No, I disagree. Much wisdom can be applied to many people. Obviously, it can't be applied to everyone, but why not try to learn from others' mistakes? You are right, we can learn much from the lessons that others learn. However, if what you take from someone else's lessons is a generality like "Don't date a person with these traits or that birthmark or that you met at this type of place" the lesson loses some of it's value. I'm sure there are plenty of happy, healthy relationships that was formed in unknowing opposition to one of these "rules". Not to cop out, or anything, but it does tend to be "to each, their own" in this life. Yeah, it takes them roughly 4-5 weeks to send your card out. It was about that slow for mine, but that may have been due to all of the last minute submits trying to get in under the Oct 1 deadline, you know, before the regs changed. The problem with most of this type of 'wisdom' is that it tends to be valid only for the bearer, usually. For me, dawning realization came when I knew that no matter what I did, the person I was with at the time would never be happy. With me, with us, with who we were together and how we lived. My conclusion was that we simply weren't meant to be together. Now that I've found the love of my life, I've never been more at ease. Not only with her and our relationship together, but also with who I am deep down inside. When I was truly able to just be me and not worry what my SO would think, I knew my soul had found it's match. Compromise is a good thing...if you don't compromise who you really are to make someone else happy. Edit: Oh, and I agree about meeting people in the course of your normal existence. In light of all the absorbing I've done lately, including heavy reading in the incident section of the forums, I may just pass on this one. It's a Hornet 190, elliptical canopy, and I'm wing loading it at about 1.2. While I had no problems with it under normal conditions, and was able to stand my landings up like never before, I'm thinking that, at 33 jumps I should probably get more experience before taking any chances. Better safe than stupid. Anby thoughts on this?
