Getting my rig setup for a wingsuit

as a rigger it distresses me that there is no "staging" at all and if I were unstable the bag could/would fall out before it should!

I am not a rigger, but I fail to understand how any rig design could allow the bag to "fall out" during instability. How could a rig like this be safe for any situation? Even in our earliest AFF student jumps we are drilled on recovering from instability.

What am I missing?

The rig is an old design before they became as complex as they are now which allows the pilot chute and bridle to reach full extension before the bag is snatched out the container. Hyperthetically if you were on your back and the pin was pulled then the bag will fall out unlike new designs.

I know of a case where some one was in a sit fly with a dislodged pin, but pc still in the boc and the bag stayed in the container for the whole skydive and they had a normal deployment, much to the consternation of the others in the group.

We on the same page about recovering stability before deployment and that is what I have always done and taught my students. I cannot ever remember deploying when unstable.

The dynamics of deployment in wingsuiting requires different equipment technology which can be considered unsafe for other skydiving disciplines. One would not do sitfly with a rig kitted out for CRW!

I like the racer for its simplicity and satisfied that it is still airworthy and safe for the application I use it in. It is due to be retired as it is reaching time X.

Based on what you have described in your previous posts, I am assuming you have come to this conclusion based on the mention of cut corners. We have had this discussion in this forum before and for clarity, cut corners are not a completely open corner as found on some rigs years ago and on BASE rigs.

If a container comes open, any container, and the person is on their back or spinning out of control, chances are the D bag is going to come/fall out of the container. This very scenario happened in the door at WFFC 2 years ago on a regular skydive and is on skydiving movies.

Fully cut corners are not recommended as they do not allow a proper staging during the deployment sequence. There should be a portion of the bottom of the pack tray still sewn so as to create a corner and provide some tension on the D bag. None of the recommended modifications for wingsuiting can be considered unsafe for other skydiving disciplines as they do not present an unsafe situation at any point in the skydive be it wingsuit or RW/FF. If I am missing something here, please explain how each of the modifications presents an unsafe situation on any type of skydive.

I learned the hard way that this is a gear dependent discipline more so than any other.

I think BASE, CReW, and swooping are more gear dependent disciplines.
