  1. that isnt "really" new...Its called St. Elmo's fire...its been around for centuries...It was reported by explorers coming across the Atlantic hundreds of years ago....small "balls" of lightning that zig and zig, up and down and then disappear. Look it up in the dictionary
  2. You people are truly the sickest bunch of ignorant creatures , but I'm sure there are many more of you than we have heard of. The Supreme? court has just sold out the American public to the queer life format. As I said before, WHY would God ever wish to bless America? America's days are numbered, and the number is NOT a highone.
  3. what a blasphemous lot of stupid drivel. You think you can mock God, you think you are so darned clever....what a misfit.
  4. That same dropzone had a fatality last summer. Perhaps the police are investigating to see if carlessness or negligence has anything to do with repeat incidents.
  5. You'd lose your bet. Fundamentalist Baptist all 71 years of my life
  6. sometimes telling God's truth does that, and if one doesnt like God's truth, TOO BAD.
  7. Yes, Jesus said Love your brother...he did not say marry him and commit sodomy, an indecent and immoral practice that God has clearly stated is against His Divine will. The US Supreme court ( and Canadian) is directing those countries towards their doom. EvenVice President Chaney said, (talking about the fanatical Muslims) that they will hit the USA again, it cannot be avoided. Rumsfeld and FBI Director Mueller said similar remarks. Consider the 9/111 attacks as a precursor to what is coming. Consider what will happen when the entire City of New York, and/or Washington is hit by nuclear weapons ( as stated by Chaney and gang). A single 20 megaton bomb carried in a backpack would have a 4-5 mile fireball. Winds at ground zero would be 400 MPH. Such an attack will come, and the United States WILL become impotent as a nation. If you think it cant happen...WATCH. It will be in yur lifetime.
  8. SICK SICK SICK. And meanwhile, everyone "prays" to God, that He bless America. Why on earth would He????? .? He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for that lifestyle. Its as wrong today as it was then.Guess what's in store for America.
  9. Johnny: that sounds good , but only if you log the time you left the aircraft and the time you landed. Good idea though. As for the 4 corners being a national park...since when did jumpers ask permission? i.e. base jumpers from towers etc. I live too far away...thats why I never pursued it. Another good jump would be over the Dead Sea, near Jordan...you could actually do a pull and clear exiting below Sea Level. Neat eh?
  10. I dont think anything like that has been done before. It would be best to have a person at the site of the four corners, so he can confirm you actually went around the pilon. It would be dificult to do after dark. But even indaylight, it woukld be a great entry for your log book. BILL
  11. I recall a mid air collision many years ago, two guys coming together. One smashed his face in on the altimeter of the other (in those days altimeters were usually aircraft instruments mounted on a small plate attached to the top of front mount reserve). At least one was killed as he just kept going (knocked out cold) and the other had serious injuries. At the speed one is travelling, it can be very dangerous. When I was instructing the Special Forces in Ecuador, South America, they were extremely dangerous. They had one guy hit anothers canopy while he was in freefall. He tore through it, but they both fotunately survived. Its a serious thing and deserves serious attention. I'm glad you werent hurt, and wish you the best of luck on future jumps. Bill Cole
  12. Here is an idea for a jump which I dont think has been done before. Someone in Arizona,Utah, Colorado or New Mexico could get it done, and it would ( I think ) be a first. Lets say you are based in Arizona, and you taker off and climb to about 10,000 ft. You jump and opening your chute right away. You fly across the State line, do a left turn and go into Colorado, and then another left turn and into Utah, and one final turn would bring you back into Arizona. Thus, you have made one jump covering flying through four different states. You might even get a second time around. This can only be done in one spot within the USA...the four state corners of the states named. Whoever does it first...gets the recognition. I had thought of doing it about 20 yrs ago, but I dont think I ever will, so why not YOU. Good luck.
  13. All this talk makes me want to go back about 25 years and get my Black and Gold PC again LOL LOL
  14. I totally agree that 1000 meters is where a student should open, until they get enough experience and warrant other considerations. In building experience, they also have to build confidence and most importantly, "understanding" of all the implications of the different types of problems that can catch them at an unsuspecting moment. Good for your club, friend. Bill Cole
  15. does anyone know what happened to the proposed helium balloon take off in Saskatchewan last year for a HALO jump to beat all jumps. Did it fizzle, or is it rescheduled, or is another Canadian pipe dream?
  16. Hin Wendy: I may be guilty of some pranks, but I would NEVER EVER do the cutaway/reserve opening on a guy like that. Take care..Bill
  17. You are totally right Scrumpot. Why bother to look at the altimeter when approaching the ground? Look at where your going to put your feet. Main use for altimeter is on approaching "breakoff". One should get use to eyeballing altitude...to recognize 3000ft 2000ft.Learn to judge from size of things...using your altimeter, then learnto eyeball without relying on the altimeter. Bill Cole
  18. The handles I was referring to was the ripcord to activate the other guys MAIN, not his reserve. This was Capewell release days, not 3 ring . , The guy might be open on his main at 8000 or 6000 feet. He just didnt get much freefall on that jump LOL
  19. I cant say I've heard of the DOVE either. DH also had a twin engine Rapide and another similar back in the 1920s. They were plywood covered, ugly as sin, but apparently quite stable. A Bristish parachute team (way back when) used one as a jump platform. In Canada, only things they built were Single Otters, twin otters, buffalo, cariboo, single Beaver, and turbo Beaver...and then to the Dash series. I once flew a hot air balloon covered with instruments as a stable platform and DH flew a Dash 8 twin directly at the balloon over and over again. You could see its lights about 20 miles off, and getting bigger all the time, until SWOOSH...it shot passed my balloon. I could have spit on its wing, and then the turbulent wake struck and I bounced all over the place. Great fun...as long as the DASH 8 didnt clobber me. rgaqrds, BILL COLE
  20. I seeits listed as Corporate Executive aircraft. I have never seen or heard of them at the DH plant in Downsview. They must have been built exclusively in England. I have been o n the assembly line here, and never even heard them mentioned. Thanks for the update. BILL
  21. Years ago, at my favorite Ohio DZ, we had a big discussion aboutgetting your reserve out while under a problem main chute. The "friendly" argument lasted quite awhile. Later that day, some guys went up to make a jump. One of them had the problem main, and threw his reserve out, right into the mess. It was awhile before the guy was missed...and they found his body with both chutes all screwed up. I always will cutaway if my canopy sneezes, farts, hiccups, or coughs. I've left the aircraft many times at 1000 feet, and if there is a main problem..I'm out of there and under my reserve in a heartbeat. Canopy transfer....not for me thank you very much. I once did open my Para Commander and then two 24 ftreserves. I also opened a brand new reserve, and it blew apart, so I cutaway and opened my Para Commander.
  22. I dont think there is such an aircraft as the DH Heron. The first was the single otter, then the Bever, then the twin potter and the Turbo Beaver, then the cariboo, and the Buffalo, from there you go to passenger aircraft of the DASH 7 and DASH 8 series, and so on. I live near DH (no Bombardier) in the Toropnto area, I've been in their plant many times at Canadian Forces Base Downsview, and never heard of a Heron Bill Cole
  23. This woman was killed in Oct 1975, on her 108th jump. I dont recall anyone ever telling a jumper they can slip a line off from over their canopy. M R R didnt have anything like a line over. Her main was completely fouled up, nothing but a mess of tangled lines, and she spent her last moments trying to untangle them. BILL
