  1. Cool! Thanks. I'll check it out. Gotta go back to work. I'll check back in with the debate.. ...LATER
  2. OMG! Broken in cast- slammed at landing resulting in amputation? But that's a rare thing, right?
  3. Steve1 Wow you wild man...Riding bronc & chainsawing with an arm in a cast?!! Pushing the edge, huh? Bet you do in skydiving, too, huh
  4. Alright. You have some specific on-line sources in-mind? Care to share with the rest of us Phil?
  5. Heh-Heh-Heh! WE gotta a running joke HERE about to make anybody smile...Hey, How dem LIONS? Don't watch FB myself, But even I know the answer to "So, did they win their game?" "Noooo!" Of course not!
  6. Regardless of my online name, I can hold my own in a debate. You asked for it. Okay? But you Do know that we- the general public rarely "sees" the whole picture, right? BUT FIRST: Have YOU ever been involved within the military or within the government? I need an answer here before I say a whole lot more, to get a good perspective of where and how you look at government SPIN.

Hey, Phil! Welcome dude! I know the feeling well, too. MY First jump- a tandem- was just July 20! What the others are saying is right...Don't get frusterated trying to exlain to coworkers, etc. about the feeling-the attraction-and later obsession- to skydiving. You really can't explain it. You just have to experience it to understand it. I'm in an Accelerated Freefall program right now. Hoping to grad. before onset of winter- which in Michigan can be anytime! I don't have any really impressive job. Currently I'm a substitute transit driver with the county...Putting in soon to also be a Substitute Elementary School Teacher with the school district...and I (unfortunately) also seem to be a PROFESSIONAL STUDENT working towards my teaching degree! No matter whatcha do the rest of the time...Skydiving helps ya keep your sanity!
  8. Yeah, if you think about$the$$total$$$money invested it really can blow ya away! Made the mistake of talking about some of the prices to guy on a casual first date. He was quickly doing the math aloud, "...Man, that's averages out to be about the cost of an hour's worth of flight training, too.." That made both of nervous...Haven't seen him since! *SIGH* Too bad too. He had a lot of potential. Just jump and SMILE
  9. NOT ENOUGH! 4 tandems and 3 jumps in the AFP student program. I am FEELING GRUMPY & short tempered today BECAUSE I couldn't jump this weekend! It was supposed to RAIN THIS WEEKEND- THAT would've been a relief to me... in a way...Since I COULDN'T JUMP...But it is really beautiful now. But I'll get 2 jumps NEXT SAT. Steps #4 & #5...3 more to GRADUATE student status! I'm jealous of everybody who's jumping this weekend. Have fun & be safe.
  10. Yeah, being boosumy can be a blessing or a curse for us chickies. Mine are actually getting smaller since I've been working out...but they still make some moves a challenge. Some times ya gotta "rearrange" 'em some! HA! Right, Moody?
  11. Well, I don't know what time zone your in dude (where ARE you at?), but here in Michigan- USA's Eastern time zone it is currently:11:33AM
  12. What do ya mean by "49er's"??? And there IS lots of us intelligent and adventurous women out here! Ain't that right, Ladies!?
  13. HEY, GERB, Sorry about the "rat" reference.
  14. I've been trying to get some of the people I know to try skydiving. One of my friends is a pilot who was an instructor in AZ. He loves the sky. The problem is that 6 weeks ago he broke both bones in his forearm when a horse rolled over on him. He never had his arm casted but there is a steel plate in while it heals. He's been mountain biking for exercise lately. Can he safely do a tandem?
  15. TheBile For having such philosophic and deep thoughts, and seeming like such a nice guy, you sure have a really nasty sounding on-line name... BILE? Like what gives with that and the rat? Hmmm - Lila.
  16. "Mystery and intrigue and the basis of a great relationship" HA! I can see that you have never been blind-sided and hurt BAD by one of those 'mystery' types. Yeah, it IS very sexy, and DOES have it's appeal! It's the stuff that makes up for wonderful infatuations. I tend to be attracted to the "thoughtful" (&funny) types, too. The thing is, what you don't know (and maybe later find out everybody else does/did know) can hurt you & really screw up your head. THINK about it.
  17. Hey, HH: Have you got a hold of anybody at Hastings yet? Sometimes they'll have post jump PM parties, etc. I got the phone number & Amy in manifest is "in the know" about just about everything. There is a website address too if you'd like it: OK? Are you gonna jump all weekend for the next 2 weekends there? I'll be there some?time or other during this time too. Blue Skies & Warm Breezes - Lila
  18. YEP, I'm outa Hastings. Mourning, everyone. THE KING IS DEAD!!!
  19. WHOA! Even with only being on student status I've had to deal with this one already! After a long hiatus from the dating scene, I'm getting back into it...and things can be REALLY WEIRD...One guy wants me to plan to get together with him but when I tell him, "I gotta be at the DZ. The SILENCE over the phone can be felt...DISPROVAL! Sorry guy(I think), we ain't gonna work out...but I'll be "your friend." WEIRDER STILL is the DZ guys' girlfriends (whuffos?nonjumpers?)...When they were hanging out with their skydiving boyfriends, and saw me the first time, a new woman, hanging out there & getting trained&rigging up to jump... They were like "all over" there boyfreinds like 'marking them' as their's or keeping their attentions or something. STORY: After my first AFP jump, my JM, the radio guy and I were sitting on the floor of the DZ discussing my descent and landing and the radio guy's girl(?) comes over to him while he's talking to me, leans between him and me and licks his ear...tells him she's gonna go get something warm on..he looks at me,embarrassed then at her says ok, she looks at me then walks away. WILD! No one said anything& back to discussion! ANYWAYS: At this point in time, friends that share passionate interests and geniunely appreciate each other AND just really enjoy being together make for the best basis for a relationship that's gonna stand the test of time and be potentially GREAT
  20. I HEAR YA! Michigan's SKI SEASON is almost apon us here, too...Although it's been a while since I skied(dang spelling?!!)... just found out last year my home town has a ski club, and to increase my interest back into skiing even more, my current JM is a ski patroller during snow season...Talking of skiiing brings it all back! YOW!
  21. Sassy, How far along are YOU in you student training? My JM told me that you can even work things out (later) to pack for jumps. About divorce, think of it this way. I'm divorced too. No one to give you grief about it spending YOUR OWN$$$ for jumping. You are in charge to make your own decisions. THAT IS GOOD. Finding yourself FREE every other weekend WITHOUT THE KID(S) ends up being kinda nice too! Have fun this is a NEW beginning. My first jump helped me to look at life differently. Be cool...Blue skies to you
  22. "WHUFFOS"...? OK, so I AM niave and green...AND most of the terminology is like "Greek" to me...At least right now. SO...ya wanna give a little info here? I got the general idea, but wanna tell us new to the sport a little "story" here so we can get on it, too? Puleeze
  23. Hi I can relate to you. Even though I'm not a young kid anymore, I AM on student status. I've gotten in 4 tandems and 3 steps in my student (AFP) training since July 20th. It IS really expensive to start. But I personally have been trying to live really cheap to do it...Like buyingmy Levi's at Good WIll-they feel great- and not eating out(much) or going crazy with the shopping helps incredibly to save MUCHO $$$ for jump costs too. For ME, the prices ARE finally coming down, now, AND once off student status it is really affordable. Hang in there. This is an awesome sport!!! ...and Hey! THE THRILL for the cost just CAN'T BE BEAT!
  24. Fred Little better with less BOLD AND CAPS?? I'm at Skydive Hastings, at least at this point$$$as often as I can Afford to! See Ya!
