  1. Due to a last minute cancellation, it looks like we will have one or two bedrooms available, at very reasonable rates. It is a really nice three bedroom condo right on the shore, across from the beach where we do beach jumps. Land on the beach and walk across the street to the condo. Rooftop balcony/aviary included, must like dogs (crwdogs that is) If anyone is interested, PM me. Jim & April
  2. Careful Linda, some folks are real sensitive about how they photograph. Razz
  3. Hey all, Here’s a link to some ground shots that April & I took at the Z-hills camp (mostly April). If you would like any of these shots e-mailed to you just send the picture number/s and April will be happy to send them to you. http://www1.snapfish.com/share/p=84741191554811502/l=311202021/g=101800601/otsc=SYE/otsi=SALB We had a great time. A lot of fun shots are missing, since words like inappropriate, embarrassing, high- ranking- NASA- officials involved in yet another very public scandal, and stuff like that came to mind. So…. It was great to see everyone, especially Paul Bliss and Bryan Scott. Chico is a very lucky and happy man, and this time it’s not from surviving a wrap. Congrats to Liz for her gold and to Eduardo on his 2000th jump! See you all very soon. Blue Skies, Jim & April
  4. Hi all, We're going to do some CRW in Dubuque, IA this weekend. So, I'm looking at aerials to get familiar with the area and a couple of questions occur to me. 1) What is the largest CRW formation flown across the Mississippi River? 2) What is the largest CRW formation flown through three states? Oh and is anyone else interested in doing some CRW in Dubuque this weekend? Blue skies, Jim Rasmussen
  5. Hey all, Finally got around to posting some pictures from the Lake Wales Camp. Mostly just people standing around, because well... that's mostly what we did. :-) There are a few shots of actual CRW at the end, it was a nice sunset jump. If anyone wants copies please feel free to email me the picture number/s and I'll have my assistant (April) send you the hi-res versions. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8IatGrNs4cPsg Blue skies, Jim
  6. Wait a minute, what's all this nonsense. I know for a fact that human blood will stick to lines just fine. But, while they'll start out a brilliant shade of red, they will fade more of a chocolate brown color, over time. Probably, best if to reapply regularly, to keep them shiny and red. Blue skies, red blood sports, Jim Rasmussen
  7. Thank you Viviana and Jason for putting on another great event. Looking forward to Next year. http://puertorico2007.shutterfly.com/ http://puertoricofreefallfest2006.shutterfly.com/ Blue skies, Jim Rasmussen
  8. Hey all, If you want to see some of what you missed in beautiful Puerto Rico. Here's some shots April and I took, while there. April also got some very nice video of the CRW, but that'll have to wait for YouTube. http://puertorico2007.shutterfly.com/ The folder of CRW shots is at the bottom of the list of six folders, if you want to skip over all the fine women and beach exploits. Blue skies, Jim and April
  9. April and I are thinking of going. Anyone else planning on going? Blue skies, Jim & April
  10. Ahh, But those damn Europeans keep raising the bar. Here is the 85-Way compared to the new A380, and as you can see we have a ways to go. We're going to need at least a 121 way to beat them, and that's assuming they don't go ahead with the A380-900 stretch model. Of course, it's not really a fair competition, since they're still getting government subsidies. :) Blue skies, and let's hope we don't have as much trouble building ours as they had with the 380 . Jim Rasmussen
  11. Here's a few shots of April jumping the AN-2 with Norm Kent, at the WFFC last summer. Note the very nice interior with seats for all. Deluxe ride all around and they gave us extra altitude, due to a go around. A very unique experience, all around. Blue skies, Jim Rasmussen
  12. My bad, I neglected to give credit to the photographers. April shot most of the nice ground pictures and some great CRW wrap shots Sara got the nice shots of the downplanes and golf cart madness. I took all the fuzzy out focus shots of her. Norm Kent new better than to give me any of his pictures, but he took some nice ones as well. Blue skies, Jim Rasmussen
  13. Took a while, but here are some pictures from the World Freefall Convention. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8IatGrNs4cPfg Thanks to everyone who made it a fun event and thanks everyone for all the good CRW. Mark, Jeremy and Bill Grace all made their first CRW jumps. Bill Grace, Sara Kolb and Tim Brown all got their four stacks on multiple point 4-way dives. Congratulation to you all. Nels Forsman finally did some CRW jumps at Rantoul, after I don't know how many years of saying "I should try it." Nels commented that the Lightning was much sportier than his Prodigy. And, now Dave Holmvik has someone to do CRW with up in North Dakota Frank Bender dusted off his CRW rig got the reserve in date (?) and made his first CRW jump since what? 2003. Welcome back Frank! Sorry your first jump had to end in a wrap, but hey it was fitting since it was the "sunset" load. Glad you didn't lose one of your 25 year old Nikes - is it just me or is there some thing wrong, I mean really wrong with anyone, let alone a crwdog, wearing 25 year old sneakers? T joined the festivities later in the week, with all his enthusiasm and energy, when he wasn't busy making hilarious raft dive videos. Thank you Jay Kedley for make a ton of jumps and for helping out with the new folks, rigging and congratulations on becoming a CRWdog. Sorry, it had to be on my crappy rotation dock. Thank you T and Jay for helping to get the newbies on four stacks and turning out some really nice dives. Thank you T for all your enthusiasm and for locking up the wedges fast every time. The downplanes into the main landing area were priceless. Thank you Dean and Jason for video. Not as easy as it looks is it? As always Rantoul was a fun mix of new planes, fun jumps and some great crw. I always come away feeling like I've learned more from the new folks than they've learned from me. And I definitely am a better flyer for the experience. Thank you everyone! Blue skies, Jim Rasmussen
