  1. Yes, you're probably right. Although I'm not sure if the impact on me of killing someone would have been better than the impact of being raped. That sounds stupid, doesn't it? But, either way, its an interesting point that Jeffrey's raised isn't it? I mean, if I'd have had a gun, I'd have been ok, if they had been decent people, I'd have been ok. I guess its like we need better people, not necessarily more guns. Can't remember who said it, but I like the saying that goes something like 'Bad people will break laws anyway. We don't need more laws we need more good people' Next Mood Swing: 6 minutes
  2. That's a very interesting statement, Jeffrey. Do you really mean it? I was raped when I was 21 by four men in a pub car park. I'm sure that if I had been carrying a gun, I could have prevented it from happening. Does that mean I deserved it? This (surprisingly, seeings its coming from me ) isn't an attempt to start a flame war, and I'm not trolling, I'm genuinely interested in what you really think Jeffrey. Oh, and sorry for taking this off topic, Mike. Next Mood Swing: 6 minutes
  3. Well, that's not the whole reason why I took offense. Infact, even if I wasn't disabled, I think I would still have been offended. Perhaps I wouldn't have made my personal feelings public, though. This is a more descriptive explanation for my disability. Next Mood Swing: 6 minutes
  4. Eh? I don't have a broken ankle. Never have, actually. Next Mood Swing: 6 minutes

  7. That crip shit is complete bollocks. Try breaking something that'll never get better. Then you'll know what being a crip is. Broken ankle. For fucks sake. Next Mood Swing: 6 minutes

  10. Totally off topic, apologies. I've seen this said lots of times on here and it confuses me. 'Could give a rat's ass'? Surely that should be couldn't? Ah, never mind http://www.wsu.edu:8080/~brians/errors/care.html Next Mood Swing: 6 minutes
  11. Yes, I've seen it many times, that's why I couldn't figure out why someone would ban it. Its Monty Python, after all.
  12. "the dean of students virtually guaranteed that everyone in the school saw "The Life of Brian" by telling us to not see it" Totally off topic, so mucho apologies. But I'm fascinated to know why the dean, Billvon, told everyone not to watch Life of Brian? Next Mood Swing: 6 minutes
  13. You did, and I accept. I have to admit to finding it no worse than other sports such as shooting animals (whether they're eaten or not). But that's just me. Or any other terms, come to that. People often use the excuse that to ban hunting would engender the loss of jobs, the killing of hounds etc. etc. Drag hunting would solve all of these problems, and it has the added bonus of not having to hang around for hours waiting for something to happen! 14. Ok. Edited to add: I think the digging you may be referring to is the terrier work: I'm not really bothered either, just wanted to be accurate. You seem to think that I am sticking up for fox hunting. I'm not, infact I actually stated, perhaps not explicitly enough, that culling foxes, by whatever means is not effective. Next Mood Swing: 6 minutes
  15. Just to clear up some inaccuracies: The fox is not 'released'. To say so implies that the fox was captured to start with, this is not true. This is not usual. They are not blood hounds, they are fox hounds. Entirely different breed. Also, to contradict some myths about fox-hunting, in a hunt the fox is killed very quickly, it is in the hounds best interests to do so as a fox will (if given the chance) defend itself, and so cause injury to the hounds. Foxes are pests because they surplus kill - if a fox is presented with an abundance of prey, it will kill what it can and then cache what it cannot eat to save for leaner times. Killing foxes creates vacant territory which another fox will soon take over. Therefore culling is usually inaffective, by whatever means. Lastly, I think that fox hunting is essentially quite boring. Being cold, wet and tired, and sat on a cold, wet, tired horse waiting for something to happen is dull. Next Mood Swing: 6 minutes
  16. No, I'm not saying it does. However, to treat the child as though they have no responsibility for their actions is also wrong. There are institutions, carers, facilities that deal with troubled children in a constructive way. But, as I've said before, it is completely wrong and destructive if the child is not required to take responsibility. We seem to live in an age where we find reasons for every behaviour. Fine. Thats a good thing. But what we seem to forget is they are reasons not excuses. Next Mood Swing: 6 minutes
  17. Well, that's bizzare, obviously. However, the issue is about responsibility. To absolve a child of responsibility for his/her actions, can only be wrong. Next Mood Swing: 6 minutes

  19. Well, here's another 2p worth - sure kids are fucked up sometimes, and when they commit a crime, whether its stealing some sweets, or a more serious offence, it can be largely due to that 'fuckedupness'. But that doesn't excuse them. Every child knows right from wrong. Jon Venables and Robert Thompson certainly did. After being caught, charged and found guilty, they were finally sentenced to eight years in a secure youth accommodation where they received a high standard of care, including psychiatric treatment. In my opinion, that was absolutely correct and necessary. However, in no way were they ever absolved of their responsibility in what happened to James Bulger, and that is the crucial issue. In the UK you are held criminally responsible at 10 years of age. (Age 8 in Scotland.) Next Mood Swing: 6 minutes
  20. Bloody hell, never have I been more grateful to be English. Next Mood Swing: 6 minutes
  21. Hang on, what about Jon Venables and Robert Thompson? You're surely not suggesting they should have been dealt with differently, that they couldn't be responsible for their actions because they couldn't understand the consequences????? Next Mood Swing: 6 minutes
