  1. Yea all the DZ's in the area Rock. I have spent a lot of time in Titusville and Z-Hills.. I think that they have the most local up jumpers on a constant basis. Plus at Z-Hills there are no rulez, it is the Wild Wild West out there and it is great. I dont think that you can go wrong with any decision you make out of all the DZ's in the central area. Just look up events at each DZ and go where everyone else is going. Plus it is a warm winter so it means rain in Florida so weather might be a deciding factor.. Just be flexible on not set on a specific DZ at a certain time especially if you are by your self....
  2. I am not really sure that any DZ's in Florida have a traditional bunkhouse except maybe for Lake Whales but I dont know if the hurricane killed them or not. If they were able to host Nationals I am sure that they have some so give them a call... Plus it is really close to Orlando.. Umm.. Also if you call Z-hills they may can rent you something. I have heard of subleasing going on there by people who arent there all season but have a place. Manifest will have more info if you call and ask..
  3. If you ask they will adjust any main container trays to fit what ever progression that you are expecting.. basically they will put together anything you want. their sizing guide is just that a GUIDE. If you want a 310 with a smaller main tray so the 150 is the largest you can put inthere they will. Just ask.....they can and will do anything
  4. I have a couple of american friends that went through AFF in Lillo SPain while living in Madrid. they rave about it very much and I hear they just built a swwop pond so you will probably get some real good skill in all disciplines..
  5. Hey whats up. I own a Micron 308. I can tell you that a 150 will not fit in it.. I had a 129 when I fist go the canopy and it was tight, I mean tight... Also going to the 308 means downsizing reserves.. Are you confortable with that.. That honestly is the question that you have to answer. RWS will cater to your needs as long as you know what they are. Figure it out and they will make the rig that youwant no matter what the sizing chart describes on their website, they can manipulate a rig here and there to fit what you need/want....
  6. I actually use BDUs during the summer for FF. Because it gets so hot where I jump and my jump suit is black!!! I wear a regular length in the BDUs but I wear the long for skydiving(freeflying). Drag is only perception.. Dont be fooled.. Fly your body they offer enough drag for my 225lbs out of the door ass. No matter how big we are gong on our head, feet or belly. Oh, you dont need to tie them anyways. The openings usually arent wide enough to go over the calf so you usually dont have them riding up when on your feet....
  7. If you contact Mel star. A dz.commer she had nancy make her a fabulous freestyle type of jumpsuit.. I own one aswell(not freestyle).. They are smooth and comfortable. Plus no one will have one that looks like yours because she will not make the same suit twice.. You say that she is expensive... She really is not. The custom designs that she does, if you went to any other manuf it would cost 150$ more than what she charges......
  8. Even After everything I wrote I think that I agree with Diablopilot..... Uncontrolable!! that's why we all skydive.. If we had control it would not scare us anymore and we would quit...
  9. WHile packing and make of canopy contribute to large problems, understanding how canopies open can be keys to making them cooperate with you.. For Example: SOme of the newer canopies are made to open correctly without any touching of the canopy/just flake wrap and put it in the bag. If you roll the nose or tail or both the slider will come down quicker amd create a very hard opening or one side inflating quicker causing line twists. all this adds up to NOT allowing the slider to do the job that it was made for!!! THis was just one example.... Some of these newer canopies are also made to open at higher speed Understanding the make of the specific canopy you are jumping and what type of speeds/ non terminal deployments etc.. you are using it to play the biggest role of them all.. Please just dont jump anything!! Know what you are jumping and what you are packing!! iF you understand what canopy you are flying you might find that it is not the right canopy for you... Right now there are generations of canopies still on the market.. Dont get cought up with price color and coolness of what ever it is you should not be jumping.. Just know what it is before you pack it... For example: I mostly freefly so at times i am dumping my canopy in a track or at a higher rate of decent speed.. That plays heavily into the decision of what canopy I jump... I am not going to dump a 300-400 ft opening canopy at 140mph.. I could kill my self/someone else/ or blow my gear up..
  10. Have you ever heard of training the riser covers. I have owned two V-III and I had the same problem(and was highly frustrated with the rig and almost sold it) until a sponsored guy from RWS showed me how to train the rig. atfer about two weeks of keeping it trained I have never had a problem with them again.. Training is closing the covers when storing it and folding them down so they are compressed while in storage or even just waiting for the next load. After doing this and making it a habit for a little while you will never have this problem again I promise.. I am not a sponsored jumper but I have owned a couple of them and I actually just bought another one.. I would not have bought another one if what you are experiencing is not easily adjusted.. One thing that alot of people dont understand about these rigs is that they dont really break in until about your 500th jump on them.... at least in my experience.. they are made to last a long time.... I mean i just made my 1000th jump on my current Micron and i can throw it anywhere and nothing comes open no matter what... But it did take training the covers.. The repack of the reserve does effect the secondary riser covers and forces the main covers to open under stress if the repack was crap. You have a legitamate complaint with you rigger and if he wants your buisness again he will fix it without any problem..
  11. Representing University of Southern Mississippi.... Man who has time to pay attention to all the whoffo's at university... I live and breath freeflying and swooping.. I have almost two thousand jumps and student loans that have paid for them all!! My university has a football team? When did that happen.. What are fraternities? I have never been to a college party.... But I make 600 jumps a year.....
