  1. How did you accomplish that? When I try it, I start typing "Classic", and as soon as I type the "C" it automatically fills in the box for me with the "Cayenne" table entry. And then it ignores everything else I type. I can't get it to accept a manual entry. It picks what it wants out of the database, and to heck with what I want.
  2. Are you saying that they should live in the regular dorms, with a gun, against the rules?
  3. I hate fixed tables like that. And it's a maintenance nightmare for the webmaster to keep it up to date. They need to allow users to just type in their own names if they want, so that if it's missing from the table, you can still enter it manually.
  4. Aren't you curious to know WHY it landed in a field? Um, not exactly. He said it wasn't a skydiving flight, which I take to mean that there were no jumpers aboard. Thank goodness for that. However, that doesn't mean that it has no ramifications for the jump operations. It might be a plane that is used to carry jumpers at other times. And depending upon the cause of the forced landing, it may have a bearing upon aircraft maintenance or pilot judgement. For example, if a pilot runs out of fuel in-flight due to forgetting to fill-up, wouldn't that make you less comfortable with riding that pilot's plane to altitude again in the future? So, the jumpers who ride in that plane deserve to know what happened.
  5. University sets up special 'gun dorms' where students are allowed to keep weapons... but NO ONE applies to live there Quote: "Students at Colorado University have been told that if they want to hold weapons on campus they must live together in segregated 'gun dormitories'. But the move to create the exclusive accommodation blocks at the university's Boulder and Colorado Springs campuses has failed to attract any takers in the three months since it came into effect..." http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2238535/University-sets-special-gun-dorms-students-allowed-weapons--NO-ONE-applies-live-there.html?ito=feeds-newsxml There's still hope!
  6. And the danger is that it will become more about who has the money, then who has the skills. There are certainly more people with the skills then the money. But I hope it doesn't get to where a lot of people without big-way skills are slotted just to get the money...
  7. But it WAS a Skydive City aircraft. http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/NNum_Results.aspx?NNumbertxt=5795B So, TK, tell us what happened.
  8. They didn't have to go and destroy the Aston Martin though. Sheesh!
  9. So, while claiming that profile info makes you credible, at the same time you admit that it doesn't necessarily represent the truth. Not even in your own personal instance. Thank you for reinforcing my point. So if I put: United Kingdom Jumps: 118 License: B In sport: 2 years Just like you, which doesn't represent reality, would that make me more credible in your eyes?
  10. Ha! I was wondering if I was the only one that was being too particular to notice that, where the edge tape overlaps on the ends. Yeah, rotating it 90 degrees would hide that seam under a flap.
  11. Dave: ZP canopies don't work for classic accuracy - you can't sink 'em straight down. Try as you might, they just won't seep air! John DU: A 265 with a weight of 185 is a wing-loading of .7. That might be great for accuracy, but it's going to severely limit the wind speeds in which you can jump. You'll be sitting on the ground a lot of days, when everyone else continues to jump, or else getting blown backwards away from the airport. Here's an idea that can give you the best of both worlds, without having to spend all that money on a complete 2nd rig. You can get two canopies to fit the same rig. Size the rig for the 265 accuracy canopy, and then get a second ZP canopy, say around a 210-220, for higher wind days and fun jumping. The sizes are close enough that the smaller one will still pack in the container without being too loose (you might need a shorter closing loop for that one), and you can swap them back and forth to get more flexibility in jumping in different conditions.
  12. Back view: I see an angry bird!
  13. Suit yourself. But I would suggest that you should look at the totality of my messages, and not just the ones in this particular contentious forum. And just because someone disagrees with your position on things, doesn't make them a troll. This place would be pretty boring if we all thought the same and just parroted each other's thoughts.
  14. So your gun crime is rising, and your response is to make it easier for everyone to get guns? Maybe to reduce traffic accidents, we should put more cars on the road!
  15. That's funny, coming from another guy who also has an anonymous profile. Not at all, my name and some skydiving details are on my profile. There are several people on this site who I know in person and have jumped with. I've also been around on here for a decade and plenty of people know my background. You on the other hand have pitched up in the last five minutes have nothing about your skydiving background on your profile and no name any wonder so many people have you down as a troll? You provide a first name only, no home DZ, and no city. You say you've been here 10 years but your profile says you've only been jumping 2 years. Hmmm. And your photo is a monkey. And this is what you claim gives you credibility? Oookayyy... Anyone can put anything in their profile. It isn't verifiable. It means nothing. Credibility doesn't come from fancy claims in a profile. And yours provides nothing indicating any expertise with gun crime, the subject of this topic. And with onliy 118 jumps, you don't even have a lot of credibility to talk about skydiving. So, what counts is facts and logic, not a profile. Judge by what is said, not by what is in a profile.
  16. Probably would have risen even more if the guns hadn't been taken away. Judging by the number of hooligans that remain in your society, as represented by those crime statistics, it's a good thing that they don't have access to all that weaponry.
  17. In the user profile, a pop-up table appears from which to choose your main canopy. However, the Eiff Classic canopy is not included in that list. This is the dominant accuracy parachute in national competition, and should be included there. http://eiff.com/

  19. Was that directed at me? If so, I don't know who "JR" is. I've also been accused of being someone named "DD". And then there was a third one that I can't remember. Gosh, I don't know why all these people think I'm someone else. I'm just a new guy here. LH who was MN was also JR This is developing into a real obsession. Truth be told - I'm D.B. Cooper!

  21. Yep. And now the moderators will have to deal with other dupicate "Larry Hagman dead" threads, because no one will understand what this one means. I don't know why people can't just speak plain English...
  22. The good reasons are in the article - did you read it? Once central registry instead of over 500 independent registries. Tracing done with one query, instead of taking three or four months. This is a good crime-fighting tool, and the police are in favor of it. They deserve to have the tools needed to do their job. If you're not a criminal, you've got nothing to worry about.
  23. You must be incorrect, otherwise the government wouldn't be looking at creating life sentences for gun crimes. That's a serious response to a serious problem. But I'm glad to hear that the criminals aren't hiding their guns in their hats.
