I've used the Pimsleur tapes before to brush up on my Russian; I think they're good for review or just beginning a language, but the really don't teach you much of the grammar, which I believe is essential for learning foreign languages. The best way is probably a college class if there's one near you, or private lessons if you can afford that. I've been learning Greek 5 hours a day for the past 5 months, and there's really no substitute for an in-person class with a native speaker.

I learned that a shot of tequila at 2 AM after you've been drinking mixed drinks and beer all night is not a good idea. I also learned that skydiver bartenders really take care of other skydivers! (thanks typicalfish!) Didn't get out to the dz until late afternoon on Saturday.

One of my friends found a place off of Craig's List; she's completely happy with it and her roomie. She lives in a pretty posh place, too. Just make sure you meet them a couple of times and be honest about your preferences.
