  1. He said those were the only two. I figured I'd get better info here. So was the suction cups how they REALLT accessed the top, or just the story he gave? "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  2. I was in St. Louis a couple of weeks ago. Went up in the Arch. Of course I had to ask... The ranger said: 1) The Arch had never been legally jumped. 2)The 1st attempt was in 1980- guy skydived onto the Arch with the intent of BASE jumping off. Got caught in the wind and slide down the long side of it and died... with his wife watching. 3)The 2nd attempt was in 1990 and was successful. Method of arrival at the top still undetermined. Jumper said he climbed up with suction cup apparatus. The believe he had a chopper deliver him via a rapel line. Anyone know if any of this is true or any of the "unofficial details"? Blue 111- Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  3. Thanks Bro. "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  4. Going to be in the area the end of the month and will be free to jump either Friday Nov. 30 or Sat. Dec. 1. Anyoneone know the closest / best DZ there... preferably turbine but doesn't have to be? Many thanks in advance. Blue 111- Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  5. I have been told it was a work related accident... that he fell of of a ladder. He just had to get in a tiny bit of free-fall before he went. I'll miss his big, goofy smile. Eternal blue 111 to you brother. If anyone has pics, please post them. Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  6. Thanks guys. Anyone got video they can post? I was sure (with all the free flying talent out there) that there had been somebody doing this... it was just that our little group hadn't heard of it. Still, it was a kick-ass jump for us and totally stoked everyone on the load! Blue 111- Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  7. We put together a 6-way hybrid (4 belly & 2 hangers) this past Saturday and after some discussion, no one had heard of anyone doing this... although surely somebody must have at least tried it: We had a 4-way base: 2 in a star with side bodies. I hanger on each "half" of the base. We then broke the pieces and turned them 360 degrees with the hangers still hanging and were driving the pieces together at break-off. So... who's heard of / seen / done / or tried this? Blue 111- Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  8. I don't recall ever seeing this guys work prominently featured in either magazine before. Any takers on how long it will be before either one uses him again? "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  9. Looking at the picture JohnRich posted, I don't remember Monroe's C-182 having that eyeball painted cone... and I have jumped from their C-182s in the past. I guess someone could have painted it afterwards. Yep... that came from Monroe. They had 2 182s... Cyclops and the mean green machine. Sold Cyclops a few years ago. 10. I haven't jumped there but I am headed to the same area (and am jumping) the 1st week in September. My research and feedback I have gotten says Skydive Twin Cities is the place. It lists it as 47 miles from the Twin Cities area. Let me know what you find out and how your experience is. Blue 111- Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  11. I have finally tired of dragging all of my editing equipment back & forth to the DZ, as well as setting it up and tearing it down every weekend. I am planning on buying or building a storage/editing cabinet to leave everything in... set up and ready to go. I have thought of buying a metal cabinet (easy way out) and I have thought of building a custom plywood job (not the easy way out). I was wondering if any of you had other ideas (pics maybe?). I have a mixer, title maker, DVD recorder, CD player, and monitor to store/mount. Many thanks in advance. 12. I'll be damned if I can find any pictures of Jason in my extensive crap. Those that have them, please share with everyone. They always seem to help. Eternal blue 111 to you bro. Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  13. In case there are those who haven't seen this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kM72KYuNRLc Pretty neat gig! "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  14. Been to both of them but CSS was a memorable visit: Didn't get a plane off the groung until 12:30 due to weather. At 5:30 I am packed, have settled up with manifest, and I am walking out the door; and oh yeah, I made 6 jumps! Enjoy. "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  15. No, not a smart-ass.... a JEALOUS ass, maybe! (Seems like the only way for me to get in is to buy my way in with the purchase of a life-time membership.) You camera ho! Love ya- Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  16. BTW Katie... how about updating your jump numbers in your profile to reflect this already suspicious #666 jump! Another observation- if you have 666 jumps, then by my calculations, all of your jumps except maybe 3 of them have been in Parachutist Magazine (or did I miss one somewhere?)! Love & Grins- Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  17. Are you still a PT non-qualifier? Slacker!!! "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  18. Georgia is the biggest state East of the Mississippi, so depends on where in Georgia you are. There is Flyaway (yawn) in Gatlinburg, and there is an outdoors one in NC with another being built near Raeford. Seems like there is another one (other than Ft Bragg) that I can't think of right now. Blue 111- Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  19. Didn't know that as I don't have a Neptune or a Pro-Track. I have 4 Dytters and a log book. Grins- Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  20. OK...not to be picky but... can you program previous jump numbers into the Neptune? If not then she would have had that Neptune on starting with her 1st tandem or AFF. Sheesh... I can't believe none of the other eagle-eyes didn't catch that. Grins- Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  21. I already have one on my camera helmet. We are calling them "collecter's editions" because he was born in 1956, not 1957. Bob would probably get a chuckle out of that. "... dumb-assed skydivers!" Blues to all. Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  22. I flew camera for an AFF level 1 that Danny & Mandy were JMs on 2 weeks ago. The student totally hosed us all on the exit and we all ended up in the same place at the same time. I got off of them with no damage... Danny and Mandy get the student back on her belly. Danny reaches across the student's back, high-5's Mandy, turns and points at me giving me props for doing my part to make it work, then starts the skydive. All of this while still on the hill! When we completed the TLO's and I move in for face time, the stills show Danny grinning bigger than the student! We watched this video the night of the incident and that is how I will always remember Danny. Blue 111- Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  23. They are planning for a 64-way, correct? "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  24. What to you mean by changing the script? Thanks- Jeff "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
  25. I think you find the song and then hit "On-The-Go" from the main menu, correct? But if I do that, I would have to go in and edit them out later from i-Tunes wouldn't I? And every song I add ends up in the same play-lists doesn't it? Thanks in advance for the feedback. "When I die, I want to go like my grandmother, who died peacefully in her sleep. Not screaming like all the passengers in her car."
