  1. There's a reason the Stiletto is still around. It's still the gold standard for a high performance elliptical canopy, that's why. I've got nearly 6000 jumps on them alone, and they have never been anything but soft opening, predictable, and fun to fly. If your dealer tells you that they are obsolete, talk to another dealer.
  2. You are quite right, he isnt that old. He just looks it. I may be old, but at least I'm not fucking French......
  3. It's a strawman, that's why. It has no bearing at all on the larger question.
  4. This wouldn't have happened if you'd bought a Wings
  5. For conservative christian republicans, it's a good default starting point though.
  6. Hopefully he'll be better at the new job than he was at skydiving. I seem to remember that his canpy control was so inept that he broke his legs and shattered his pelvis on a landing. Mind you, considering his current job performance, I wouldn't get your hopes up.
  7. Unless the Ghosthookers are also on the bill. Judas Preist, Dio, Motorhead and Testament at the Shoreline in July. I am so there.
  8. Er No actually. It's up to believers to prove that a god exists, not for me to prove that it doesn't. Science has gone a long way to explaining why things are, but there isn't a single repeatable, provable piece of evidence to suggest that a god exists. If true faith is blind faith, then be happy with the lie, but don't confuse your absolute certainty in your superstitions with the absolute absence of facts to support them.
  9. I shall celebrate it by striking a native.
  10. This bullshit was rife after 9/11 particularly. I got tired of the people who said they called in sick to work that day in the towers and said that god had spared them. All I can say is that he must have hard a huge hard on for all the other poor fuckers that he belted into the ether like rubber javelins that day. You can make up miracles all day if you just pick your data.
  11. Essentially, you're asking atheists to disprove a negative, which is a logical fallacy. I might as well ask you to disprove the existence of unicorns. It can't be done. If you're happy with the lie, it's not my job to persuade you otherwise. After all, you seem to think that "god's wisdom" is needed to prevent disaster, just as Sir Bedevere beleived that you needed a sheep's bladder to prevent hurricanes. Both have the same effect of magical thinking. I'm sure the hundred millions slaughtered over history in the name of that "wisdom" would have preferred a little benificial atheism instead. (Extra points for MP and the Holy Grail reference I think).
  12. They don't, but I sure as hell do. That bass is the Lemmy Kilmister limited edition Rickenbacker. Only 60 in the world. Mine's number 26. I'm such a nerd for that sort of thing. If it has Motorhead or The Ramones written on it, I'll buy it. I'm stupid like that.
  13. Absolutely. However, it's one that is simple, straighforward, and not based in superstition. It relies on personal responsibilty to act in a way that maximises personal freedom as long as it doesn't harm anyone else. As an example, you're not going to see swarms of pagans and atheists swarming down in jihad on you because you want to marry someone of the same sex. (Unless there's an open bar at the wedding). I'm not going to try to enact it into law, and I'm not going to force it on anyone else.
  14. Well, we just came off the road for a while to concentrate on marketing the album. We'll be doing a few shows in the next month though. The next one is up in Woodland near Davis on May 17th. We should have another in the city soon though. Just waiting to hear back from the bookers. I'll post when we have an ititinerary. Don't think Europe is getting away with it eithewr. We have been asked to play the Rebellion festival in 2009 in the UK. Hopefully it will come off.
  15. Common fucking sense. I'm an atheist, but I don't require an imaginary friend to tell me it's wrong to kill, rape or steal. My own inner dialogue does that. That dialogue seems to have been very quiet in the Catholic church as it systematically allowed the sexual abuse of children, and subsequently threatened the victims and protected the pedophile priests. That Christian moral code seemed a bit lacking there don't you think ? Should have used my nice pagan rede, remember ? Be it harm none, do what thy wilt shall be the whole of the law If we all lived by this, we'd have no need for your corrupt religious "moral" code and associated supernatural babble.
  16. Thanks ! I'd tell you where to buy the CD, but apparently those sorts of posts get deleted. However, I don't think there's any rules against pointing you to the myspace page where there's more songs... http://www.myspace.com/ghosthookers
  17. [reply It does seem to me that many atheists operate from an idea that all Christians hold a Fundamentalist philosophy. Some do. I'm not one of them. However, there is a commonly held belief amongst many Christians that America was founded on Judeo-Christians principles (it wasn't), and that therefore it's acceptable to try to enact laws based on superstition into public policy. It's insidious and dangerous, and obviously in conflict with the establisment clause of the constitution. Even a cursory read of the founding fathers letters and documents reveal their deep distrust of religion, to the point that some of them were agnostic, if not downright atheist. You only have to read about the persecution of the Quakers and Jews in the original colonies to realise that the founding fathers knew what they were doing when they built that wall. I'd like to keep it not only intact, but build it higher. In the meantime, lets teach proper science, and leave out the voodoo bullshit, and hopefully, organized religion will go the way of all the other cults over history. Atheists and agnostics are now the fastest growing section of the US population. It's an encouraging sign.
  18. Noise by me, cheering by the always awesome skydiving crowd from the Bay Area. I look like I'm sulking. I'm not. I always look like that when it's way past my bedtime and I'm hammered. They loaded me out with the gear if memory serves me correctly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sW1vX2bdC_Y
  19. Yours may not have, but your bretheren have killed millions in the name of the same superstition. It's bullshit. It always has been, and always will be. If you want to look for a god, look within yourself. If you believe in an all seeing god, then I'd like to sell you defense for unicorns that uses a bag of magical shreiking peanuts. I live my life by the pagan (or Wiccan) rede. It goes, and I quote.... "Be it harm none, do what thy wilt shalt be the whole law" One sentence. Beats the fuck out of every other religious text ever written IMHO.
  20. Add the word "yet" and we've found a point to agree on.
  21. Sorry dude, I'll put my faith in science and reason. You can keep your imaginary friend.
  22. I didn't make this video, but I wish I had. Nice one mate. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=adf_1190731634
  23. You can have mine. I never read them, get two deliverd to the house because the wife is a member, and can't get them not to send me them. Apparently, it's "too expensive". They go straight from the door to the recycle bin with the other paper waste. It all seems rather wasteful to me. You'd think they'd be able to give magazine delivery as an option with membership, or just let you buy a subscription like any other publication.
  24. No, that's exactly what you're doing - debasing the sacrifice that PO Monsoor made. I won't thank you for your "opinion", mere state that it's better made in any one of several Bush-bashing threads that you love to post in. Nonsense. She speaks her turth and you don't like it. I won't debase his sacrifice, but I will say it was made in vain, was a complete waste, and served no purpose. It didn't keep me free, and it didn't make me safe. You can have your version of the truth if it keeps you sane in the midst of this madness, but don't kid yourself that it's the only version of it out there.
  25. Pretty much every one of my student jumps I think.
