that the sabre2 had more flare available at the end of a swoop...my safire tends to just stop flying whilst i've still got a lot of forward speed and wouldn't mind having a little extra lift.
  2. safire2 is in a different league to a stiletto surely?! Jumped a safire2, safire, and a sabre2 and i would have to say the sabre2 is definitely the best of the 3 - in my opinion
  3. Hey there, i was out in may and yes the bunkhouses are excellent as are the shower and toilet facilities. You even get your own large locker in your room - not bad for the price
  4. I jump a Neptune on my wrist and two Pro-Dytters in my helmet...quite like being able to check the log of the jump as soon as i land - i like knowing what the speed of a tracking dive etc.. is . I would agree that it's probably not best to wait for upcoming products as i too was going to wait for L&Bs new stuff, a rep told me it would be out by June...but it ain't so i'm glad i didn't wait
  5. My brother has jumped my 149 loaded at over 1.55 and has no problems at all at landing it without any speed inducing measures (other than his bulk hanging under it ). He's also jumped at safire 129 loaded even higher obviously, and again that landed fine.
  6. having done 100 jumps on a safire 1, but only 2 on a safire 2 - i would say they both seem very similar apart from the safire 2 opens better. Recovery arc on both canopies is pretty short, i found a sabre2 to have a considerably longer recovery arc. In saying that though, my safire swoops pretty well and always has enough flare....just not as much as a sabre2
  7. Just looking for a hand from someone who jumps at SD Chicago - I'm trying to get in contact with Frank Shisler (flynfrank). He's got a couple of classifieds on this website but the 'contact seller' (and other methods i've tried) failed If you know the guy is there any chance you could get him to email me at [email protected] or get a working email address for me to contact him. Would be much appreciated. Cheers.
  8. That is true but i would have thought the principal would be the same - I know others doing 180 or 270s that also do not use their neptunes as they have learnt without them. And as for doing a 45, on a canopy loaded a 1.4 is a fair commitment I think! I'm now doing 90s with eyes only starting at about 200-250ft (don't know where) and seem to manage judging height just fine. All personal preference, skill, judgment and experience i guess
  9. I know have low jump numbers but i have been very gradual in my 'swoop' progress. Over the last 40 jumps or so i've been doing about 45 degree carving turns (having built up from double fronts and very small turns) and was struggling to find the right height - as it happens i got a neptune for my 21st and i thought that it would help...i find it doesn't really, being hard to read and process heights whilst setting up and watching traffic. And then when i do successfully use it i find myself doubting my set up. I find that the easiest way to 'dial in' my small turns (building slowly up to almost 90s now though
  10. hmmm quite a good idea! Lara from alti-2 was nice enough to PM me saying you couldn't have only the canopy alarms going off...so that answers my original question
  11. i've never actually enabled the alarms yet as the neptune manual recommends having them off when using it as a visual altimeter. Although if they don't drain the battery that much i might try having them on for a few jumps
  12. yeah tried all that but there are limits to how low you can set them (i tried setting them to below 2000ft so they wouldn't go off). Ah well, i was hoping i was just missing something really easy but guess i'm not. Cheers for all the input. Al.
  13. no prob - i thought it would be that easy as well! Pity we were both wrong Al.
  14. but it doesn't let you only enable a swoop group. lol Kris - birdman would be great, but need 500 jumps in the UK Didn't want freefall alarms on cos they'll drain the battery quicker. Although you're right, if i want the swoop ones on that much then i can just turn both on
  15. I don't think it does - the manual tells you how to select and program the alarms but does not tell you how to only enable canopy alarms...unless i missed something when reading it
  16. Hi all, I use my neptune as a visual altimeter - but was wanting to enable the swoop alarms but not the freefall alarms. Is this possible and if so how do you do it? Cheers Alan.
  17. after jumping a Safire 149, a Safire II 139 and a Sabre2 135 i can say that the nicest opening one out of them all has to be the Sabre2...although the Safire II was pretty soft too. The Sabre2 was just nicer in my opinion
  18. If you were jumping a Safire 1 149 then it's not 149 sq ft. Due to measurement difference or something (do a search on the forums to find out more details if you want) a Safire 149 is more like 138-139 sq ft...this makes your wingloading on it over 1.8! Makes what you've been doing/jumping seem even more shocking .
  19. PhreeZone; they are different people as i live in a different country to the person who was posting. And it actually isn't a rumour just i didn't want to cause any bad feelings by saying anything. Never mind though - i know no rig is perfect but i'm happy with mine as i'm sure you are with yours
  20. I would go for a Javelin - think they're great. Also, heard some rumours (on dz.com and at my home dz) of wings having issues on hop n pops.... so javelin all the way for me
  21. spoons

    is there

2k compisites FF1 has two internal audible pockets on different sides
  22. sabre 2 opens poorly?! I've jumped a sabre2 and opened great, my brother has about 400 jumps on them and both his sabre2's have always opened great
