  1. Have lost several loved ones and have a suggestion. Might sound stupid but find writing letters to them helps me sort my own emotions out. If can just seal the envelope and bring it to the cemetery and leave it there. Just a suggestion if you wish to try it. Hope your friends and family help you through this. Best wishes.
  2. If Nessie exists how come the creature never ate some fisherman in a boat? Something that big would take a person here amd there. Wouldn't it?
  3. I don't know about having more people insured will make a difference in general health. Now heavy smokers and drinkers will be covered without questions asked. Would tend to think the general covered population will be unhealthier.
  4. Don't forget about all the bad landings and jumpers without insurance. Will be covered? Something is wrong there.
  5. There is an old saying, if you want a strong, faithful wife don't look for her in a bar. The same goes for lasting friendships. DZ's and bars are both places of congregation for the self-centered, fickle and decadent. IMO Agreed. Some of us learn the hard way. Don't be fooled by the phony comradery. Someone early in my jumping told me these people pretending to be your friend and each others friend will laugh and joke if you or anyone else takes it in.
  6. This post is the funniest ever! Seriously if no insurance guess comes down to common cents.
  7. It will be interesting to see where fb takes us in 5 yrs. Will things that are not appropriate now become appropriate? Will we write on our employers wall won't be in today due to illness? Or even write I quit effectively immediately? And will employer fire us by writing on our wall? Guess will wait and see.
  8. Isn't Charo considered one of the best guitarists ever? Don't really know her music bur believe her comedy was the only way she could sneak the music in when starting out.
  9. As I said in another thread I did not start skydiving while my parents were alive. While realizing everyone's situation is different, I had an ailing father and a mother confined to a wheelchair. So if something happened to me what would have happened to them? Not to mention they would be worried the whole time. To each their own but I personally wouldn't have put them through it - feel it would have been very selfish on my part.
  10. Does anyone know if the TI instructor on the famous elderly lady tandem jump lost his license (not just his tandem ratung)? Would the bowling speech be appropriate for him? Heard he had over 9,000 jumps but does that really matter?
  11. How can you talk about Jane Fonda w/o bringing up "Bararella"?
  12. In the movies "Cat Ballou" and "A Thousand Clowns" both funny movies and although I can't stand Jane Fonda now I will accept Cat Ballou because it was before she got politically weird. She didn't have the Hanoi Jane title yet.
  13. Don't give up if your heart is in it. For an instructor to give the bowling speech to someone (unless due to physical condition) means student just has to find the right instructor. One could argue that aomeone isn't mentally right for the sport (and that could be true in case of mental retardation but I will say not always. I have seen mentally retarded people do amazing things that require skill awareness precision and balance). And as far as mentally unstable people? That again is the development of a relationship between instructor and student if the instructor cares enough to develop relationship and time to understand student. I think the key is the student's desire.
  14. And for what drop zone might that scenario be true? Florida is full of retirees, so would that apply to Deland or Z-hills? Is there something in those areas that prevents young people from traveling to the DZ from outside the retirement community? What would make over-50 people more attracted to skydiving there than in other areas?/You are absolurely right. I dont know what dz that would be a scenario. Just giving original poster opportunity for more info. Perhaps there is a remote place somewhere. But most likely not. According to USPA demographics, 24% of members are over age 50. That's the same number that are below age 30. Demographics: http://www.uspa.org/Portals/0/MembershipSurveys/memsurvey10.pdf
