I'm glad this video was posted. This would make a great video to show to jumpers on safety day, even where planes don't go high... because your jumpers go to boogies... and these boogies have high altitude jumps. The only high altitude jump I've made was from 23k out of a king air. My friend took off his mask to help me with the door when the red light came on. The green light took a while to come on, and when it was time to climb out, he acted pretty dopey. He was floating, but when I yelled go, he didn't let go. I finally had to push him off. He was terrible on the RW dive, till about 12k when suddenly he got a lot better. Its proof that even with good oxygen masks, you can still get hypoxic. MB 3528, RB 1182

well said billvon. this campaign by the brady bunch is just stupid. They are not trying to ban machine guns... they are trying to ban most centerfire weapons. But what they do is use vague "facts" and half-truths to make it SEEM like they are just banning machine guns. Change thier use of "Sniper gun" to "scoped deer rifle" and suddenly you see how stupid it looks. A rifle that can tear through a cop's body armor, derail trains, and destroy airplanes can somehow not kill a deer? And lets say they make ak-47s illegal. you think a convicted felon will care that his stolen ak-47 is now illegal? i talked with the blue grotto/devils den people and for experienced divers, you can just rent gear from them and dive all day at both caverns for $100. thats a pretty good deal I think. Its not like we will need a guide for a cavern that has maps lol. someone did have a point with renting our own boat to see manatees... it might be better just to pay the extra money to have them drive us to the best spot. I will also talk with the birds people about getting a discount, thats a good idea. we have like 10 people doing manatees with them, so the discovery scuba might be cheaper. oh the blog with the manatees, the photos were all broken for me. thanks for the help everyone! I think we probably will rent the pontoon boat and some snorkels, and go to the manatees ourselves. And birdsdivecenter is the one I am looking at right now. Some KSUPC people are going down to Dublin boogie, then Florida for spring break. There are a ton of websites offering snorkeling with manatees, we figure it might be a good activity on our SCUBA diving days, since we can't go skydiving the same day, we might as well do something. Anyways, anyone here done the manatee swimming tours? Was it fun? Could you pet them or just watch them or what? Anyways is it worth our time and about $30? MB 3528, RB 1182

step 1: Get a gallon jug of crisco. step 2: Eat it. step 3: Repeat daily. I guarentee your rig will start fitting better if you follow these three simple steps. seriously, perhaps start looking at buying a rig. You can either get a small persons used one, or get a custom container for yourself. like everyone else said, having a 230 canopy with a 110 lb girl, so assume 130 geared up, is not super dangerous. having a rig that doesn't fit you well is a little dangerous. freeflying will only make a bad-fitting rig worse, as flopping around in the sky tends to make straps slip, etc. so stick to belly work until you get a better fitting container. A. Line twists, while you are a student under a large, docile main, are NOT usually a malfunction. They are a problem. You can fix them. B. As soon as you see you are getting line twists, spread risers and kick. Theres no point to waiting for them to continue twisting. And never touch your brakes if you still have line twists. C. Your 2500 hard deck is just that... a HARD deck. That means don't be thinking about twists on your reserve etc, at 2500 feet if you don't have a landable canopy, you cut away and pull reserve. D. they need to make a low powered one for jumping in cold weather. Imagine jumping in 10 deg F cold, and under canopy you get lit up by someone on the ground. suddenly its like you are jumping in florida! MB 3528, RB 1182

also does anyone down there do the discovery dives? I did a couple in mexico, and you did the same scuba dive as the licensed people (40 fsw reef) but you had a divemaster as your buddy, and you spent about an hour going over gear, techniques, etc. Some of the people on this trip have never dove, and they really wanted to do something like this. I haven't seen anything similar on the Florida SCUBA diveshops, I'm guessing they either don't do it there or the dives are all too deep for total newbies? MB 3528, RB 1182

At WFFC 04, Johnny Gates jumped with me on a magic carpet ride and presented me with my Muff Brothers card afterwords. It was a great jump, and I'll never forget him and everyone else giving me the "one finger salute" in freefall. Some of the K-State skydivers are making a spring break trip to dublin boogie, then onto florida to hit some DZs. a couple of us are licensed SCUBA divers, and the other people are interested in doing a discovery dive, but I am having trouble finding a SCUBA place near Daytona Beach area. First of all, are there many dives going on in Mid-March in Florida? Also are there any ocean dives going on? A lot of what I found was the fresh water river diving, like in underground caverns? Anyone done those and liked them? We'd be near deland / daytona beach on Monday, March 19th and Tuesday, March 20th. We might drive farther if there is a good SCUBA place within a couple hours?
