  1. How close was he to the objects that he thought were jets? Wingsuit noise can sound quite loud when they are very close (check out some of the wingsuit videos on youtube), but from a distance I'm guessing that the noise wouldn't travel nearly as far as that from a jet - could someone with more wingsuit knowledge than me confirm? In your OP you said that your friend saw them for a moment and then they were gone - can you get more details on what he means by this? If he saw the objects and they disappeared mid air and suddenly there were parachutes around the same place where the "jets" magically disappeared, I would be inclined to agree with you. If what he meant by they were gone is they flew out of his line of sight and then there were parachutes somewhere behind where he last saw the "jets", I'd be inclined to think that you may have been correct that there were wingsuit and jets doing some kind of stunt. Sorry for all the questions, I'm just having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that someone could confuse a wingsuit and a fighter jet.
  2. Probably not a James Bond film, however it could be the remake of Point Break. It started filming this month and Italy is one of the locations where they are planning to film. They are using actual extreme athletes to perform the stunts, so it could have been a scene with some of the wingsuit flyers filming a scene. what the hell is an "Actual Extreme Athlete?" Probably just means real stunts done by real people, rather than Hollywood fakery. Like that freefall scene in Point Break where you just know they're suspended from a ceiling by wires with a fan blowing up on them to tussle their hair. ^^^ This is what I meant. The wingsuit scenes are going to be performed by pro wingsuit flyers, not done with special effects/computer generated.

  4. I can confirm that this slut is bi!! Hmm... perhaps I was too hasty in judging her
  5. That slut! She said she was in to me! Well, I'm definitely not sending her any more money now
  6. I just did my first jump course on the weekend and I find it incredibly scary that an instructor would let a student jump that they felt couldn't perform the jump successfully. I'm pretty self aware, so I would not do the jump if I felt I wasn't prepared, but there are a lot of people out there that wouldn't be aware enough to realize they aren't getting it. Even if the jump is AFF there is still a lot that could go wrong. I've seen videos of instructors losing an AFF student during free fall, that obviously would be a bad thing for this student. During the canopy flight the instructors won't be with the student to do what they can't. There are so many ways for this student to seriously harm/kill themselves that it would be irresponsible to let them jump. On top of the moral obligation to prevent a student from becoming injured, the potential liability for the DZO/instructor should be enough to stop the instructor from letting them jump. Waivers, despite what they may contain, generally don't cover gross negligence. I think letting a student jump that obviously can't perform the skydive successfully would rise to the level of gross negligence.
  7. I did my first jump course today, and the jump was amazing! I've never experienced an adrenaline rush like that in my life and I can't wait to do it again! If an IAD from 3500 is that big of a rush I can't wait to try free falling from 10,000. My instructor told me that I arched very well and was the best in the group as far as arching went. As I continue to skydive hopefully that will help with my progression. The only downside was I somehow pulled a muscle in my right arm while exiting the plane. I'm not sure how it happened as I didn't realize that it happened until I went to do the control check and realized I couldn't fully extend the right toggle. As a result my right turns were pretty gradual and slow and I couldn't fully flare for landing. The PLF they taught me in the course came in handy, so it might have been an ugly landing but I walked away from it without injuring myself so I'm calling it a success. In hindsight I should have checked to see if I could have used the rear riser to control the canopy, my arm was OK above my head but I couldn't fully extend it downwards with any force. It might not have worked but it would have been worth a shot.

    Guy in a dress

Given that there isn't a DUI charge mentioned I am going to assume that there is a high probability that the guy has some mental health issues. Hopefully he can get the help he needs.
  9. For tandems, same answer as before - check with your doctor. Hard landings can happen on a tandem jump as well.
  10. I would discuss this with your doctor prior to considering a jump. I don't know exactly how high of a risk you would be taking by skydiving, but the injuries you described sound scary. Your doctor would be the best person to assess your injuries and determine whether skydiving would be a safe activity for you. If an impact to your back could cause significant injury or paralysis, skydiving is probably not for you.
  11. All the details are here http://store.verticalvisions.com/product/TBJ.html Seems like every landing is going to be a water landing. They have been doing this for 3 years at bridge day.
  12. I'm ryoder, and I approve of this posting. Damn fucking straight! Me too! I'll be here all week folks, don't forget to tip your server. How exactly do you do that? 15% or 20% Hmmm... perhaps an uninterruptable power supply or an OS upgrade?
  13. Although there is no expiration date printed on the license, given the fact that it states that the license is only valid with a USPA membership I would say the license expires when your USPA membership does. You are right about us going in circles. I've made the points I want to make, unless someone adds something new to the discussion I'm going to leave this thread alone.
