  1. Hi Does Anyone knows what is the status of the skyventure wind tunnel near Moscow? The web site (http://www.freezonemoscow.ru/en/news.html) last update date is July 06 and according to skyventure site it will open in late 2006. Thanks Royi
  2. My mamba lens is badly scratched any idea/suggestion on how to make things better would be appreciated Thanks Royi
  3. Hi, My team (me included of course) is considering an RW 4-way camp in Colomna. Did anyone had a chance to train there? Any advice regarding the coaches? the effectiveness of the camp? Helmets

I want to use this thread as what I'm about to ask seems relevant... I just bought my Mamba a week ago after getting recommendations from two local jumpmaster at the california DZ I was visiting and trying it in the store: After jumping it once I noticed that the finish on the bottom end of the helmet is really poor, like someone cut the carbon fiber with a not so sharp knife(?) I asked the sales person about it and I was told that since I've already jumped it + he has no more large Mambas in stock (which is the size I need) I should keep this one (and so I did...) My question is did anyone else notice a bad finish in the Mamba carbon fiber ending (the back of neck area) or did I got a lemon? Any opinion on BH customer service? (Not that it's likely I will send it from Israel to the US...) BTW - Is any baking possible/necessary with a new Mamba? Regards Royi
  5. So should I be scared now, jumping my new 1800$ Micron which I bought for believing it is the safest out there An answer from RWS official would be greatly appreciated. Royi
  6. I'm in the market for buying my second rig with about 400 jumps on a PDF Merit 170 (semi elliptical french canopy) I test jumped the Spectre, Sabre2, Stiletto (yap, mostly PD canopies at my home DZ) and Hornet as well but unfortunately could not demo the Pilot or the Safire. I would like consistent, soft, on heading openings which kind of rule out the Stileto and the sabre2, and I find the Spectre and the Hornet (which is not an option, just wanted to try it as well) a bit "boring" to fly...-->My old Merit maneuvers better than these canopies (well it is more responsive and maneuvers better than the Sabre2 as well in my opinion) So an opinion regarding these two canopies would be appreciated (I read all the related threads and reviews but could find a direct comparison from someone who jumped both...) 7. WOW thread from 3 years ago come back to life
  8. Today a good friend of mine just got his new Micron (custom made) and it feels a bit bulky on the shoulders, which makes it somewhat uncomfortable. I tried it on myself, we are the same height and weight and quite similar body structure ( I'm getting bold he is not but I don't think it's relevant ) and it was almost painful on the shoulders - like all the weight is suspended on one, or actually two spots. I read all the reviews and there is nothing but praise on the Micron and all the guys in my DZ are happy with their Microns so: Do you think there might been a measuring mistake? Maybe the shoulders piece get soften over time? or is it something we will get used to? The reason I'm saying we is because I am about to order Micron myself but having second thoughts now... Thanks Royi
  9. It's still empty but already beautiful
  10. Q - if you leave TNJ and J2 alone in bed for a couple of nights would you get a new baby Odyssey eventually?
  11. Looking at the pictures seems that only the trailing edge is tapered(?) but from what I understand this chute supposed to be more radical than the Stileto - Right? Can you create a more radical design with only semi-elliptical canopy or I might be just wrong, it is fully elliptical and the pictures are misleading? Royi
  12. The older style dyter has only a single warning altitude and it can be set easily using the dial on the device. I'm using one for years and is been doing its job. (Bought mine for 50$ about 6 years ago...) Royi
  13. 1. Does the helmet has a fixed lens or can you open it when you wear it? (couldn't get it from the pictures/text in the advertising staff) 2. I've read that they manufacturer this helmet in two sizes - meaning that for small helmet you get the large one with more liner, have anyone purchase the small\medium one? do they fit you well ? 3. What is the Optional Half "Swoop" Lens they mentioned in square 1 site? 4. Any comments on the quality and durability of this helmet (I know it's quite new on the market but probably someone already jump it more than just a few jumps) Thanks Royi
  14. I started jumping my Merit with ~40 jumps at ~1.2 wing loading. It felt a bit fast at the beginning in no wind days (especially compared to 290 Drakkar = our local student rig) but soon enough I felt comfortable with it - just need to pay attention to the landings. I find it really fun to fly, and it will get you buck from long spots too. Couldn’t find it inferior to full ZP canopies in the glide path or responsiveness aspect. *** There is a different between old Merits & new ones --> PDF changed the chute trimming at one point (at 1998 or 99). I relined mine and the new set really changed the angle of attack - it is steeper now, which makes the chute faster (and more ground hungry) and the flare stronger. Royi
  15. Flown both canopies, about 250 on the Merit (170) and several on a smaller Sabre (135). The Merit is tapered and my impression is its more responsive: it turn faster with a lighter toggle pressure. The flare on the other hand was much stronger on the Sabre - I guess you could relate it to the heavier wing loading but from what I know Sabre flare better than Merit. - Merit landings take some time to get used too. Packing the Merit is easier due to the F-111 lower skin, plus I think PDF material is a bit less slippery than PD's, but the PD is more durable and probably would last longer. Both would smack you if you don't pack carefully! Hope it helps. Royi
