An unhealthy obsession with the weather!!!!! That's VERY British! Vicki

The white cliffs of Dover. Nothing like sailing back from a trip to France and seeing those white cliffs in the distance...

Made me laugh!!! Vicki

Roll on Saturday then. Gav will certainly get naked on request... Sometimes there isn't enough beer in that bar to make the naked guys attractive though! Vicki

Is it really necessary the FS1 b4 you freefly?
vt1977 replied to meistwer's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It seems to vary from DZ to DZ in the UK. Nethers put FF out AFTER FS, Headcorn still put FF out first. Vicki -
Awwwww... go on Gav... it's the done thing to turn up at Nethers for the first time and get naked in the bar. Everyone will join in if you do. Honest!!!!! Vicki

Is it really necessary the FS1 b4 you freefly?
vt1977 replied to meistwer's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I’m not a freeflyer, but I do think it logically makes sense that you should learn the basic skills of jumping with another person at slower speeds before you try to speed things up. To those who say that getting FS coaching is too expensive (and completely taking aside any safety arguments for learning FS skills first): It’s not free. But then nor is FF coaching. And I take it you want to actually learn FF properly rather than spending 10,000 feet unstable before you pull??? I would guess that you will end up progressing faster through FF coached jumps if you have spent the time learning basic FS skills first. Therefore your all-up cost is likely to be lower in the end. Just my thoughts! Vicki -
You are both right to a certain extent... The Ops manual says... Vicki

This time next week I will be in Barcelona!

The link you quoted is the application for the International FAI Certificate which is different from the BPA FAI Certificate. (Confusing, I know. I don't know of anyone who actually has the international certificate). The BPA FAI A certificate requires Cat 8 and CH1. That can, in theory, be achieved in 18 jumps. hth! Vicki

Sarah, From my point of view jumping with you this weekend, you were skydiving like someone with a LOT more experience than you have. Quite often people with low jump numbers but a fair amount of tunnel time can have wobbly exits, tracking or canopy skills but you did very well in all of those areas.

Happy Birthday Rosa!!!!! Have a great day.

Happy Birthday to gremlin who is 30 today!!!
-
He probably won't see this thread because he is in Iraq... but gremlin is pretty impressive when it comes to being accident prone! In 2004 he broke (I think) 5 or 6 bones in 3 separate incidents, none of them skydiving... He broke his back in 3 places in the Perris windtunnel. He broke his little finger doing an obstacle course. He went too fast over a speed bump on a push bike, the front wheel came off and he landed hard on his chest. Then there are the more recent foot/knee injuries. Oh, and not forgetting the "apple pie injury"! Yep, he is one special gremlin! Vicki

Sorry... thread drift... I'm there in 14 days! Guess I might see ya there.

You really don't need to stay on the DZ the whole time. The DZ can book you into local accommodation of your choosing. If you call them and tell them what you want, I am sure they will advise and book you into somewhere to your tastes. Short answer - call them! Vicki

Empuriabrava is an awesome DZ with breathtaking views. If you phone the dropzone (the staff all speak multiple languages including English) they will be able to sort you out with accommodation nearby. Good luck and enjoy!

:5:2 2 jumps on Friday afternoon Spent Saturday away from the DZ as I was doing a 5km run for Cancer Research (in 32 degree heat I hasten to add!) 3 jumps on Sunday afternoon, including my wingsuit rodeo (as the rider). That was a LOT of fun.

I've managed to "negotiate" having the day off work tomorrow and am debating what to do. I could sunbathe in my garden... or I could pop down to Headcorn for the day and do some jumping. The weather is going to be gorgeous... is anyone going to be there? I don't fancy turning up and finding I can't jump because there aren't enough people around to get a lift together! Vicki

You got case of beer for £9.99??? Either that was a good special offer or you are one cheap bastard!!! Vicki
