    PB & J

While we have many different opinions on the brand and style of Peanut butter and also on the "platform" it should be presented on, we have an almost unanimous verdict with regard to the jelly. Smuckers Strawberry Preserves! There are one or two dissenters but they are clearly deranged so who cares what they think?

Nope. Far from it! I have had many many exciting and delicious Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches. I look forward to many many more before I shuffle off this mortal coil.

That sounds good Gonne have to add that recipe to my list!
  6. Why the hell not??!? This is me we are talking about , after all! Fact is I have no expectation whatsoever that it will ever change. Some things just dont change. Period. I accept that. I dont have to like it or pretend that I think its cool just so I'll fit in with everyone else. I stopped worrying about fitting in 25 or more years ago. I just used this thread as an opportunity to vent about it a bit since it did open the door on the subject PS This stuff kept me away from the sport for a long time. i knew when I returned I'd have to deal with it. I decided that if I have to deal with the beer, then everyone else would have to deal with my thoughts on the matter

That goes without saying. Milk is the one and only true peanut butter solvent

While this IS a good recipe, I must say that if the bread is warm from toasting it limits the amount of peanut butter you can add because it tends to melt and run out the sides. If you allow it to cool then I'm all for the toasted rye

I just ate the best PBJ EVER! Skippy Creamy (lots of it) Smuckers Strawberry Preserves (Gobs of it) Home made whole wheat bread. Lots of Peanut butter and so much jelly that is squishes out the sides when you bite into it and your fingers are all sticky when you are through. Sometimes ya just have to get back to the basics
  15. moan moan moan. Suck it up and take the pain!
  16. That would mean that I cant be trusted, by anyone. Perhaps its good advice
  17. Actually I see the real problem with it as being the equating of socializing with drinking. Cant have one without the other. It doesnt really have to be that way but the two seem to be inexorably intertwined in our society and even more so in this sport. I DO hang around and socialize during the day. When the beer starts to flow I hit the road. For a lot of reasons which, in spite of what some of these responses seem to indicate, are completely valid. I dont have any issue with people drinking. I do occasionally wish I could enjoy a day of skydiving without someone yelling "BEER" at me. It would be like me yelling "TUMOR" to someone who is in remission from cancer. Sure, it wont kill him but he probably doesnt want to be continually reminded of his terminal illness while he is indulging in his favorite activity. This is kind of an extreme example but its not really that far off the mark.
  18. The ones that have a beer or two socially are not the ones that are constantly wrecking my favorite activity by filling it with incessant references to something that, for me, is a deadly poison.
  19. Yeah! So what you are saying is that without the beer, skydiving is no fun. Has someone told you that if you arent drinking beer you must leave immediately? Or that you cant socialize without getting drunk? Maybe you are in it for the wrong reasons?
  20. Not new actually. Been jumping since 1989. I've been well aquainted with the beer traditions for 15 years. I took a decade off after a very slow start and just came back last year. I'm an alcoholic sober 8 years. I know I dont have to participate in the beer traditions. To some of us they arent fun at all but a constant annoyance that occasionally needs venting. I have to listen to the beer and drinking stories continually, its only fair that you get to hear my opinion as well .
  21. This is a stupid tradition that the sport would be better off without. Rules that encourage or even require excessive drinking are idiotic and irresponsible. If you want to get drunk, go get drunk. Why do you need some dumb ass excuse like you or someone else did something for the first time? Go buy your own beer, folks. I dont buy it for myself and I sure as hell aint buying it for anyone else
  22. I have had openings that ate up 1000 to 1200 ft and I considered that to be excessive. None of them took anywhere near 10 seconds. Thats an awfully long time.
  23. The correct answer isnt in your poll but I think Quades answer comes closest.
