  1. Hey, Be careful out there, dude! Ever since my Army days, I realize I just love guys in uniforms! I think it's more the attitude than the actual clothes though...
  2. "...Jump as often as possible...Hoping for a long Indian Summer..." Man, O' man..! I hear ya there brother! I'm in Michigan, and trying to work my way through the AFP and graduate before it gets too cold! I may be wearing long-johns in my jumpsuit before I get to graduate...And gonna keep on jumping for as long as I can, too!
  3. "My fav joke. Girls getting first tandem. Getting video. "You look great." Haha-HA! that is TOO FUNNY! Now that I think about it, THAT was the first and last time I wore make up jumping, too. At this point in time, it's just that I gotta get up REALLY EARLY IN THE AM - 4:30AM- to get to everything done that I want to do THEN drive 90 miles to the DZ where I'm in student training. Right now I'm keeping everything simple... Getting up in the AM to go to the DZ: I basically just drag myself outa bed, do some yoga(stretches), pack a cooler and grab coffee and hit the long road to the DZ.
  4. Mee-OW! Be nice LADIES. ...Diversity is GOOD. Let's say this mantra together...Diversity is GOOD...
  5. I hear ya sistah! Guys THINK they like the natural look...when actually more often than not, it took some "doing" to get looking like that! YOU KNOW when you've taken a little extra time to look, um, let's say "better", it pays off...'cause even in the same day, same clothes, et cetera, I have gotten completely different reactions from people- double takes even- when all that I've done is simply to fix my hair 'prettier' (like no ponytail or clipped up) and put on just a subtle makeup. Know what I mean? I think you DO
  6. Hmmm...Just curious.....What are you planning to do tonight? My EX is picking up my seven-year-old daughter for his weekend visit. I'm on my own until late Sunday afternoon when I gotta go a pick her up. But for tonight...I'm not sure what I'm gonna do tonight yet. Maybe a bike?ride, dinner, movie? and yoga before bed. But I'm heading to the DZ to jump early (it's a 90 minute drive)tomorrow morning...
  7. Awe, Gerb...Ain't you sweeeeet!
  8. I started out wearing make-up when I made my first jump, but haven't wore any since! I get nervous, hot and sweaty in the course of my AFP training and a long day. I really have become so laid back about it...The more I jump and the more often I'm at the DZ, I'm becoming more like one of the guys. In the course of a long day of waiting around and jumping, it really doesn't seem of much importance. But then again, I'm meeting so many interesting people and some really attactive and appealing guys... ...I still wanna look good, ya know what I mean?
  9. Lucky me got this Friday off! I'm just messing around on the forums until I have to go to a 1:15PM appointment later. Nothing too exciting though, just getting color put into my hair...! TGIF! And tomorrow heading to the DZ
  10. I guess I'm a little paranoid...Ever seen that movie: "Enemy of the State"? You know there really is government intelligence that screens communication systems and intecepts messages that include certain "red flag" words and phrases. I don't want to be someone that comes under scrutinty(spelling?)...You know what I mean?
  11. Lunch is gonna be a scoop SlimFast powder shaken up with a pint of milk. Yummy, huh? Dinner can be more exciting though...though I have no idea about that yet!
  12. Hi fella. Honestly... She probably has been interested in, if not been out with other guys, too. Even if it is "just as friends." I was in one of those "long distance relationships" before where you really next to never see each other. Those kinda things really are the pits ! I'm divorced and I've taken a LONG TIME getting my act together to get back into the dating scene. I've giving it all a lot of thought...I think it's wisest (and more fun?) to date more than one person at a time UNTIL YOU KNOW FOR SURE that you BOTH want a committed and exclusive relationship that'll check into all the possibilities of a future & life together. Be kind about it, but do be honest, dude.
  13. You may have already made your decision, But here is my $.02 worth: I'm a Michigander who fell in love with a guy from Massachusetts that I met while I was in the Army. When I got out of the Army, I stayed and lived in the Boston area for 3 years...the North Shore actually. It is pretty and I loved being close to the Ocean and having the mountains not far was nice too. BUT as a Mid-Westerner I hated it there and I never really felt like a belonged. I moved back to my home state. I always have a Long range goal in mind that I work towards... Plus I also make plans for alternative short range goals, Plans A, B and/or C. Skills or trades that you can fall back on when the going gets rough are a great idea. Hey, cold weather ain't always bad. There IS always winter sports like skiing.... AND Winter gives ya excuses to make great warm climes trip plans and road trips! GOOD LUCK TO YA!