  12. Yo yo yo Brooke and Chris will be there on Friday morning to jump...... Cheers
  13. I can already count a dozen extremely talented enough freefliers that I am sure would love to do it and no one would have to be on their feet... Just like the old days of racing!!!!!!! I think that I am bringing alot of smoke too...
  14. I bought one that was made of their heavier material. (cotton) The fit was off but for the great price of the suit I spent 15$ at the alterations shop and bamm fits great. and since then I have put 600 jumps on the suit and a seam never has broken and the only color fading was from where I would kneel or wipe sweaty hands.. I have to give two thumbs up.........
  15. Guys i am there!!!!!! I am not going to get there until late tuesday afternoon which sucks but oh well... See if I am brave enough to stick a foot in the pond instead of just looking at my reflecting as I cruise over the top..... Ian...Whats up my bru!!!!!!!! I will see you next week!!!!!! Cheers.....
  16. So are eveyone going to be doing hop n pops pretty much the whole time? Thats kind of what I want to do.. I finish my last exam on Tuesday, I want to come..Just got a new Velo 96 I want to hit the ponds with...
  17. Well from the website the DZ seemed to cater to organized teams, coaching and training purposes, kind of like DeLand. Does anyone have a different perception of the DZ??? I dont have any thing to go on except the website... Somewhere fun jumpers might not find a lot of people to jump with unless there was a specific organized event because everyone is working or training with their team. That was just my impression from the site... I just want to go and rip up some killer dives with people, but part of the battle is being in the right environment....
  18. I am going to be in France for most of the summer and was wanting some opinions where to get the most fun jumping in.. I have a lot of time on my hands to jump while I am there and it is one of the main goals of the trip.. Which DZ's have the most fun jumpers freeflying? ANy imput or suggestions for DZ's and travel would be appreciated, and very needed!!!!.. I am going to be 2 hours south of Paris near Lapalisse(spelling?) well sort of, anyways central part of France. Cheers......
  19. OURAGAN SUITS ROCK!!!!!!!!!!! No body better out there....... Check her website out... I have seen some revolutionary swoop pants from her.. She can and will do anything you want!! Cheers..
  20. Hey SKymonkeyONE.. So you are saying that even though as lightly loaded that the canopy is not subjected more to collapsing in turbulent conditions than anyother square types of canopies or elipticals???? I know that there is an argument that states that lightly loaded canopies feel more turbulence anyways so ......... Sooo... SHould someone load a eliptical at 1.1:1 or should they load a square at 1.4:1.. The issue that I am trying to help my friend with is that she is getting a great deal with the eliptical canopy... WHich in my first post I said (Nitron) but I found that it is a NITRO instead...( I know that is doesnt make alot of difference really) but I seem to be getting conflicting theories from different people.....
  21. Guys I searched through the post already and could not get an answer because people kept getting off topic.. But I have a friend that is wanting to buy a Nitron (150)at 1.1:1 and I seem to believe that it could be a little iffy because of underloading a small inlet nose canopy.. (her skill is not the issue, I am asking advice about wing loading).. Can underloading an eliptical be an unstable canopy in more situations than not.. I would like to see her load a Sabre at more of 1.4:1 than the REALLY GREAT deal she is getting on this canopy but I dont have a realy strong argument either for or against her under this canopy except windloading and my arguement for wingloading period is a little weak.. Any good info out there?
  22. Guys I am looking for a 16mm or smaller lens that fits canon cameras(Rebel Digital and SLR).. Does snyone know where to find one? used or new.. Are they all going to cost $700? I cannot seem to find one for much less.. Am I out of luck with finding one cheaper than that? I am going to go digital at the end of the month and want to retain the width of my 19mm(standard SLR) by substituting it with something wider to compensate for the digital strength on the new camera..
  23. to be honest my transition canopy was a Jedei 105...I used up to crossbraced and I tell you other than the actual difference on the amount of lenth on the swoop my Jedei was a more radical canopy than my Velocity.. Every thing about my Jedei is exactly or more than my Velocity, harness control-dive-speed.. When I went to my Velo I did not change really anything on my approaches because of the such likness of the canopies....I mean other than the crossbraces... (dont get me wrong there are differences that I find more advantageous with my Velo but that Jedei was a bad ass canopy and i only paid $400 for it) Plus you can find Jedeis so cheap thesse days they really make good transitional canopies for us broke guys.....
  24. Thanks Brian... I know the exact manuver that you are calling a "Hockey Stop". I have used the manuver in very tight landings (obstacles and traffic situations) and used very accurately... The manuver answers my question about speed and possibilities of collapse in turbulent and tight areas and it makes much more sense than the way I was approaching tight landings for crassbraced.. Good job buddy!!!
  25. How slow do you think that we can fly a crossbraced canopy? and how slow depends on the turbulence in the airspace over where you want to land? I know that most all of us have heard of someone flying their crossbraced too slow-too low- in turbulent areas (either behind a building like landing on a street) and the canopy collapsing becasue of lack of air pressure in the canopy from not enough foward movement (stalling). As the previous question might should have went....How do you sink a crossbraced canopy down with out the needed forward speed in turbulent areas? I know that I can bring my Velocity in on an open area slow as hell.. But what do you do in a situation where the wind is caos and rutters from trees and building are in effect????..(other than not jumping a bad spot).