  14. Gee, I don't know about Florida this time of year, but Rantoul felt possitively Floridaesque last week. Mid to high eighties and plenty of "interesting" weather development. There's going to be a CASA Boogie at SkyKnights in East Troy Wed through this weekend (8/9-8/13). Who want's to get together and do some CRW? Blue skies, Jim Rasmussen
  15. Careful Scott, Damaging an SUV could be considered EcoTerrorism by some elements of our government. That, and the fact that you conspired with another to commit the crime AND used an airplane in the commission of the crime could get you a one way ticket to Guantanamo Bay. :-) Blue skies, Jim
  16. Having been to the WFFC a number of years now, I think I can accurately describe the CRW there, the last few years, as... sucky. Well, if not sucky... Let's just say insufficient. Mostly due to Lack of People To Do CRW With. CRW participation at the convention has been in decline for a number of years, kind of like the convention itself. But, I'm kinda partial to the WFFC and so I'm going to keep going, and keep trying to get more folks to do CRW there. They treat us really well. The layout is perfect for CRW. The other attractions are numerous. The aircraft are always available. The weather is generally excellent. So, to solve the participant problem, I've decided to bring along my own group CRWdogs. We have a group of six or seven CRWdogs coming from our DZ. Mostly newer folks. I've volunteered to organize, once again. So, we'll be doing CRW every day, starting early and finishing late. We'll have a CRW/Seven Hills Skydivers Tent set up on the main drag. We are still looking for appropriate (and tasteful) Toadsucker decorations. My favorite CRW memories from the WFFC. My first big way CRW (with Mike Lewis, who let me on a 17 way when I had like 10 crw jumps) Meeting Wendy for the first time. My first wrap (with two cutaways, and Luigi Cani to film the whole thing) Meeting Micheal Fedak for the first time. Jumping with Mark, Kenny and the 'Triathlon Row' Meeting Frank Bender for the first time (and then having like ten people walk up to me and tell me "Don't let him scare you off"). Watching Chico's death-defying wrap/reserve mal, on video in the big tent (with Chico). Meeting Bill Runyon for the first time. Attempting a birdman/CRWdog flyby/intentional cutaway (what didn't we do on that jump). Getting on Mike Mullin's early load and doing CRW from 14,000 ft, finishing up with a downplane directly over the food tent. Blue skies, Jim
  17. I suggest you spend 10 days at the World Freefall convention. July 21-30th. There will be CRW every single day. Starting first thing in the morning with jumps out of Mike Mullin's King Air and ending each day with a sunset CRW load. In between, we'll be doing CRW and jumping out of everything under the sun. We may even be able to do some CRW out Perris Valley's Jet. Then, for the remaining four days of your trip. Head up to Skydive Chicago on July 30th, for their Summerfest boogie. There will be CRW at this event, as well. Email me if you want further suggestions for midwest day trips. Blue skies, Jim
  18. Yeah, but I heard that Chico had to wait for a wireless internet connection, because he kept getting tangled up in the phone cord when he tried to hook up his PC.\ Blue skies, Jim
  19. "...what I did buy in Puerto Rico went to waste..." Hey! I resemble that remark. And... Just because I got wasted every night, that doesn't mean the beer went to waste. Not that that lame ass Coors Light or what ever you bought, qualifies as beer. Hell the last I saw of that case, the Hotel Security Guard was shaking them up and using the spray to detail the hub caps on his ride. And another thing, now that you've got a couple of CRW boogies under your belt, it's high time that Wendy introduced you to the "No Cheap Beer Addendum to the Beer Rules." Get your name on the list for her TexAss Boogie, and get yourself a proper education on the finer points of buying finer beer. Blue Skies, Amber Bocks, Jim
  20. I can think of no more inspiring example of the spirit of "Beer for Firsts" than: Charlee Schneider, who, had a case of beer on ice in his car, ready and waiting for his 'First' med flight. Thank you Charlee, for setting a great example for all the miserly newbies out there, even under extraordinarily difficult circumstances. I trust you had them mold one of your casts into the proper position to hold a long neck botte, or at least picked up one of those can holder hats from the hospital gift shop. Get better soon. Blues skies, Jim
  21. Here are some pictures April and I took in Titusville and Z-Hills. They're small (to save upload time). Let me know, if you want a copy. Florida CRW Pictures Blue skies, Jim and April
  22. Here are some pictures from Puerto Rico. Thanks everyone for a great time, and especially, thank you Jason and Viviana for putting on one amazing boogie. The pictures are low resolution, to save upload time. If anyone wants a print, Email me. [http://puertoricofreefallfest2006.shutterfly.com] Blue skies, Jim Rasmussen
  23. Here are some pictures from Puerto Rico. Thanks everyone for a great time, and especially, thank you Raul for organizing our asses and Jason and Viviana for putting on one amazing boogie. The pictures are low resolution, to save upload time. If anyone wants a print, Email me. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8IatGrNs4cObg I'll try to put out some more pictures of the local fauna and nightlife, once I've cleared them with my lawyer. Blue skies, Jim
  24. Hi, I know of four or five of us, so far, who will be doing CRW at the Convention. I've offered to do the orgnaizing, for the group. It has been kind of slow for CRW the last couple of years. Let's see if we can turn it around this year. I would for sure like to get some loads up early in the morning, out of Mullin's plane. The air is better, we get more altitude. Last year, if we got up before the rest of the planes fired up, we could do CRW over top. Later in the day we had to use the alternate landing area, but that is still fairly close by. April and I will be camping over by the swoop pond again this year, so I don't plan on hanging out in the CRW tent, unless I know we have people planning on doing CRW. As for wings, we'll be jumping PD Lightnings loaded around 1.3-1.375 Anyone else out there looking to do CRW at the Convention, pleae let me know and we can talk about days and start times. CRW skies, Jim Rasmussen