Scots Unite! Historically, we are far-flung across the globe, aren't we?! My Grandma Wallace (my Dad's Ma) was a CAMPBELL too! And her Ma, my Great Grandma was a LAIRD! Hey, and let's hear it for us WALLACE's too!
  15. I appreciate your insights on your experiences in learning in this sport too. I'll be sure to talk to my JMs about judgement regarding the radio instruction and issues involved with that FOR SURE! I'm going to the DZ tomorrow to make my AFP#4 & AFP#5 jumps tomorrow. I really want to do well. Landings shouldn't be such an issue, I would think. We don't jump if winds are above 10-15mph, tops. So going into the wind to land makes for easier landings, (hypothetically) anyways! I'm waiting to hear about my financial status with my $$$account today...I may even try to accomplish ALL OF THE AFP STEPS LEFT #4/#5/#6 AND #7 tomorrow!!! And then having MY GRADUATION JUMP + 2 or 3 (more) coach jumps on Oct.12th when I can more enjoy the WONDERFUL FREEFALL experience! Getting through AFP step #4/#5 in and of themselves doesn't worry me. Turns are really no big deal for me. BUT STEPS #6/#7 DO MAKE ME NERVOUS! Front loops and back loops? YIKES! They sound SO SURREAL... If I can't visualize them, HOW can I start pysching myself up for something like that?? Sunny Skies and Calm Breezes!
  16. Uh huh, uh huh. Yeah, Yeah...I agree with ya there... But did you say "...AND TOSS CARS OUT OF AIRPLANES..."??????? WHOA! Are you kidding?
  17. I hear ya! AFter my first AFP jump my JM gave me beer...my first in years! At first, I was gonna say No, thanx, I don't like beer... But considering the momentous occassion and the spirit in which it was offered, I happily accepted...And it wasn't bad! I'm not sure who makes this particular type, but it was good and had a clean crisp taste: ICE BOX...something or other. Hey, give us some in-put here. I need help with this too, especially since I'LL OWE BEER big time when I graduate from AFP & student status the middle of October!!!
  18. Exactly! It's NOT just a matter of $$$! I like what you said, "...It IS a sport that requires a whole new frame of mind." In MANY ways people need to venture out of their comfort zones to really be able to get into skydiving- and on a whole lot of different levels- to really be able to get into skydiving and be able to enjoy it. PLUS it can be really SCARY!especially the first time...
  19. GEEZ! I am really getting grossed out. I WAS gonna have my friend check out these postings on this forum to get him to come on out to the DZ and have his first jump. But I don't think that his reading these is gonna encourage him to do that ! Well not at this point any ways. But everybody's been definitely helpful and informative, and I thank you for that!
  20. Maybe this'll kick start an interesting discussion: The eye-opener I got was when I was in the Army (for eight years) during "peace time." I was a woman in a male dominated specialty- and by "this and that"- learned a lot about the system, the government, and often times, behind the scenes how things are made to happen or not happen if you will... I found State Representitives and Senators were helpful during troubled times that I had while in the military. It can be really tricky and dangeous at times to be the "little guy" who's making waves about sensitive issues. You CAN but you better have some important people on your side or have lots of support and publicity. Sorry to be so vague .

    >It would be difficult to take seriously if it was called ISOsoft< LOL Dang!are you funny! I was actually trying hard not to laugh out loud in the middle of the library- But I couldn't stiffle my snickers any way!!
  22. You Fool, you... Hey I quit smoking 3 or 4 times before I truly quit (for good?)! Stressful times make it tougher to quit. But with prices rising thru the roof, no way am I gonna cave in to buy cigs again. Maybe try to do something that mimmic's the inhaling- ya know, deep breathing- I think that is what is so relaxing about smoking- in addition to the nicotine of course. Personally, I really like doing yoga and walking&hiking really quickly. But then again, that's me. And by the way, (Cessna) jumps where I'm jumping at are $15.00USD when you have your own equipment. Good Luck to you!
  23. Well said Gerb! You're just too cool dude.
